COP26: Biden on diplomatic drive ahead of climate summit

Climate change: Major US oil companies face grilling by Congress

"President Joe Biden has begun a series of diplomatic meetings in Europe ahead of next week's key UN climate summit, COP26 in Scotland." The President's first meeting was with Pope Francis at the Vatican, and next week he will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron before the G20 summit. During his meeting at the Vatican, President Biden thanked the Pope for his advocacy for the world's poor and his leadership on the climate crisis and the pandemic.

Top oil company executives appeared before the United States Congress on Thursday to address allegations that they misled the public about climate change. Major oil producers were quizzed about the impact of the fossil fuels that their companies profit from, as well as the true environmental toll. This is the first time in history that executives from oil companies have answered questions publicly and under oath, during a six-hour session in the Capitol.
