A Message From Liz

Dear Team,

As we continue to navigate the everevolving landscape of healthcare in our country, I want to take a moment to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to ensuring that everyone in our community has access to the care they need. Healthcare should not be a privilege—it should be available to all, regardless of background, income, or circumstances.

At Axis Community Health, we work every day to break down barriers that prevent people from getting the medical, behavioral, and supportive services they deserve. Whether it’s financial challenges, language barriers, or gaps in resources, we are committed to finding solutions that help individuals and families receive the care they need to live healthier lives. In light of the current public health landscape, we are actively collaborating with our county, state, and federal partners to influence policies and practices that continue to improve access to care for all members of our community

Most importantly, we remain dedicated to treating every patient with dignity, respect, and compassion. Everyone who walks through our doors should feel valued, heard, and supported in their healthcare journey. I am incredibly proud of the work we do together and the lasting impact we are making. If you ever have thoughts, questions, or ideas about how we can continue strengthening our work, I’m always happy to discuss please feel free to send me an email. Thank you for your dedication—your commitment truly makes a difference!

As our Love Yourself: February Self-Care Celebration comes to a close, I just want to take a moment to say thank you. I hope you were able to take some time for yourself, show kindness to others, and feel the positive impact of small, intentional acts. Taking care of ourselves isn’t just something we do for a month it’s something we should carry with us every day. Let’s keep that momentum going and continue supporting each other, our patients, and our community with the same kindness and care.

Appreciate you all!

A February Self-Care Celebration Recap

Thank you to everyone who participated in this month’s Love Yourself activities!

Together we explored how we care for ourselves and one another, showing gratitude, positive affirmations, and how even the smallest gestures of kindness can positively impact our well-being.

We also wore RED in honor of all the hearts and shared images of hearts as February celebrates American Heart Month and Valentine’s Day! Take a look at what some staff shared:

Mental Health Resources for Kids and Young Adults

Mental health is a vital component of overall well-being, and addressing issues early in life can yield profound and lasting benefits. Early identification, accurate diagnosis, and effective treatment of mental health conditions in children and adolescents enhance their ability to thrive in various aspects of life.

Early intervention is essential as it helps children reach developmental milestones, improves focus and academic performance, enhances social skills, and prevents more severe problems in adulthood. By addressing these issues early, children can develop healthy coping mechanisms and build a strong foundation for long-term mental health and quality of life.

Axis is excited to share two free mental health resources for young people provided by the State of California:

COMPLIANCE CORNER

NEW SERVICE ANIMAL POLICY

Email corporatecompliance@axishealth.org or call x6211 if you have any compliance related questions.

Axis Community Health is committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for all patients, staff, and visitors. In compliance with state and federal regulations, we welcome service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the California Disabled Persons Act (CDPA).

Please note that emotional support animals (ESAs), comfort animals, and therapy animals are not considered service animals under the ADA and CDPA and are not permitted in our facilities

To ensure compliance, our staff may ask the following two questions to determine if an animal qualifies as a service animal: Is the dog required because of a disability? 1. What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? 2.
