Coaching The coaching scheme coninued under the direcion of Scot Gilchrist, to enhance squad development for the Ayrshire County teams, despite the challenges posed by COVID restricions. In 2022 Sandy walker will take over the lead on the coaching scheme. Prestwick golf club coninued to provide excepional support in 2021 for the coaching scheme, allowing use of their faciliies throughout the programme. Club coaching grants, to support individual coaching schemes within member clubs, were curtailed due to COVID consideraions but the scheme will be in place again in 2022. Once again thanks must be recorded for the efforts of our coaching professionals Richard Gordon (Ayr Belleisle) and David Fleming (Prestwick), and Brian Milligan of Fitpit gym in Troon, who enthusiasically coninue to deliver and develop the coaching scheme along with The Associaion each year.

Youth Team Robert Wilson and Sandy Walker managed the youth team again in 2021, and will coninue in their roles in 2022, assisted by new Execuive member Ross Caddis. In the West of Scotland Inter County League, the first match of the season, at home to Glasgow at Largs, resulted in a 5–3 defeat. This was followed by three successive 4 – 4 draws, away to Sirlingshire at Dunblane New, at home to Lanarkshire at Prestwick St. Cuthbert and at home to Renfrewshire at Troon Darley, before the series concluded with a 4.5-3.5 defeat to Dumbartonshire at Douglas Park. Ayrshire finished in fourth place, behind league champions Dumbartonshire. The annual match with the South of Scotland has fallen vicim to COVID restricions for the past two seasons, but it is hoped that the fixture will return in 2022. boys Team Scot Gilchrist led the boy’s team in 2021, assisted by Sandy Walker who will take over the running of the boys’ team in 2022, and it proved to be a memorable season, when the team of Harvey Broadfoot, Jack Allan, Max Barclay and Connor Wills won the Scoish Boys’ Area Team Championship at Dullatur in September to record Ayrshire’s third win in the forty four year history of the event, ater previous successes in 1998 and 2007. With both foursomes scores in the morning and three of the four aternoon singles scores combining towards the team total, a good score in the morning format by both pairings is vital. The pairings of Connor Wills and Harvey Broadfoot (75) and Jack Allan and Max Barclay (77) saw Ayrshire jointly lead ater the foursomes, along with The North, on 152. In the singles, Harvey (70), Max (71), Jack (78) and Connor (82) established a team total of 371, which gave them the itle by a clear six shots from the runners up from The Lothians.
