Staffing & Quality Care
Baptist Health strives to hire and retain the best staff and show appreciation for those who give so much of themselves to enhance the patient experience. Philanthropy affords us the unique opportunity to bring new and impactful services to our facilities by supporting staffing needs and allows us to say thankyou to our hard-working healthcare workers.
Baptist Health Mariners Hospital — part of Baptist Health Cancer Care — is one of just two hospitals in the Florida Keys that offer medical oncology services. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, patients in the Keys can receive their cancer care close to home, avoiding the long drive to Miami. More than 1,000 patients benefited from the services in 2022.
The generosity of our donors has helped launch and support key initiatives to enhance the patient experience at Baptist Health South Miami Hospital. Funded entirely by philanthropy, two bedside transition nurses are leading an initiative that allows a mother and her baby to remain together immediately after delivery. Bedside transition serves many purposes, including no separation upon delivery, greater patient satisfaction, reduced healthcare costs and better outcomes for both mother and baby. Thanks to donor support, bedside transition is improving maternal newborn bonding — skin-to-skin contact to help maintain temperature and metabolic levels, while also promoting breastfeeding.

Through initiatives graciously funded by our donors, we have found many ways to show our staff how valued they are. Healthcare workers at Baptist Health Baptist Hospital and Baptist Health Doctors Hospital were celebrated throughout the year with meals, relief packages and other tokens of appreciation. Philanthropy allows Baptist Health to give back to those who give so much to our patients.
