Trick or Treaters – It’s that time of year again!! Audubon Place will be sending a notice to your door for trick or treaters. If you wish to welcome trick or treaters and hand out candy, please hang the notice on your door on October 31st. The Audubon Place staff asks that trick or treaters only visit those doors that have the notice hung. Thank you! Property Painting – The painters have completed the exterior painting of buildings 1 and 2, and will be on property finishing the touch up of those buildings over the next few weeks. Residents will not have to do anything in preparation of this touch up, as it will be directed toward the trim of the buildings and inside the breezeways. Do to the upcoming weather and unforeseen scheduling conflicts, the painters will be taking a break from painting and will resume property painting in February, if not sooner. Once the schedule has been confirmed, we will send you updated notification. They will begin again on building 3 and will continue sequentially until they have completed the community. The clubhouse, amenities, and garages will be the last items they complete. Property Landscaping – We have a lot of great landscaping upgrades happening this month!! This month the landscapers will be installing our fall annual flowers at the clubhouse and front entrance! We are so excited to have new flowers just in time for the season! They will also be touching up the mulch around the community. In addition, they will be completing an upgrade to the green fence behind buildings 5 and 6. The design will include the installation of additional flowering dogwood trees, loropetalum shrubs, and flowering vines that will continue to grow and fill in the fence line. Recipe of the Month:

Pumpkin Swirl Brownies

Ingredients: • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 1/2 cup butter, melted • 1 1/2 cups white sugar • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract • 3 Eggs • 1/2 cup cocoa powder • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips • 1 cup pumpkin puree • 1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice Instructions: 1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees, and line or grease an 8x8 inch baking pan. 2. Stir the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl. 3. In a medium sauce pot over medium heat, melt butter. Continue to cook while it foams and stir constantly until it browns and you see some brown specks at the bottom and it starts to smell a bit toasted. Remove from heat. 4. Once butter cools a bit, add sugar and vanilla extract. 5. Next, beat in the eggs one at a time with a spoon. Gradually add the flour mixture, and stir the batter until it's evenly moistened. 6. Add half the batter to a separate large bowl. Into one bowl of batter, blend the cocoa powder and chocolate chips. In the second bowl of batter, stir in the pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice. 7. Spread 1/2 of the chocolate batter into the bottom of the prepared baking pan, and follow with all of the pumpkin batter. The chocolate batter will be much thicker than the pumpkin batter. 8. For the remaining chocolate batter, you can either spoon it on top or you can put it in a plastic bag, snip off the corner, and squeeze it onto the pumpkin in strips. Use a butter knife or a spatula to swirl the two batters together to create a marbled appearance. 9. Bake in the preheated oven until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan, and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 40 to 45 minutes. 10. Cool in the pan, cut into squares, and serve.
