Register online at www.bedfordrecreation.org or in person, by mail or by fax. Registration form is in this brochure for non-online registration. Tuition must be paid at the time of registration. We do not prorate. We accept VISA, MasterCard, AmEx and Discover. Checks should be made payable to the Town of Bedford. There is a $25 penalty fee for returned checks. Those requiring special assistance, please contact the Recreation Director. Transportation, when provided, will be by Bedford Charter unless otherwise noted.

Financial Aid For consideration, please submit the Financial Assistance Form and Registration Form. Forms can be found on our website.

Refund/Cancellation Policy Notice must be given 5 business days’ prior to program start for refund. If the required notice is given refunds will be issued less 10% of the cost of the program. Medical refunds given after a program has begun will be prorated and the 10% fee will be charged. Other exceptions are noted in program descriptions.

Get a team of family or friends to compete in completing a 500 piece puzzle! Everyone gets the same puzzle and at the end, take the puzzle home with you. The winning teams will receive prizes! Bring your own nut free snacks and non-alcoholic beverages for a night of good old-fashioned fun!

Cape Ann Whale Watch Tickets Whale watching is a fun, family-friendly activity and you may purchase tickets at the Recreation Office. Once you have the tickets, visit www.SeeTheWhales.com, choose your date/time options and make a reservation at 1-800-877-5110. More information and directions on the website. The Whaling season runs from April through October.

Cape Ann Whale Watch is at Rose’s Wharf in Gloucester. Pick up tickets at the Recreation Office. Tickets are non-refundable. Tickets do not expire. (Not valid for the Saturday or Sunday afternoon trips).

Children age 3 and under $10 directly with Cape Ann Whale Watch, please call and request with your reservation. Depending on fuel prices, there could be an additional surcharge of a few dollars to each ticket payable the day of your reservation. Check the website for updates.

BHS Marching Band and Local groups and organizations turn The Great Road into a seal of color and excitement for Bedford Day! The parade begins at the intersection of the Great Road and Loomis Street, proceeds north on the Great Road and finishes at Mudge Way.

Arrival after 6:00 PM. Best viewing areas: Fields between High School and Town Hall. Fireworks launched from John Glenn Middle School. Sabourin Field will be closed. Final details released at a later date. Portable restrooms are available.

Board of Health is offering free Flu vaccinations!

Bedford Arts & Crafts Society 25th Annual Regional art Show and Sale:

The Bedford Health Department is offering free flu vaccinations at Bedford Day on Saturday, September 20th from 9 am – 12 pm to residents ages 2 years and older. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring your insurance card and come to the big white tent behind the Town Center (“the yellow building”). A link to preregister for the Bedford Day flu clinic will be available in early September on the Health Department website at www.bedfordma.gov/health.

The Bedford Arts and Crafts Society 25th Annual Regional Art Show and Sale will be open in the Russo Room at 12 Mudge Way on Bedford Day, Saturday, September 20th, from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM. For more information or to submit art work, please visit www.bacsma.org or email artshow@bacsma.org

Fall Preschool Programs Little Farmers (Ages 2.5-5) Instructor: Chip in Farm Join our farmers to help care for the baby goats, cows, and miniature horse Clyde at Chip-in Farm! The Little Farmers will learn what it takes to be a farmer through stories, games, crafts, and real farm work.

When our chores are done, we will have fun playing outside on the farm together and in the surrounding fields and forest. The farm offers a full sensory experience for your Little Farmer. This program is for children ages 2.5-5. This is a drop-off class but parents are always welcome to join!

Preschool Pony Power Hour (Ages 2.5-5) Instructor: Chip in Farm The ponies at Chip in Farm are looking for some friends to play with this Fall! Come learn about horse safety while you groom and ride the ponies at Chip in Farm. They love to be bathed, decorated, take walks in the woods, and jump over obstacles, and even have a few surprise pony games they like to play.

Fall Preschool Programs Toddler Tumblers (with adult participation): This class is the perfect combination of fun and learning. There will be a different theme each week involving different equipment.

Participants will roll down the mat, walk across the beam, swing like monkeys, and jump like frogs. Parachutes and stamps complete this magical gymnastics class. Children must be walking to participate. (max 15)

Preschool Gymnastics (Ages 1-5) Instructor: Jennifer McGrath & Staff Jennifer brings oodles of energy to keep kids moving in her preschool gymnastics/movement classes. Adult participation is required when noted. Children participate in bare feet.

Preschool Gymnastics (without adult participation): This class teaches beginning skills that will be useful for any sport. Focus is placed on strength and flexibility while building balance and body awareness. Gymnastics equipment is used in this class to reinforce gymnastics skills. Fall Preschool Programs Saturday Preschool Soccer with Soccer Shots (Ages 2-4) Instructor: Soccer Shots Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program with a focus on character development. Our caring team positively impacts children’s lives on and off the field through best-in-class coaching, curriculum and communication.

Soccer Shots Mini (Ages 2-3) 9:00-9:30 AM Soccer Shots Mini program high-energy program introducing children to fundamental soccer principles, such as using your feet, dribbling and the basic rules of the game. Through fun games, songs and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active.

Soccer Shots Classic Hybrid (Ages 3-4) Option 1: 9:40-10:10 AM Option 2: 10:30-11:00 AM Soccer Shots Classic Hybrid program utilizes creative and imaginative games to focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing and shooting. We also highlight a positive character trait each session such as respect, teamwork and appreciation. We use a progression for the scrimmages at the end of each session.

Wednesday Preschool Soccer with Super Soccer Stars (Ages 2-5) Instructor: Super Soccer Stars At Soccer Stars, we use the soccer ball as the vehicle to help children improve their soccer skills, develop self-confidence and physical literacy, improve gross motor skills, and hone socialization skills. Our dynamic coaches help to develop these skills and teamwork in a fun, nurturing, and educational environment.

Classes are progressive and each lesson has been developed to teach age appropriate activities. We have programs for all ages and stages!

Fall Preschool Programs Bedford T-Ball Clinic (Ages 3-5) Instructor: Coach Tim French & Staff A great introduction to the world of baseball for preschoolers! Tim and his staff of energetic and knowledgeable coaches introduce players to the fundamentals. Players will practice skills through a wide variety of developmentally appropriate drills and activities designed to make learning the game of baseball fun. Skills will be applied to modified games. Parent participation required. Children should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers, and bring a baseball glove and water.

Music Together (Ages 0-5) Instructor:Venus Armendia from Little Moon Music Music Together is an early childhood music program that allows children and their parents/caregivers to use their primary instrument, which is their voice, as the foundation for community music making. Along our voices, we will add our second most important instrument (our bodies) to tap and clap to the beat of the songs we sing. Each class we dance and we use percussion instruments. Full participation from the parents/caregivers is expected and needed to achieve the goals of the class: to help the kids develop tonal and rhythmic competence while experiencing the joy of making music along the people who love them and care for them.

Scoops Lacrosse Clinic (Ages 3-7) Instructor: Scoops Lacrosse Coaches Scoops Lacrosse will be running a 5-week super spring clinic open to boys and girls ages 3-6, Scoops Clinics are designed for kids who are interested in learning about lacrosse and learning the skills in a fun and welcoming environment. Kids will be broken into different groups based on age and/or skill levels. As long as numbers permit. Fall Preschool Programs Little Olympians (Ages 3-5) Instructor: Sports Zone 101 Get ready for big fun and little athletes! This exciting program is designed just for toddlers (ages 3-5) to explore the basics of sports while having a blast with silly, interactive games. Each week, kids will get moving with activities like soccer, basketball, and kickball, paired with playful favorites like parachute games, obstacle courses, and balloon volleyball. Our goal is to help little ones develop coordination, teamwork, and confidence through movement and exploration—all in a supportive and fun environment. Whether they’re kicking a ball, running through tunnels, or just having a giggle, your toddler will love being part of the fun! Ready to spark a love for movement and play?

This program is great for any child to get started in basketball without the commitment of league play!

Lil Ninja (Ages 3-5) Instructor: Knucklebones Does your child love to run, jump, climb, and tumble? Then our play on American Ninja Warrior is the perfect class. Each week, children will participate in stretching, elements, obstacles, and games to help develop gross motor skills. From swinging on a high bar to balance beams, climbing structures and tumbling on mats, to leaping into a ball pit - your child is sure to have a blast…for the love of play! Parent participation is encouraged.

Grade K-2 Davis AM Gym (Grades K-2) Instructor: Recreation Staff

Children not picked up on time from Recreation Programs may be given a oneclass suspension and children who are not picked up on time twice for the same program may be removed from the program.

Please have a contingency/back up plan for traffic or other delays and communicate the need to use this plan as soon as you suspect you are running late.

Our instructors/staff have family and/or other work obligations that they must attend to. We appreciate your adherence to the program pick up times. *Registration for this program opens on August 18 at 8:00 PM. early morning drop off program will energize your children and prepare them for the day ahead. Davis AM Gym is a combination of fun activities and sports that helps children ease into the school day. Please note that this program does not meet on no-school days or school delays due to weather or other reasons. This is a seasonal program, participants must register each session.

Afterschool Chess (Grades K-2) Instructor: Prathiba Gounder Learn and reinforce basic principles. This class covers the topics like: Piece names/movement, starting position, turn-sequence, piece values, special rules, general board competencies, and checks/checkmates. We'll learn about notations for reading (and writing) games. We'll do lots of problemsolving work, so be prepared to exercise your brain.

Students will be able to play with each other as well as their instructor to practice their skills and learn. All equipment Is provided for this program.

Adventures in STEM with LEGO (Grades K-2) Instructor: Play-Well TEKnologies Let your imagination run wild with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects and use special pieces to create your own unique designs! Projects are rotated seasonally to ensure that both new and returning students can explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system.

Davis Minecraft (Grades 1 & 2) Instructor: Cody Allatt & Staff This program is for kids who love Minecraft or want to learn what it is all about! This program will use the Minecraft: Education Edition and will take place in the Davis School Library. This program will include introduction to basic mouse and keyboard controls to building, design and decoration, mining and crafting techniques, and farming plants and animals. Student will also have an opportunity to play and explore the game they loving using the education edition. Please send a snack for your child to have before the class.

F.A.S.T. Basketball & Sports (Grades K-2) Instructor: F.A.S.T. Athletics 3…..2…..1…..bzzzz. Our basketball program will help increase the student’s confidence in passing, shooting, and dribbling skills so when it’s time to make that game winning shot they are ready!

They will also learn the proper techniques of playing defense, rebounding and boxing out. Besides playing scrimmages, the students will also play games such as knock out, dribbling relay races, and hot hands. This program may also include other sports to keep the program fun and exciting. F.A.S.T. Flag Football & Sports (Grades K-2) Instructor: F.A.S.T. Athletics F.A.S.T. Athletics will teach everyone game strategies, catching techniques and most importantly how to work together as a team. The students will be able to participate in different situational games such as Red Zone Defense, fourth and inches, and the QB Challenge as they learn the importance of fair play.

Each class will end with a simulated games broken down into 4 quarters--the coaches will have tons of plays ready to go for their teams. Other games/sports will be used to supplement this class. The program may be indoors or outdoors depending on weather. Please send a snack.

Ninja Warrior (Grades K-2) Instructor: Knucklebones Staff Ninja Warrior is a blend of fitness, flexibility, strength, skill and fun!

Participants will engage in various drills, elements, games and obstacle courses. From scaling cargo nets on a truss to walking across balance beams, climbing over an A-Frame to hanging on monkey bars, this class enables participants to have fun progressing through elements... for the love of play!This program is eligible for a Kids’ Club Combo. Davis Yoga (Grades K-2) Instructor: Bonnie McCulloch Roar like a lion, fly like a butterfly and travel to far-away places by experiencing yoga combined with music, storytelling and cooperative games. Imagination will be stretched in this yoga class that explores both breath work, yoga postures and relaxation technique. Skills will be presented in a fun and creative manner. Prior to the class, children will be released to the cafeteria to enjoy quiet activities until the busses have left. Please send a snack and yoga mat.

Circuit Makers 101 (Grades K-2) Instructor: Circuit Lab Let’s get creative with electricity! In this junior hands-on electronics class, students will gain experience with creating their own electronics; designing custom light-up greeting cards, electric games, mazes, and even musical instruments. Each class day consists of a circuitry lesson and a hands-on electronics project, using components like lights, buzzers, switches, motors, and sensors. Circuit Lab staff will make sure participants create a project that they can be proud of each day. Most class days include a takehome project.

Kid’s Test Kitchen (Grades K-2) Instructor: Kid’s Test Kitchen Staff On a mission to redefine kid food; Kids’ Test Kitchen’s enthusiastic Facilitators get eaters of all ages and abilities, cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients!

Students engage with food in a way that is both educational and fun. Through hands-on experience, kids are taught the value of fresh, healthy ingredients and gain appreciation for the process of transforming those ingredients into a finished product. Block or Charge Basketball Clinic (Grades K-6) Instructor: Brian Forman & Block or Charge Staff The mission of the Block or Charge program is to provide the opportunity for kids in grades K-6 to learn and enjoy the game of basketball through various individual and small group drills. Brian was a 4-year player at Skidmore College in Upstate New York, a 1000-point scorer, and is a member of the Skidmore College Hall of Fame. What is Therapeutic Recreation?

Therapeutic Recreation is a process that utilizes recreation and leisure to provide adaptation and support to individuals of all abilities within recreation programs and services. Participating in Therapeutic Recreation programs can promote independence and encourage improvement in social, emotional, cognitive and physical wellbeing.

Mission & Goals: Bedford Recreation Department's mission is to create and implement recreation programs that are inclusive to participants of all ages and abilities. This includes individuals with cognitive, developmental, social, emotional and intellectual disabilities.

Goals of Therapeutic Recreation: Enhance and enrich quality of life Promote a positive leisure lifestyle Access to inclusive recreation programs Increase confidence Create community engagement opportunities Provide recreation and leisure resources

Inclusion: Our inclusion program provides extra support to participants during recreation programs. These interventions have been demonstrated to enhance recall and comprehension, facilitate communication and expression, foster self-regulation, support executive functioning skills, and promote social development. This interactive and engaging group will be led by a Board Certified Music Therapist, who will guide participants through music and movement, songwriting, instrument playing, and adaptive music learning experiences tailored to their musical and non-musical growth. This is an adaptive program specifically designed for children with disabilities.

Travel Soccer Registration will close on April 3 or when teams fill.

When teams fill, additional registration will be taken on a waiting list basis & new teams will be formed if there are enough players on the waiting list. Games are played on Saturdays, either in Bedford or in another BAYS League Town. Travel Teams practice two times per week. Parents provide transportation to and from games and practices.

NEW TRAVEL SOCCER UNIFORM KIT! A new Travel Soccer uniform kit was introduced in the Fall of 2025. If your child did not play in the fall they will need a new uniform.

To purchase a uniform, please visit www.bedfordyouthsoccer.org in June. All uniforms are purchased through Tricon Sports and mailed directly to your residence.

Bauman Basketball: Grades K-8

This recreation basketball league is all about fun! Players play against friends, neighbors and classmates. The program begins the week of November 29 and ends in late-February/early-March.

PARENT VOLUNTEER COACHES Please indicate your willingness to volunteer to coach your child's team when registering. No experience necessary. Training will be provided

HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEER COACHES Motivated and responsible HS students interested in volunteering to serve as coaches should email Nikki Taylor. Must be available to attend practices and games. ntaylor@bedfordma.gov

Bauman Basketball: Grades K-8

Grades K-2 Meets one weeknight per week.

Consists of skills, drills and scrimmages/games.

Team rosters and schedules will be announced in November.

Grades 3-8 Players have one practice per week and one game per week.

Practice format, schedule and team roster will be announced mid-November.

All players in grades 3-8 must attend evaluations to create balanced teams.

REGISTRATION FEES: Grades K-2: $105 Grades 3-8: $150 The registration fee includes a uniform shirt. The deadline to register is October 20. Register at www.bedfordrecreation.org

EVALUATION INFORMATION (GRADES 3-8): To ensure proper balance of the teams, players in Grades 3-8 MUST attend evaluations. Player should wear sneakers and BRING A BASKETBALL to evaluations. *Evaluation dates and times may changed depending on enrollment numbers/gym availability.

Evaluations will be held in early-November. Dates will be announced closer to the start of the season.

To the Bedford Community, After 39 years incredible years with the Bedford Recreation Department, the time has come for me to close this chapter and retire from a position I have been fortunate to hold. I want to express my gratitude to the community and staff (Recreation, Instructors and Volunteers) who have been along on this journey. I am grateful for your unwavering support, kindness, trust and partnership over the years. To those of you who have participated in our programs and events, thank you for your enthusiasm, participation and involvement; it has brought meaning and life to our offerings. It has been a privilege to create experiences where people could connect, play, learn, celebrate and grow together. Thank you for this opportunity, I will miss you Bedford!
