On September 7, 2022, Baptist Health celebrated National Grateful Patient Day — a day to show our healthcare workers the appreciation they deserve.

Meet Grateful Patient And Annual Giving Donor

TERESA FRONTADO:

When she was diagnosed with breast cancer, Teresa Frontado, mother of two, chose Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute for her care. She was thankful for the Institute’s renowned physicians, leadingedge treatments and emotionally supportive caregivers. She was also impressed by the holistic therapies — such as visual arts, craft making and music — which are all funded by donors. It made a difference not only to her but for her family. “What my daughter saw during her visits to Miami Cancer Institute really changed her perspective,” Frontado says. “She told me, ‘Mami, I was afraid of coming today, and I’ve been very afraid because you’re sick. But I’m so happy that I came, and I’m not afraid anymore.’ That was a game-changer for me, because I don’t want my children to be afraid. My daughter said, ‘Mami, I think you’re going to be OK.’” Grateful for the care she received, Frontado donates to support the Institute. “It’s a luxury, a privilege to have Miami Cancer Institute in our community,” she says. “I want more women who are going through this experience to get the care that I got.”
