We do not prorate We accept VISA, MasterCard, AmEx and Discover Checks should be made payable to the Town of Bedford. There is a $25 penalty fee for returned checks. Those requiring special assistance, please contact the Recreation Director. Transportation, when provided, will be by Bedford Charter unless otherwise noted.

In order to continue offering quality programs at affordable costs, please consider donating to our scholarship fund Bedford Recreation's goal is never to turn away an interested participant due to economic hardship. With your help of $5, $10, $25 (or more!), we will be able to continue this practice

Notice must be given 5 business days’ prior to program start for refund If the required notice is given refunds will be issued less 10% of the cost of the program. Medical refunds given after a program has begun will be prorated and the 10% fee will be charged Other exceptions are noted in program descriptions.

WINTER LIGHTS CONTEST

This contest is an opportunity for you to show off your home and winter light display! Only displays visible from the roadway will be considered as part of the display. The contest is free and open to all Bedford Residents.

The entries will be posted on our Facebook Page and the display that receives the most “likes” will be the winner! By entering, all homes grant permission for their address to be included on a list to be published for the community to visit the light displays.

The Asian Supermarket, H Mart, is just up the road from Bedford but can seem a world away The aisles are full of what for some are unfamiliar treasures: sauces, noodles, dumplings, seaweed, rice, tofu, fresh Korean side dishes (banchan), an ocean of fish, fields of teas and condiments, and so much more. But for those who are unacquainted with some of the ingredients and see unrecognizable labels, the footballfield size of the store can be too daunting for an enjoyable experience Join Debra Samuels, as she helps de-mystify H Mart and guides you through the market. This two (2) day class will provide an in-depth experience with time for questions, shopping, and snacking. Come show yourself some love and learn how to make probiotic pickles for your health and happy taste buds At this small class on food preservation, you will learn how to pickle anything! Emily will show you how to pickle what's in season to make the most of your veggies, capture gut-healthy microbes & prevent food waste This will include the basic science of fermentation and methods so you will leave with the knowledge and confidence to be able to safely ferment practically anything! Leave knowing the difference between a vinegar pickle and a fermented pickle You will make your own fermented pickles (e g carrot or beet pickles) and take home your very own jar we will talk about the benefits of lacto-fermented food & how they are a benefit to our overall health. sauce that is even more versatile Typical soy sauce is made from soy beans, wheat, and koji We will be using koji and some seasonal ingredients to create a savory sauce that can be a stand in soy sauce or for chicken/beef stock (while till being vegetarian) or used to season all kinds of food. You will learn what koji is, how it is made, and the chemistry behind what makes it a wonder in the kitchen Koji is the key element of miso, soy sauce, and sake You will also learn how to make "soy sauce" from nearly anything (e g mushrooms, tomatoes, other beans, etc.) and create a "soy sauce" of your own to take home, care for, and then experience the magic yourselves. Cyanotypes Prints (Prussian-blue image on a white background) also known as ferro-prussiate, blueprint process or simply as sun prints, were invented and named by Sir John Hirschel in 1842 and are one of the oldest photographic processes This method was popularized by Anna Atkins, one of a handful of women working in photography in the mind-18oos who published multiple botanical books Cyanotypes are one of the easiest photographic printing techniques and can easily be made at home without expensive equipment or a photography dark room In this workshop, you will learn how to make dry and we cyanotypes from found plant material, as well as experiment with kitchen spices and suds, we will work with the sun as our UV light source The chemicals needed are easy to source and inexpensive (because there are no precious metals involved) This class would be great for any creative being and or plant lover who wants to jump into the world of alternative photographic printing techniques.
