A Message from the President It gives me great pleasure in introducing the 19th ediion of the Ayrshire Golf Associaion Yearbook. It is a true honour to be elected as the Associaion President and I would like to thank all the member clubs and members across Ayrshire for giving me this opportunity. The past year has seen the Covid Pandemic coninue to disrupt and affect all aspects of life, however the one posiive to be taken was that golf, for the most, was allowed to coninue as normal. The way in which our golf clubs have dealt with all the problemaic situaions and restricions they have been faced with is extremely commendable.

The clubs coninued to adapt to the restricions in a posiive manner throughout 2021. This led to joy for Ayrshire golfers and allowed President John Wat and The Execuive to roll out a full golfing calendar with all scheduled and extended compeiions going ahead. A huge thank you must go to the clubs and the President for making this happen.
The past year saw Ayrshire golf have another successful year for the U18s secion, most notably on the weekend of the 11th-12th September when the team of Max Barclay (Belleisle), Connor Wills (St Nicholas), Jack Allan (Ballochmyle) and Harvey Broadfoot (Troon Welbeck) won the Scoish Boys Area Team Championship at Dullatur GC. This was a real team effort and a true reward for all the work and efforts put in by both the boys and The Execuive over the years. In the West of Scotland league, the U18s were pipped in their bid for a 3rd itle in a row ater topping the league on points but narrowly missing out on the countback for the itle. This consistency shows the amount of fantasic talent coming through within the county. Internaionally, Ayrshire individuals were at the forefront for some very presigious events. Ruben Lindsay (Turnberry) was selected for the GB & I team to play for the Jaques Leglise Trophy. He also represented Scotland in the Home Internaionals, alongside Stuart Easton (Irvine). Paul Moultrie (Royal Troon) represented Scotland at Seniors level in the Seniors Home Internaionals and the Seniors European Team Championships. Huge congratulaions must go to Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) on an incredible achievement of winning the Women’s Amateur Championship, winning the Smyth Salver at the Woman’s Scoish Open, and on being selected for the Curis Cup team. Within the county there were some brilliant individual performances with John Shanks (Irvine) and Steven McEwan (Caprington) breaking their respecive course records and young Harvey Broadfoot winning 3 county itles in the Junior Strokeplay, Matchplay and Order of Merit events. The extended compeiions saw a fantasic level of support with a lot of the trophies seeing first ime winners’ names engraved upon them. I would like to congratulate and thank all the winners and paricipaing clubs of 2021. Long may this support coninue. As we head into the 2022 season and with the covid pandemic sill very much part of everyday life I would encourage all the member clubs to coninue in their support of county golf and all members to keep supporing their clubs as much as possible through, what is hopefully the end of these challenging imes. Finally, I would like to give sincere thanks to all the amazing courses, clubs and hardworking Execuive and club commitees who help to facilitate and support our brilliant county. The Ayrshire Golf Associaion will coninue do all we can to support all golfers within Ayrshire. I wish you all a very happy and successful 2022 golfing season, please stay safe.
