US Supreme Court says Texas abortion clinics can sue over law

US inflation hits highest level for 40 years

In a very closely watched case across the nation, the Supreme Court has ruled that abortion providers can sue to challenge the controversial Texas abortion law, SB8. The court is allowing the original law to remain in effect, letting lawsuits move back to district court where providers will be allowed to file for a stay of enforcement and ultimately challenge the law's constitutionality.

As the holidays approach, the latest figures are looking hard on the general public shopping for gifts: prices rose 6.8% in the last year to November. Prices have increased food bills, and petrol prices have jumped 6.1%. The cost of second-hand cars and rent has also risen. According to BBC, the monthly pace of price rises at 0.8% has eased a little compared to October's 0.9%

A newly created Small Business Gas Grant Program, which goes into effect on December 1, will aid 900 local companies as they continue to attempt to recover from the impacts of the ongoing health crisis. The program will award $450,000 as grants for small business customers in need, on a firstcome, first-considered basis.

Philly could require proof of vaccination for indoor dining, like New York According to the Inquirer, Philadelphia officials are considering implementing a COVID-19 vaccination mandate at all indoor dining facilities, requiring patrons and employees to show proof of vaccines. This isn't a new idea — cities like New York and San Francisco have required proof of vaccination since August, including at indoor events. Other institutions are increasing measures to combat the rising case count in the city, which is at its highest since the spring with an average of 463 cases per day. The University of Pennsylvania has announced a ban on indoor social gatherings. Sources say the new change could be announced next week and take effect later this month.
