PHOTOGRAPHY AS LEVEL OVERVIEW

Entry requirements

The photography course is for anyone with a keen interest in photography and creativity.

Course content and structure:

Students that take this course will have an opportunity to develop personal visual responses and learn the practical and theoretical skills involved within the subject.

Students will be expected to create one extended body of work that will form the basis of Component 1, worth 100% of your marks and overall grade.

Component 1 – 100%

The Personal Creative Enquiry is internally determined, teacher assessed and externally moderated. There is no specified time limit other than internally assessed centre marks being submitted by the exam board’s deadline.

Head of Department Mrs L Tangi

It is useful but not essential if you have studied an Arts course at GSCE.

What is essential is that you should have a creative aptitude and are enthusiastic about photography. If you have completed an Arts based GCSE (such as Art, Engineering, DT, Textiles etc) you will need to have achieved a grade 6. If you have not completed an Arts based GCSE but have a genuine passion or interest and most importantly, ability, we will consider your application. You will need to provide evidence of work you have produced in your own time in a portfolio. This can be done during Year 11 or at the start of the course.
