BHS Marching Band and Local groups and organizations turn The Great Road into a seal of color and excitement for Bedford Day! The parade begins at the intersection of The Great Road and Loomis Street, proceeds north on The Great Road and finishes at Mudge Way.
The Bedford Health Department is offering free flu vaccinations at Bedford Day on Saturday, September 20th from 9 AM – 12 PM to residents ages 2 years and older Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult Please bring your insurance card and come to the big white tent behind the Town Center (“the yellow building”). Bedford Public Schools is pleased to continue its Adult ESL Program, supported by a $60,000 grant from the Cummings Foundation Bedford was selected as one of 150 local organizations from a competitive pool of 630 applicants
This fall, the program will offer free Advanced, Intermediate, and Beginner ESL classes, as well as a Citizenship Test Preparation course. All classes are open to adults in Bedford and surrounding communities who wish to advance their English language skills or prepare for the U S Citizenship Test
Classes begin September 11th and will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Bedford High School, running for a total of 14 sessions There is no class November 27

In this popular one-day workshop, you have the opportunity to carve your own stone, an art form that is not typically accessible. Beginners and experienced sculptors alike will be guided through the process of looking into the rock for imagery, carving into material, planning and forming a sculpture, and using tools Hand-carving techniques will be demonstrated and stone carving lore will be discussed.

In this class students will be introduced to the printmaking process of linocut The class will cover techniques in carving linoleum, composition, ink mixing, and printing At their own pace students will learn how to create a design and carve it in linoleum using carving tools. Wagon Wheel style rug making is a form of rug weaving Wagon Wheel rugs are done on a round frame and use strips of fabric to weave the rug The pattern appears to be spokes on a wagon wheel. This class will review some history, set up the loom, discuss good fabrics to use, cut and prepare fabric for weaving, prepare the warp and prepare the weft, and then how to weave the weft and add spoke as the weaving progresses Students will be expected to do some prep and weaving at home each week We will finish the rugs, with fringe, on the last week. Some hand sewing is easy and required. Students will need to provide fabric for their rug. These rugs were traditionally made with used clothing and fabrics (we call this upcycling now) Cotton fabrics work best Jeans, wool, button style shirts, skirts, sheets, curtains, new fabric and even towels work A complete material list will be sent to participants in advance. A $25 materials fee is due to the instructor on the first day of class All ages welcome, children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult
