COUNCIL NEWS Every 20 minutes…

very 20 minutes across the UK a child comes into care, in need of a foster family. This was the theme delivered by this year’s Foster Care Fortnight campaign called a ‘Time to Foster, Time to Care’. Throughout the campaign, people were asked to consider whether they could offer a young person(s) a home. Bedford Borough Council is currently in need of more fostering households within the borough. Cllr Shan Hunt, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Social Care said: “We are looking for foster carers from a variety of different backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures and religions to meet the needs of our children. Whether people can foster

short-term or for more long-term periods, we would be delighted to hear from them. Fantastic foster carers are making such a difference to children’s lives.” The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “Foster care provides children with a safe, secure and nurturing family environment, and allows them to keep in contact with their own families if they wish.
