Kamala Harris: First woman to get US presidential powers (briefly)

Austria, a few days ago, imposed a lockdown on the unvaccinated individuals in its country — and then announced a full national lockdown beginning on Monday. Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said that the lockdown will last a minimum of 20 days and there will be legal requirements imposed on the population to get vaccinated from the first of February, 2022. Other European countries are also following suit to impose restrictions as their cases rise.

US Vice-President Kamala Harris is now the first woman to — however briefly — be given presidential powers. President Joe Biden underwent a regular health check recently and transferred power to VP Harris for about 85 minutes while he was under anesthesia. This temporary transfer of power is not unprecedented and has been done numerous times in other presidencies. The White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, tweeted around 11:35 pm local time that President Biden had resumed his duties "in good spirits".
