This year, we are proud to bring ASM Global Voices to ALL team members!

RENEWALS

Congratulations to the following Team Members who were instrumental in working with the Corporate team and client to extend existing contracts and nurture our existing relationships.

BUILDING STRONG, VIBRANT COMMUNITIES REQUIRES COMMITMENTS THAT EXTEND BEYOND THE WALLS OF OUR VENUES.

Meet Brad Czachor, the Director of Facilities for the Baseball Stadium at Devon & Kedzie, McFetridge Sports Center, Morgan Park Sports Center, ComEd Rec Center, and the Dr Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center.

Tell us about your team

We are a unique team that blends resources from both Soldier Field and the Recreational Centers that we oversee. Each facility has its own individual team comprised of a Facility Manager, Program Coordinators and Instructors. Through our teams we entrench each facility in the community by offering drop in or open times, programming, camps, rentals, parties, and events. We also look for ways to partner with business or groups in the surrounding areas to further our reach.

How do you strengthen your local community?

We operate five facilities located in all different neighborhoods of the surrounding Chicago area. We have the opportunity and responsibility to engage diverse demographics and respond to distinct community desires, needs, and expectations. Our approach involves actively immersing ourselves in each community, fostering a sense of local pride by demonstrating our commitment to being an integral facility in their backyard.

We align with the mission statement of the Chicago Park District of providing opportunities for everyone, emphasizing affordability as a priority. We recruit and bring in professionals from different industries, whether in hockey, dance, or basketball, to give individuals access to world class programs within a public recreational facility.

What are some of your proudest moments?

For the last three years, the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center has featured two Big Ten showcase events and two mid-major NCAA Division 1 Conferences in track & field. Community Corner

Our reputation of being a world-class facility is spread ing as crowds fill the facility seats to watch the coun try’s fastest athletes, and other conferences are look ing to be a part of our schedule. We are very proud to contribute to the vitality of Chicago’s South Side. Equally important to showcasing our community, is giv ing back to the kids on the South Side. In many Chica go public schools, track practice is held in the school hallways as the gym is often occupied with other activ ities. To address this gap, we initiated a low-cost track and field youth training program at Gately Park. The opportunity to provide access to a state-of-the-art in door track and field facility with dedicated coaches to students has been incredibly impactful. This program, now in its second year, emphasizes foundational skills while fostering team dynamics. Last summer, 15 kids qualified for the outdoor championship in Eugene, Oregon. To ensure no one missed out due to financial constraints, we put together fundraising initiatives which included an auction for tickets for events at Soldier Field. The collective effort secured enough funds to cover the airfare and lodging for all the athletes, offering them a once-in-a-lifetime experience to compete at a national level in an iconic stadium.

GROW - INTERN SPOTLIGHT/ EXIT SURVEY

Our official ASM Global University Student Learning Program is LIVE for our 2nd year in a row! This educational initiative serves as the bridge between what we do in our venues all over the world and how we build our next generation of talented leaders. This year, we have asked all venues to participate by opening internship opportunities for university students. By the end of this year, our goal is to have hosted and mentored 150 students. Please join us as we continue to provide educational experiences to university students all over the world…

Last year, we created and implemented our very own GROW Exit Interview. This brief survey is sent to all university students as they transition out of the program. Asking them to share their thoughts and experiences so that we can continue to make our program the best. The feedback shared with us in 2023 was overwhelmingly positive! Further proving that our team members are committed to creating great internal experiences and enhancing the education that we are providing to students interning with us.

Benefits

Secure Act 2.0

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 (HR 2617) commonly called “Secure Act 2.0” made sweeping changes to employer sponsored 401(K) plans last year. For 2024, the act has introduced a new class of 401(k) eligible team members called “Long Term Part Time” (LTPT).

LTPT team members are allowed to contribute to 401(K) without employer match after working (500) hours in each of three consecutive calendar years 2021, 2022 & 2023. Recently HRBP’s were notified if they had any LTPT’s on their payroll, ASM had a total of (202) LTLP’s across (58) facilities.

The next window for LTPT enrollment will take place in January 2025, and will require team members to work (500) or more hours in each of two consecutive calendar years 2023 & 2024. Additional communications around this will follow at year end.

CANADA

MERIDIAN CENTRE & CANADA GAMES PARK DONATE CARDS TO SENIORS

This December, our Director of Marketing, Kay Meilleur, received an unexpected call that sparked an incredible initiative from our Canada Games Park (CGP) and Meridian Centre teams, just in time for the holiday season.

“I got a call from a hockey mom whose kids play in our arena. She asked if we could donate a room at CGP for a day so the Jr Badgers U11 girls hockey team could spread some festive joy by decorating cards and filling stockings for seniors spending the holidays alone without family. We not only provided the room free of charge but went the extra mile, adding holiday cookies, hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles. It quickly became an initiative our entire team rallied behind.

Our creative marketing staff crafted and printed cards for the whole team, reaching out to everyone for any donation, big or small. The response was incredible! Before we knew it, we had a treasure trove of stockings filled with goodies like slippers, playing cards, snacks, scarves, tissues, stress balls, crossword puzzles, and personalized handwritten cards.

Team members took the time to write heartfelt messages, some even adding charming drawings. Witnessing our entire team come together to support those less fortunate was truly heartening. We even started receiving stockings from the community!

The goal for the campaign was to donate around 3,000 stockings to seniors. Stockings of Love partnered with fantastic organizations like Meals on Wheels, March of Dimes, and Niagara Regional Housing to identify and deliver stockings to seniors living independently. While it

might not solve all their problems, it brings immeasurable joy to seniors, reminding them that someone cares, connecting them to fond memories and a sense of importance. The holiday season can be especially lonely for some seniors, and we were thrilled to play a part in ensuring they weren’t forgotten.

The decorating day brought immense joy to the kids, and they even had a surprise visit from Santa, who rolled up his fur sleeves and joined in on the decorating fun. In the end, the stocking team was able to deliver nearly 3000 stockings this year. We couldn’t be prouder of our team’s generosity, and we’re already thinking about how we can help make an even bigger impact next year. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this holiday season a little brighter for those in need!”

For New Year’s Eve 2023, Leon’s Center was hosting “The Glorious Sons” for a hometown concert that included a countdown celebration and ended well into 2024. Leon’s Center staff coordinated a photobooth for patrons at the event, and kicked off the evening by getting together in their best dress to take the first pictures in the booth.

AND THE CELEBRATIONS CONTINUES!

We said farewell to 2023 celebrating and sharing in a relaxed and fun way, as a team! In December, in addition to our traditional quarterly birthday celebration, the “New Year’s Eve” meeting was added to the agenda. On this occasion, a “barbecue” was organized at noon outside the Antel Arena offices, where 100% of the team participated and shared a relaxed, social time, with good music, prizes and presents for everyone. At the end, the “Christmas baskets” were delivered to all, containing typical sweets and goods.

NEW HIRE:

A woman recently joined the commercial team - Antel Arena has now 40% women in payroll, 35% of the leadership positions. All of this is aligned with ASM Global’s objective of an accelerated process of inclusion, investing in women.

ENGAGEMENT:

In 2023 we celebrated 6 years of managing Antel Arena - 75% of the team have been with us since the opening, in 2018!

Achieving this level of commitment and retention has many factors, but we have no doubt that the continuous review of our value proposition, a friendly working environment as well as updating benefits to stay competitive play important roles.

For this reason, we launched with great success in 2023 and continues in 2024 an event ticket policy for all team members and a home office policy according to event schedules and departments.

THE UNITED KINGDOM

BREAKING DOWN THE BARRIERS!

ASM Global Europe launches Mental Health First Aid across it’s UK venues!

I’m sure everyone can speak from experience when I say that Covid really brought the subject of mental health to a whole new level and the world as a result is now more accepting of those that experience poor mental health throughout the course of their lives.

That said however, there is still work to do in ensuring that we as a global organisation are supporting our teams in the best way possible. Particularly considering the current cost of living, inflationary and energy cost pressures. This is achieved through education, increasing awareness, focusing on prevention, and maintaining positive mental health through the practice of wellbeing techniques and exercises. To support this, we are in the process of

launching Mental Health First Aiders across the UK venues from March 2024. The subject of Mental Health First Aid is one that our venues have been extremely passionate about and we’re delighted to be able to come together in launching this fantastic initiative. One that I truly believe will add significant value to our teams.

The MHFA initiative started back in November 2023 when we launched a webinar to the business educating our teams on what it means to be a Mental Health First Aider. We had a fantastic response to the webinar seeing 85 people in attendance. We quickly followed this webinar with a communication to our teams on how to apply to become a Mental Health First Aider which involved the completion

BREAKING DOWN THE BARRIERS!

of an application form endorsed by their line manager followed by an interview to ensure we were recruiting the right people to the role with the right intentions.

As part of the interview process, it was important for us to ensure that we were able to represent as diverse a population as possible across all departments in the business. This will help to break down the barriers around mental health further, particularly if individuals in need can speak with someone they identify with. We had a fantastic application response to this, so much so we were unfortunately unable to appoint everyone that had applied.

I believe the most resounding aspect of the interview process however, was the fact that those that applied were not disappointed that they were not successful, they were more delighted with the fact that the business was implementing such an important initiative and making mental health support more widely available to its employees.

We’re now delighted to say that we will have 16 new Mental Health First Aiders being trained at the end of this month as part of a two-day course.

The course content covers some very sensitive topics such as suicide and self-harm, but the training is also focused on ensuring that those performing the role are

able to manage their own mental health safety.

Alongside others that have completed the MHFA training previously, we will have an MHFA community of 25+ which is fantastic. The team will form part of a Wellbeing Community who will meet monthly to discuss creative and proactive ways to increase awareness, remove the stigma and provide mental health support when it is needed the most. They will be at the heart of our Company wellbeing strategy. The community will also serve as a peer support group for those fulfilling the Mental Health First Aider role as it is critical that they too are able to maintain positive mental health when supporting others through what can be some very difficult, emotive, and challenging times. It will also enable the community to identify trends in the areas of support they have been providing meaning they can proactively think of ways to address these concerns across the wider venue estate.

I’m excited to see what we can achieve through this initiative. We have some very passionate Mental Health First Aiders with no shortage of ideas and I look forward to updating you on our success later in the year!

ASM GLOBAL’S STOCKHOLM LIVE TAKES CENTER STAGE IN CATERING OPERATIONS, BUILDING A YOUTHFUL TEAM FOR INTEGRATION AND OPPORTUNITIES

In a strategic move that signals a shift in the dynamics of Stockholm’s major arenas, ASM Global has assumed control over all Food & Beverage operations and deliveries previously handled by subcontractors. The establishment of an in-house team positions

ASM Global’s Stockholm Live to spearhead the leading and largest catering venture in Sweden and the Nordic region.

ASM Global’s approach revolves around placing people at the forefront of their mission – be it employees, guests, or members of the communities they operate in. With a vision to make a positive impact, the company aspires to be an attractive employer while taking proactive measures for constructive change.

“At Stockholm Live, our focus is always on people – whether they are our employees, guests enjoying events, or residents in the communities where we operate. We aim to make a difference by being an employer of choice and taking initiatives for positive

transformations,” shares Sammy Broqvist.

A key aspect of ASM Global’s commitment to societal impact is evident in their approach to employment at Stockholm Live. Thousands of young individuals around Stockholm are provided with the opportunity each year to embark on their professional journeys, gaining valuable experience that becomes the foundation of their careers. For many, employment at Stockholm Live marks a significant step into adulthood, the job market, or even integration into Swedish society. Sammy Broqvist emphasizes, “At Stockholm Live, we believe in genuine integration. A job with us not only provides employment but also offers education and language training in Swedish – essential contributions that we take pride in.”

As ASM Global’s Stockholm Live takes the reins of catering operations on a grand scale, the commitment to prioritizing people remains unwavering.

APAC

ASM GLOBAL (APAC) CALLING IN, NOT OUT

We all know that ‘inclusion’ is a key pillar of everything that we do at ASM Global. To that end, ASM Global (APAC) has partnered with Get Skilled Access (GSA) to support the delivery of our Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP). Founded by wheelchair tennis champion (20 grand slams), 2022 Australian of the Year and all-round top guy, Dylan Alcott OAM, Get Skilled Access works with organisations to enhance the experience for both team members and visitors. Dylan is REALLY passionate about our industry. When he isn’t working at GSA he runs his own foundation that delivers Ability Fest, a music festival aimed at normalising disability by encouraging everyone to come together in celebration of live music.

Our work in this space is exciting and we are working closely across all of our venues. We recently circulated our Disability Inclusion Action Plan template to all of our APAC venues for them to review, edit and use. Most exciting though was the recent delivery of two seminars – Disability Awareness and then Inclusive Recruitment. Both sessions were incredibly well attended and the feedback has been AMAZING! Being able to provide this important training has brought us together across the APAC region for a shared learning experience.

SOME OF THE KEY TAKE AWAYS FROM THE SESSIONS INCLUDED:

• Ask, don’t assume. We need to be aware of, and check, our unconscious bias.

• Lead by example, with empathy and curiosity. Ask questions, be genuinely curious, bring others along with you.

• Always be open to learning more.

• Working to enhance disability inclusion in our venues doesn’t just benefit those with a disability. It benefits everyone – and makes good business sense. For example, Australians with a disability have $40b annual disposable income, for every $1 invested in accessibility, $13 is generated as return revenue, and accessible businesses receive up to 25% more business (source GSA).

Having Get Skilled Access as one of our Inclusion partners has provided us with a sounding board, a safe place to ask tricky questions and a compass to help guide our journey. We look forward to sharing more news as we continue this important work.

L.E.A.D. – THE FUTURE OF LEADERSHIP

L.E.A.D. – The Future of Leadership was designed to develop our leaders of the future and involved both internal and external facilitators in subject areas such as Leadership, Design Thinking, Mental Health, Legal & Financial Compliance, Managing the Different Generations in the Workplace, Performance Planning and Personal Branding. The workshops were staged over for 12 months and have been extremely successful.

L.E.A.D. – The Future of Leadership was a great success and exceeded our expectations. To see our colleagues throughout APAC come together, connect, and share their experiences, was priceless. To top it off, four of the participants have recently gained promotions.

In January 2024, we invited all participants to a Graduation dinner, hosted by Harvey Lister, Chairman ASM Global (APAC) and other members of the Senior Leadership team. It was an amazing year and something we are all very proud of!

Our Global Human Resources Mission

Collectively, the goal of our Global Human Resources Team is to support ASM Global’s principles, values, vision, and mission. We are committed to reimagining Education, DEI, Corporate Social Value Programing, and Human Resources OperationsPropelled by passion, pace, and purpose we will strive to create a culture where every Team Member is seen, heard, and represented.
