OTHER NOTAbLE PERfORMANCES DuRING THE YEAR Ayrshire players had several notable performances at a naional level during 2021, with the county also being well represented in various internaional squads during the year. Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) produces a stunning result at Kilmarnock Barassie in June when she became the first Ayrshire golfer to win the Woman’s Amateur Championship since legendary Troon golfer Helen Holm did so in 1934 and 1938. The 21 year old Sirling University student defeated fellow Scot Hannah Darling in the semi-final and played Denmark’s Jóhanna Lea Lúðvíksdóir in the 36 hole final, which she won by 9&8, the largest winning margin in the final in the history of the tournament.
