Grateful patient establishes planned gift to benefit Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute.

For years, Robert Neuwelt and his late wife Eva received exceptional care at Baptist Health. In 2014, Neuwelt suffered a sudden stroke and brain hemorrhage. He underwent a successful surgery performed by Vitaly Siomin, M.D., director of cerebral vascular surgery at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute, but soon after suffered two seizures, which were treated by Institute neurologist Alberto Pinzon Ardila, M.D.

Neuwelt gradually recovered and today lives a normal life, which includes skiing in the winter and fishing and golfing the rest of the year. He was immensely grateful for the care he received at the Institute and felt a strong desire to give back. He decided to donate his condominium to Baptist Health, retaining a life estate, and in return he will receive income for the rest of his life and an immediate income tax deduction.

The gift of a home with a Retained Life Estate is a great way to make a meaningful impact, especially for anyone considering a gift to Baptist Health from their will or trust. Neuwelt is thankful that he had this opportunity to make a difference.

“I hope my gift will ensure that future patients will have the same care and therapies I received, with even more preventive options,” he said. Baptist Health Foundation is truly grateful for the foresight and generosity of Eva and Robert Neuwelt.
