This year, we are proud to bring ASM Global Voices to ALL team members!

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Just a few months ago, we held our first joint-company Town Hall. A short amount of time but a lot has been accomplished, with much more ahead of us. In that call, I shared that “the next era of Legends and ASM Global starts now.” With such a big opportunity in front of us, we are focusing all resources on our immediate opportunities. Recently, we established a new combined executive team and are now running as ONE company. We have an incredible opportunity in front of us to build an industry-defining company. I can’t wait to go on this journey together.

Check out these pictures of team members around the globe watching the first ASM Global & Legends Town Hall that took place on August 27th, 2024!

A NOTE FROM SHAUNA

Can you believe that we are weeks out from closing the book on 2024?

What an incredible year it has been! Around the globe, we amazed guests with exciting experiences in live entertainment, we created brand ambassadors through successful partnerships, we continued to expand on the vibrancy of our workforce, and we grew our footprint in the communities that we serve through our commitment to philanthropic impact. These are just a few of our 2024 highlights… For these reasons and many more we will take the same passion, pace, and purpose into 2025.

But before that happens, we need to wrap up our last big initiative of this year… Global Month of Giving – Happening Now! November 15th set in motion our annual commitment to giving back. Team members and venues worldwide have joined together to uplift communities through donations and volunteer efforts. Newly added to this year, our Legends team members. Legends has fully embraced Global Month of Giving and is excited to lend their time and energy to a mission that will change the lives of others. United we stand, ready to double down and make a difference through giving.

The Future -

On the horizon, is a new year sure to bring excitement and adventure for team members around the world. Kicking off, with our deal being complete and becoming a part of the Legends community. Legends brings a wealth of knowledge within the venue management and operations space and has been committed to delivering exceptional experiences worldwide. This partnership between Legends and ASM Global is one that will rock our industry. Bringing together two such talented and active workforces, is going to be electric. January 2025, starts the cohesion of our priorities, focuses, and goals. All streamlining from the center of our business... our culture. As we move forward as one team, we will continue to ensure a wonderful experience for all team members. With a combined portfolio of 500+ venues and 70K team members globally we truly are in the #1 spot to continue to elevate the spirit of live for all that walk through our doors.

Next year and beyond we will continue our intentional focus around our people… YOU! Keeping your training, career journey, and our culture top of mind. Thank You for all your efforts this year, and for knocking 2024 out of the park!

As we get ready to close the book on this year – I would like to extend warm wishes to you and your loved ones. Happy Holidays & I look forward to working together next year.

Legends and ASM Global are coming together to make a bigger impact than ever with our first combined team member initiative—the 2024 Global Month of Giving!

As we kick off our third year of this incredible community effort, we’re thrilled to now have the Legends team alongside us. Together, we have the chance to double our impact, touching more lives and supporting even more communities around the world. Thank you for bringing your energy and dedication to this important effort!

October’s powerhouse of inspiration comes from Paula Portz, COO Legends Project Development & breast cancer survivor. Tune in (click on the video below) as Paula shares her breast cancer journey. Through Paula’s story, we learn about the power in surviving breast cancer.

- Hosted by: Ashley Griffin

Q: When did you find out you had cancer?

A: “I had a mammogram in February 2014, and everything looked fine. Then later that summer I was experiencing pain in my breast that caused me to have to take my bra off. At the end of August, I went back to get checked because I could feel a pebble like lump in my breast. I was sent in for a biopsy and on Labor Day weekend received the call I had breast cancer”.

Q: What advice do you have for anyone currently facing breast cancer or supporting a loved one with it?

A: Find a support group where you can discuss what you are going through, share experiences, feelings, treatments and recovery. There are so many women and families that have been through the same exact thing and know that you are not alone.

Member Spotlight

John Page - Regional Vice President

John’s story is rather unique. He has never worked anywhere else but in convention centers, arenas, and stadiums. Starting off in the industry at age 14, convincing the General Manager of his hometown arena to give him a job, John continued working in venues throughout high school and college. After a chance meeting with Bob Newman (Former President, ASM Global), that turned into a job offer, John began professionally with ASM Global in the live entertainment industry.

Beginning with an internship at our Greater Columbus Convention Center, John cycled through all convention center positions and departments during an 18-month time span, John had the opportunity to build relationships and really learn and understand how a successful venue operates. After successfully completing his internship, John moved into Project Coordinator and Project Manager roles at Greater Columbus before ultimately accepting the position of Operations Manager. One more promotion to Senior Operations Manager would wrap up John’s 5 years at Greater Columbus. From there, he took on three career growth roles – Director of Operations, Assistant General Manager and General Manager for ASM Global in Savannah, Georgia. John spent a total of 8 years in Georgia, before being presented with the opportunity to come home to Ohio. John returned to Columbus, where he worked as a General Manager at our Greater Columbus Convention Center before being promoted to Regional General Manager and then to his current role of Regional Vice President of Convention Centers. When asked for a quote on his 26-year career with ASM Global, John said “The passion for what I do has never left me from Day One…. Hard Work Pays Off”.

THE UNITED STATES

ASM GLOBAL FOUNDATION AWARDS 100 SCHOLARSHIPS TO LOCAL STUDENTS

The ASM Global Stars Scholarship Program stands as a testament to our long-standing commitment to fostering educational and career development opportunities in diverse and under-resourced communities. This year has been particularly special, as we’ve awarded a record number of 100 scholarships, valued at $250,000 – doubling last year’s awards. These scholarships are empowering high school seniors and college undergraduates pursuing careers in business, hospitality, entertainment, sports management, media, IT, and design across the many cities where ASM Global operates.

As we celebrate this milestone, it’s the voices of our scholars that truly capture the impact of this program. For many, the scholarship represents more than financial relief – it is a lifeline to pursuing their dreams. We are honored to support such passionate, driven students from our local communities and look forward to witnessing their continued success.

I am currently a full-time student and a fulltime employee working as a chef. I have been working in kitchens since I was a teenager, after my mother and I immigrated to the United States. This scholarship greatly eases my financial burden, allowing me to work fewer hours and focus more on my studies.

The financial relief from this scholarship means so much to me, especially as a child of refugees with limited support. Thank you for your confidence in me and my abilities to accomplish my aspirations of integrating equity into the informational technology field to give back to communities like my own.

By awarding me the ASM Global Stars Scholarship, you have lightened my financial burden, which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school: learning. Your generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to the community.

BUILDING BRIGHT FUTURES: CELEBRATING ASM GLOBAL SCHOLARS IN OUR VENUES

As part of the ASM Global Stars Scholarship Program, our scholars have been celebrated across our venues, offering them a front-row seat to the inner workings of our industry. From exclusive venue tours to career shadowing, event invitations, and even seeing their names up in lights on jumbotrons, these celebrations have made them feel truly welcomed into the ASM Global family.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated team members who have embraced the local scholars and coordinated these memorable celebrations. Your commitment to recognizing and uplifting these talented individuals is invaluable.

In New Orleans, Andy shadowed during a Saints game at the Superdome. Reflecting on his experience, Andy shared “I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank Evelyn for arranging today’s tour and for allowing me to shadow the Marketing team. The experience was invaluable, and I truly appreciate the chance to observe the inner workings of the department and the Superdome. John was a fantastic host, and I learned a lot from him during the day. It was a privilege to see how things operate firsthand.”

In El Paso, Mia and Franco had a similar experience when visiting the El Paso Convention Center. After her tour, Mia expressed her enthusiasm for an opportunity to intern with ASM Global, writing, “I am very interested in interning with ASM Global as it seems like a wonderful opportunity for me! I had a great experience at the El Paso Convention Center with Lauren Falco and learned a lot.”

In Philadelphia, Grace and Nang Noom were celebrated by Dominique Bonds during the Front & Center LIVE event at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Their recognition at this prestigious event demonstrated the venue’s commitment to embracing the scholars and making them feel part of the community.

In Minneapolis, Iman and Joseph were in awe to see their names displayed on the jumbotron at US Bank Stadium. Beth McWilliams shared that Joseph had a particularly emotional celebration, where his mom, aunt, and grandparents, who traveled from Africa, joined him on his visit. Afterward, Joseph wrote a heartfelt post on LinkedIn about the significance of the scholarship to him and his family.

In Chicago, Julia and Ariba experienced an exclusive tour of Soldier Field with Maggie Szot. Following the tour, they inquired about participating in future service events, inspired by learning about their sustainability initiatives and community outreach efforts. Their eagerness to get involved demonstrates how the scholarship program not only supports their academic journeys but also fosters a deeper connection to the values we uphold as a company.

Each of these moments showcases how the ASM Global Stars Scholarship Program extends beyond financial aid. This program helps bridge the gap between academic pursuits and real-world professional experiences, giving scholars firsthand exposure to the dynamic environments that make ASM Global venues so impactful.

Through these celebrations, we affirm our ongoing commitment to supporting scholars in their educational and career journeys, ensuring they feel seen, valued, and inspired to continue striving toward their goals. As our program grows, so does our vision for the future. With each scholarship awarded, we are investing in the future of live events, empowering scholars to realize their potential, and ensuring that they have the networks needed to excel in their careers.

Thank you to our amazing team members for your unwavering support and for making these celebrations possible. Your efforts are vital in empowering our scholars and shaping the future of experiential entertainment.

Meridian Centre celebrates its 10th anniversary

The Meridian Centre is celebrating its 10th anniversary year. Since opening its doors in 2014, the venue has welcomed close to two million guests, bringing world-class events and unforgettable experiences to St. Catharines and the surrounding regions. While celebrations will continue throughout the year, the official anniversary celebration will take place this October 20th when our tenant, the Niagara IceDogs take on the Kingston Frontenacs.

Along with our venue’s anniversary, we are also celebrating five of our full-time team members who have been here since the beginning, a testament to the kind of team we have in St. Catharines. To commemorate this occasion, we had custom bobble heads made for each of them! We would like to take this time to thank our dedicated staff for all their hard work and accomplishments throughout the years!

TEAM MEMBER DAY OF APPRECIATION & RECOGNITION

Here at the Avenir Centre, we realize, appreciating & recognizing our team members for their hard work and dedication is a key component to driving our business growth and our overall success.

By recognizing and appreciating our team members, we increase morale, enhance the employee experience, improve the workplace culture and build a stronger team.

That is why on August 30th, 2024, we celebrated our full-time team members for all their hard work and dedication by taking them out for a day of appreciation and recognition.

We started the day by gathering at the Avenir Centre, boarded a shuttle bus and took them to Pointe-du-chene wharf for a 2-hour boat cruise touring the beautiful Shediac Bay. The weather was magnificent, the food was incredible but what was truly amazing was how we bonded as a team, held great conversations and shared in a few laughs. The team felt truly appreciated and recognized for all their efforts.

In closing, appreciating and recognizing our team members is something we take to heart and try to show on a daily basis. We realize it doesn’t always need to be a grand gesture, a simple thank you goes a long way.

We enjoyed a quarter full of fun!

We began the quarter with our classic “Family Event” Here in Uruguay, July is the time for our winter holidays and the schedule of Antel Arena was full of family shows. We selected one event to invite all the kids of each team member’s families (sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, godchildren or even other relatives). This initiative allows kids to get to see their mum’s, dad’s or uncle’s workplace and also increases the pride which each team member has for their workplace. Telling family members about the magic that happens at work is not the same as taking part in a live event! Following the event, all the kids want to work in Antel Arena when they grow up. Of course, we treated them to special food and beverages and a little present as a surprise.

Our first “Family Event” was held in 2019 and since then it has become one of the most anticipated events of the year. Continuing with our celebrations, we hosted a get-together after work to “Celebrate Birthdays of the Quarter”. This event was held at “Hard Rock Cafe Montevideo”. Where else would be more perfect to combine music and good food? This type of event is great for building team spirit. It is not just to have a good time, but also an opportunity to get to know the person behind the position and to feel a sense of being part of something bigger than ourselves: a group of people passionate about the live entertainment industry. Finally, we celebrated “Father’s Day” with the dads on our team by giving them a delicious chocolate present to remind them of their important role in their kids’ lives. Here at ASM Global Uruguay, we strive to provide our team members the opportunity for work-life balance.

Last but not least, it is the last quarter of the year, where wonderful things are coming, such as the, “Month of Giving” “Last Quarter Birthdays Celebration” and of course “The end of the year party”.

We always find excuses to celebrate and create memorable moments for our team members to feel proud about being part of ASM Global Company.

ASM Global once again conquer Music Mudder in aid of charity partner Nordoff and Robbins. This September ASM Global continued their alliance with the UK’s leading music therapy charity Nordoff and Robbins.

Nordoff and Robbins uses the power of music to enrich the lives of people affected by life-limiting physical and mental illness, disabilities or feelings of isolation. They meet the growing need for music therapy by training music therapists and ensuring that their skills are not only maintained but developed. They provide a range of different sessions for children and adults of all ages from specialised one-to-one music therapy to shared sessions for groups. A truly great cause and a fantastic organisation to be associated with.

As part of our ongoing commitment in supporting Nordoff and Robbins, a group of ASM Global team members once again came together to take on Music Mudder, an endurance event that sees teams from across the music industry take on an adrenaline-pumping outdoor obstacle course in Surrey UK.

The 7.5km course required the team to complete challenging obstacles resulting in some wet and muddy participants!

A big congratulations to the team for raising a total of £9,000 in aid of Nordoff and Robbins.

BEING A CORNERSTONE OF MANCHESTER’S CITY CENTRE

FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS, THE AO ARENA TEAM ARE ALWAYS KEEN TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITIES THAT HAVE SHAPED US.

AO ARENA – COMMUNITY CORNER

Over the past 12 months, we’ve strengthened our partnerships with charities, stakeholders, and event organisers across the City. After donating hours of our team member’s time earlier in the year to a charity close to our hearts, (quite literally, as they’re on our doorstep), the team are back supporting Coffee 4 Craig with an Autumn donation drive. This will ensure Manchester’s homeless and more vulnerable communities have the essentials they need to stay warm, healthy and safe as the season’s turn. The team have also regularly donated food items from our kitchens over the past year, easing the growing pressure on the hard work put in by the Coffee 4 Craig team and delivering fresh, nutritious and delicious homemade food to those who need it most.

We’ve also developed an important ongoing partnership with The Christie Charity, following our successful fundraising campaign throughout the Girls Aloud bank holiday weekend. From charity buckets to a moving collaboration with Manchester’s Flower Festival, the AO Arena team raised thousands for the charity, and bagged a signed Girls Aloud poster that’s for auction. The auction also included a table for 2 in The Mezz Restaurant, helping to raise a massive £250,000 for the charity that will undoubtedly have a significant positive impact on Christie patients.

Following the success of our charity partnerships, we launched ticket bank donations to our team members chosen charities, which has included Transmutual Aid, Burnt Chef, The Christie Charity and Coffee 4 Craig. It’s important to us that we listen to the foundations that are close to the people that mean the most to us, and utilise our platform to influence change in a way that directly benefits our team.

We’re back supporting the second consecutive year of Beyond the Music too. As a founding member, we’re proud to support the ‘Pay it Forward’ initiative, ensuring that the grassroots conference is accessible to all across the long-weekend event.

Building on this, we’re committed to making sure that people from all walks of life have a clear route to the industry without facing barriers to entry. This year, we hosted Production Futures first ever Arena event, welcoming thousands of local students making their debut in the live entertainment space, from lighting and AV to media and marketing, we couldn’t have been prouder to support the UK’s largest production tour to date.

We’ve put the work in internally too, as we’ve started a Lunch and Learns series to encourage our talented venue team to share their hobbies, passions and interests. Not only do we have the pleasure of learning more about a new skill, but it also creates a great opportunity for some downtime and team bonding during our very busy work schedule. So far we’ve tried our hand at Macrame and tackled the complex world of AI, with more exciting and surprising topics yet to be discovered!

It also wouldn’t be October without the return of our Halloween Monsters! This year, Wobbly Williams is set to grace the roof of Arena Point for a ‘spook-tacular’ weekend. Maintaining these relationships with our City’s key stakeholders continues to open doors for our venue, as well as being vital to our positioning as we enter a milestone year!

We’re continuing to make better choices when it comes to sustainability too. From handdelivering left-over treats to local charities, working closely with Guardians of Grub and installing new refillable water stations across the Upper Concourse, we’re taking small but mighty steps to ensure our Arena is not only green on the inside, but greener to the outside world, too!

recently visited ASM Global in Stockholm, Sweden for an exclusive open house. During the event, students engaged with Venue Managers, who shared insights into the complexities of their roles, offering firsthand knowledge from their collaboration with leading organizers and sports clubs. The students also toured Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, which not only serves as home to two of Sweden’s top football clubs but also hosts internationally renowned artists and large corporate events, including banquets. This exchange is an essential part of promoting ASM Global and Legends as the premier global leader in venue management and development.

Each year, numerous students apply for a five-month internship with the Stockholm team. During this period, interns work closely with Venue Managers, initially taking on smaller projects before gradually assuming more responsibility, including direct interaction with clients and partners. “In close collaboration with our HR team, we invest considerable effort in our annual trainee program. It’s highly rewarding for both the students and my team. Even though not all students can be offered a position, they leave with a strong impression of our expertise and an understanding of our core values in the industry. Several of my top-performing Venue Managers have come to us through the schools we partner with today,” shares Åsa Sandström, Senior Head of Planning.

Jenny Andreasson, one of the most experienced Venue Managers in Stockholm, once studied at one of the visiting schools. “Sharing my experience with the students and giving them reallife examples from previous events gives me a lot of positive energy. Every year, we welcome 4-5 trainees, and our approach is to onboard them in a way that allows them to take on responsibilities independently while under supervision. After about five months, we’ve built a strong working relationship,” Jenny concludes. This trainee program has become a key component of the local strategy for cultivating new talent.

The Hidden Disability Sunflower –a global symbol of inclusiveness

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple tool that is used by those that have a disability or condition that may not be immediately apparent. The Sunflower indicates to service providers that the wearer might need a helping hand. Globally, 1 in 6 people live with a disability and just because we can’t see it, doesn’t mean it in not there.

Across our APAC and MENA venues, we have been working hard to ensure that all guests to our venues feel welcome, safe and included. The Hidden Disability Sunflower Scheme has helped us to support those in our communities identify themselves to our venue teams so that we are able to provide an extra level of service where needed. This ensures an inclusive event for all guests.

With many venues across the region already accredited, and the remainder in the process of gaining their accreditation, we look forward to providing an unparalleled guest experience for every visitor to our venues.

ASM Global (APAC) Focusing on Wellness

They take wellness and wellbeing pretty seriously in APAC. Over recent months there have been a number of initiatives undertaken to promote both mental and physical health. Here’s a snippet of what our friends have been up to.

The team at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) team enjoyed a fantastic day at the Merdeka Fun Run in KLCC Park! It was a great opportunity for the team to take a break, focus on fitness and do some serious bonding while celebrating Merdeka (Kuala Lumpur Independence Day) in the beautiful surroundings of KLCC Park.

The run was officially started by Robert Hatton-Jones (Deputy General Manager) and Muhammad Vickneswaran (Director of Human Resources), kicking off an energetic day at KLCC Park. Congratulations to everyone who participated and made the event a success! It certainly looked like everyone enjoyed themselves.

Meanwhile, at Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai, the venue hosted a team Wellness Event Day and it was a fantastic start to their event season! Perfect timing!

The event was a success, promoting health and well-being for their staff. The event was wellreceived by the team, with two thirds of staff joining in, embracing the opportunity to learn more about their health. From checking Blood Pressure and sugar levels to BMI assessments, Mental Health talks with a Psychologist, GP Consultations and Optical check-ups - it was all there. Positive feedback on the event was shared by the team, with many expressing appreciations for the company’s commitment wellness and health.

OK?, is a national charity dedicated to suicide prevention, that promotes health by fostering deeper personal connections and empowering friends, family, and colleagues to support those facing challenges, ensuring timely intervention before a crisis arises. It was a day filled with connections and conversations, as team members participated in events designed to encourage communication and support mental well-being. ASM Global Australian HR Leads Get Together

Our Australian People & Culture leaders gathered in Melbourne, Australia recently at the 2024 Australian Human Resources Institute conference – and what a week. The content of the conference was fabulous and there were many learnings that the group has taken away from the presentations and interactions they participated in across the program. Lifelong learning is a passion for most of us in the People & Culture space and the conference did not disappoint.

The real highlight of the week was that the ASM Global representatives met formally at the completion of the conference to discuss current challenges and opportunities our venues are experiencing and how our People & Culture teams can support their venues to thrive. Having that many People & Culture folk in the same room is a dangerous experiment but we can report that it all went incredibly well. We are looking forward to developing some of the ideas that were put forward and sharing them with our teams across our venues.
