Community Outreach
At Baptist Health, we pride ourselves on discovering new ways to promote health and wellness. Philanthropy empowers us to provide important, targeted community interaction for those who may not otherwise have access.

In 2022, more than 3,900 student athletes were impacted by Baptist Health Orthopedic Institute’s Youth Athletic Outreach Program, which provides preventive care and treatment for injuries. Philanthropic support enables clinicians from the Institute to be onsite at all Miami-Dade County Public School varsity football games to provide care to those who need it and supports free EKGs and pre-participation screenings for high school athletes in Miami-Dade County.

To create opportunities for health and wellness in the Florida Keys, Baptist Health Mariners Hospital offers scholarships to individuals who are unable to afford a gym membership. The scholarships provide residents access to the hospital’s Wellness Center, encouraging consistent exercise to improve and prevent health issues. Philanthropy helped fund scholarships that impacted more than 40 residents in 2022.

The Homestead Community Health Center, affiliated with Baptist Health Homestead Hospital, delivers compassionate, patient-focused care to the South Dade community. Philanthropic dollars supporting community outreach have helped the center provide important medications to their underserved patients — migrant workers, undocumented immigrants and the homeless — allowing them to better manage preventable symptoms that could lead to further complications or hospitalization if left untreated.
Baptist Health West Kendall Baptist Hospital’s Healthy West Kendall initiative brings together business leaders, local government, health department officials, schools, churches, police/fire departments, civic organizations and neighbors to support healthy, active lifestyles and address the key factors that influence our health. Throughout the year, philanthropy helped support Healthy West Kendall initiatives benefiting the entire community.
