Volunteer of the Year
At the close of fiscal year 2022, Baptist Health Foundation named Jim Carr Volunteer of the Year in recognition of his contributions and ability to connect with others through his passion for supporting Baptist Health.
When past Baptist Health Board of Trustees Chair Jim Carr first joined the Foundation board, he immediately embodied the philosophy that the more you give, the more you receive. As an ambassador for the Foundation, he has inspired many others to join him along the way.
He rapidly moved into a leadership role, becoming chair of the Foundation board in 1997. Upon completion of his term, his successor took over, but he was asked to step back in and complete the term as chairperson in 2003, making him the only person to have served as Board chair twice.
Carr has also given generously through his residential development company, CC Homes. He and his partner, Armando Codina, recently contributed $1 million to Baptist Health Foundation as a challenge grant, divided among four of the organization’s entities: Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute and Baptist Health Orthopedic Institute. This gift serves to inspire others to invest in transforming the future of healthcare in South Florida.
Carr is an integral part of Baptist Health. We are very grateful for his commitment to our mission, and proud to call him a friend.
