A NOTE FROM
SHAUNA Welcome to the Final Edition of the Global Human Resources News Brief for 2023! As we reflect on the incredible journey, we have embarked on throughout 2023 our workforce has shown resilience, flexibility, energy, excitement, and focus as we’ve surpassed our goals. In this edition, we’ll wrap up the year with a strong sense of accomplishment, celebrating the milestones we’ve achieved together. From talent acquisition to team member engagement through learning and development, the excitement of implementing new systems to enhance and ease our daily workloads, defining our operational strategies, DEI efforts, and ending this year giving back to the communities that we serve through our Global Month of Giving program. Our collective efforts have made a profound impact. As you look forward to the launch of Global Month of Giving, remember good deeds catch on and hope glows. This initiative is one with global span, allowing all team members to come together and uplift our local communities through volunteerism and neighborhood engagement. Thinking back to when we created our 1st edition of ASM Global Voices, our initial intent was to share this news brief with venue leadership. However, I’d be remised if I did not share the popularity that our internal publication has received. With each edition, team members around the world have reported sharing ASM Global Voices with all venue team members. For that reason, I am excited to announce that starting in 2024 we will share ASM Global Voices with all team members worldwide. With 2024 in our sights, the future beckons, promising new opportunities, and fresh horizons. I look forward with anticipation to the possibilities that lie ahead. The new year will bring its own set of challenges (for us to conquer) and triumphs… We stand ready to meet them head-on. Stay inspired, stay connected, and let’s continue to drive positive and purposeful impacts in every venue, for every team member, every day. Thank You for being a part of our ASM Global Workforce - For your dedication, and commitment to shaping a better workplace for all team members.
Chief Human Resources Officer

THE UNITED STATES ASM Global Stars Scholarship Program
Funded by our ASM Global Acts Foundation, the ASM Global Stars Scholarship program gives students in under-resourced communities across the U.S. educational and career development opportunities, creating accessible pathways to pursue their education and career goals. The program has awarded 50 scholarships valued at $125,000 (up from 28 and $70,000 last year) to students in 39 cities (up from 14 in 2022). More than 97% of our awarded scholarships were received by ethnically diverse students. What’s really exciting and brings the journey of these student’s full circle, we are already engaging with over 30 of our award recipients who are interested and excited to participate in GROW for the 2024 year in our venues.
We have seen incredible success throughout 2023 with our GROW program! This initiative was born to support our quest to provide career experiences that are focused on cultivating industry knowledge aimed at ethnically diverse students. Our goal for the year was to provide 100 career experiences to university students, with your support we have hosted, educated, trained, and professionally developed over 120 university students! If your venue did not take part in GROW this year, we encourage your participation in 2024. This year we have built great relationships with Historically Black Colleges & Universities along with Hispanic Serving Institutions. We have learned that these universities want to work with us, their students are excited for the opportunities that we can provide – We need YOU involved, so that we can continue developing our next generation of leaders. As we get closer to the end of the year, we plan to highlight and celebrate all of the university students that have participated in GROW while positively impacting our business. Our intern recognition piece to come will be titled GROW Spotlight. Check out the example on the next page.

& YOU LinkedIn is one of the main resources utilized by job seekers today. As hiring managers, we all promote (if you’re not… you should be) our open positions in hopes that our posts are picked up by those looking for work. As we continue to highlight our open positions, a few things to note: REMINDER • All job requisitions that get posted to our career’s site also scrape over to LinkedIn and Indeed. • In Workday, it is important that you are posting to our external (Career’s site) for jobs to be visible to external candidates. • If you see that another ASM Global Team Member has posted a position – Repost that job on your page. This will help circulate the available opportunity throughout multiple networks. Easy steps on how you can share the job posting on LinkedIn: • On your profile, you should see several options at the top right below the header. • One of those options is to share that you are hiring:
•
If you are connected to ASM Global, meaning you showcase that you are working at the company:
•
You will be able to find all jobs actively listed on LinkedIn and choose the specific job you would like to be the hiring manager for.
Utilization of a few of these suggestions will help you better engage with interested candidates, showcase potential candidates, and further build your network! REMEMBER: WE SHOULD NEVER BE POSTING OR HIGHLIGHTING ANY POSITIONS THAT ARE NOT LINKED TO A JOB REQ WITHIN WORKDAY.
ASM GLOBAL VOICES - APRIL - 2023
LATIN AMERICA HR News at Antel Arena ASM GLOBAL’S CHILDREN ON A DAY AT WORK! Every year during the holiday season, we invite our team member’s and their families to enjoy a Disney On Ice performance that takes place in our arena. Everyone receives Disney merch and a few other surprises to commemorate the experience. Our hope is for the “junior members” of the families to get to know Antel Arena, our team, and become enchanted by what we do every day… that they see a future with us when they are older. QUARTERLY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION We take birthdays very seriously! During this past quarter, we celebrated the birthdays of our team members with lunch from Big Mac Combs, who sponsors McDonalds. There was also a delicious birthday cake. We love opportunities like this, where we can bring the full team together and share quality time in a relaxed and fun way to strengthen our bond.
FATHER’S DAY In July, we celebrate Father’s Day. We were excited this year to give all Dad’s picture frames. Many have added family pictures and placed them on their desks. This is becoming a tradition for us, as we did the same thing for Mother’s Day (which falls every 2nd Sunday in May in Latin America). CHILDREN’S DAY In Uruguay, soccer is a passion that is acquired at childhood, that is the reason why Antel Arena choses to support it. During the season this year, each team member’s child received a shirt from the Uruguayan soccer team as a gift to encourage “la celeste” in the matches that would be played with Chile and Ecuador for the first date of the South American qualifiers for the soccer world cup. Each of these actions that we carry out positively impacts the commitment that employees generate with their workplace, where they really feel cared for and positively surprised.
ASM GLOBAL VOICES - JULY - 2023
THE UNITED KINGDOM This year for the first time CGC Event Caterers have launched 2 recognition schemes. The aim being to reward and recognise star performers, differentiating us from the competition and aiding retention. CASUAL SCHEME All colleagues, be they agency workers or direct casuals can be nominated for a set monetary bonus award by a Manager on their shift. The Manager has to say what they have done that has been outstanding, using an electronic form that authorised by HR. As well as putting names up on a board where we are running an event over consecutive days, the individual will also receive a personalised thank you message, either using Humanforce or an email direct from their agency. This personal touch really seems to have reasonated and we’ve had some really positive feedback so far.
PERMANENT SCHEME In June, we also launched a scheme for permanent colleagues, with the same aim as for casuals but also to use it as a platform to re-enforce our newly created Values of Creative, Genuine and Curious. The form must be authorised by a Manager and the individual will then receive a hand written branded card and Amazon voucher, signed by the MD and FD. As we are a multisite business, we do not have one common noticeboard, therefore, on a fairly regular basis, photos of colleagues receiving their cards are issued via our All staff email address. This is also a way of building a wider community and helps people recognise what other people look like! Example photos attached. Currently an individual is limited to 2 nominations a year.

STOCKHOLM LIVE NOW OFFERS A TEAM MEMBER-RUN SPORTS & HEALTH CLUB At ASM’s Stockholm Live, the team is brewing something unique – an Employee-Run Sports and Health Club. It’s the kind of place where the employees take charge, and the company provides the financial backing to make it all come alive. This wellness approach not only fosters camaraderie but also trims down sick leave, all while creating a fun and engaging environment for team members to unite and prioritize their physical health. All employees enjoy the perk of one hour of weekly paid leave dedicated to physical training. The idea isn’t just about encouraging regular exercise; it’s about making sure the team can recharge both their bodies and minds. It’s a team effort, literally. While the company chips in financially, employees contribute to the club’s sustainability through an annual membership fee and volunteer work. This shared responsibility nurtures a sense of collective ownership and commitment. Perhaps the most striking aspect of the sports club is the noticeable impact it has on employees’ health. “There’s a definite link between the physical activities offered by the club and a reduction in sick leave due to issues like neck, back, and shoulder pain. These are some of the most common health complaints among desk-bound professionals”, says Linn Wermeling, HR Manager. One of the volunteer instructors, Evelina Carlsson, adds, “Regular exercise helps employees combat the negative effects of a sedentary work lifestyle, promoting better posture and overall health.”

“JOIN US IN MAKING Engaging in physical activities HEALTH, together nurtures camaraderie, encourages teamwork, and offers WELLNESS, opportunities for employees to get to know each other outside the usual AND TEAM office confines. This contributes to a more enjoyable work atmosphere. SPIRIT The sports club’s offerings are diverse, catering to a range of interests and fitness levels. The most popular A PART activities include a weekly cross-training or yoga class. Occasionally, the club also hosts dance classes, floorball, OF YOUR soccer, and even a bit of hockey for the enthusiasts. To sweeten the deal, every now and then, the club seize EVERYDAY the opportunity to use the stadiums where the pros play, giving our team members a taste of the excitement of LIFE!” But it’s not all about maintaining good health – the sports club plays a pivotal role in team building and ramping up employee engagement.
playing on professional fields and rinks. Who wouldn’t want to step into the shoes of Gretzky, Forsberg, or Beckham, even if it’s just for an hour? So, if you’re ready to lace up your sneakers, have some fun, and get fit, ASM’s Stockholm Live is the place to be.

International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), managed by ASM Global, is the first convention centre to be awarded a Bronze Tier status in Pride in Diversity’s Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI). ASM GLOBAL VOICES - JULY - 2023
ICC SYDNEY’S INCLUSIVE WORKPLACE FIRST TO BE RECOGNISED IN NATIONAL EQUALITY PROGRAM (CONTINUED)
ICC Sydney CEO and Group Director – Convention Centres, ASM Global (APAC), Geoff Donaghy said the accolade was welcome recognition of the team’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for its workforce, customers and visitors.
“From day one, we set out to ensure ICC Sydney was a place of total respect, courtesy and inclusion for every visitor through our doors, and it is gratifying to have this formally recognised through Pride in Diversity’s Australian Workplace Equality Index.” “As the first convention centre to achieve this benchmark, ICC Sydney demonstrates a strong commitment to continuing to meet national standards with regards to workplace diversity, equity and inclusion,” Mr Donaghy said. ICC Sydney Director of Human Resources, Luke Fleming said the submission into the Pride in Diversity program was a rigorous process for the team.
“The Same Same Collective’s work on the submission was comprehensive and included reviewing our Human Resources policies and diversity practices. The team engaged our active LGBTQIA+ employee network and was diligent in elevating all forms of LGBTQIA+ inclusion. This included increasing visibility and support for transgender and gender diverse team members, creating awareness and education opportunities focused both internally and externally to support our clients in delivering events,” Mr Fleming said. The Pride in Diversity Australian Workplace Equality Index stands as the definitive national benchmark on LGBTQIA+ workplace inclusion and comprises the only large, national employee survey designed to gauge the overall impact of inclusive initiatives on organisational culture as well as identifying and non-identifying employees.
LEAD – THE FUTURE OF LEADERSHIP
ASM Global (APAC) recently wrapped up their “Design Thinking” workshop which forms part of LEAD – The Future of Leadership program. With participants coming from Australia, New Zealand, Kuala Lumpur, Bahrain and Dubai – these team members took the opportunity to unveil their ideas. With the theme and room designed to replicate the TV series “Shark Tank”, each group presented their ideas to our ASM Global (APAC) Chairman, Harvey Lister, CFO, Mark Pitman and COO, Peter Loxton. Each group worked tirelessly together and unleashed their entrepreneurial side, launching their innovation grenades towards our sharks. Such was the calibre of their presentations, that our sharks had no choice but to succumb, giving a nod of approval to each idea presented – they were that good. Watch this space. With only a few months left before LEAD2023 finishes, we’re already getting ready to roll our expressions of interest for LEAD2024. LEAD isn’t just an internal training program, it’s a testament to the transformational power of what happens when we share our knowledge and experience. “Imagine what we can do together”? ASM Global (APAC) is just getting started, as together we rewrite the Leadership playbook to incorporate the future and make amazing the new norm.

CANADA MERIDIAN CENTRE AND CANADA GAMES PARK Ian Zancola, Director of Operations for Canada Games Park and Meridian Centre took to the ice with several new trainees to teach them the basics of ice maintenance. Making the perfect sheet of ice takes time and finesse. The trainees learned about ice maintenance best practices, refrigeration basics, and of course ice resurfacer training and operation, otherwise known as Zamboni 101. Ian arranged to have Zamboni come in and give our staff hands on training. This included tips, tricks and trade secrets. It’s Canada, we take our ice very seriously here. At Meridian Centre we are often touted as having some of the best ice in the Ontario Hockey League and we want to ensure we keep that quality for the new generation of ice crew. Our new crew is
fortunate to have Ian as a mentor as one of the best in the business. Last year Ian was invited to teach the ice/conversions portion of the ASM LEAD ice rink operations school in Knoxville and has been making perfect sheets of ice for over 16 years. In his off time Ian can often be found creating outdoor ice rinks for his local community. We are excited to get our new hockey season underway with our professionally trained staff!
