Capital Outrigger
Capital Outrigger was established as a program of the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in 2016. Since that time, the program has evolved as a club that is an active member of the Northern California Outrigger Canoe Association (NCOCA). The club’s nick name, ‘Ohana Kai, translates as “Family of the Sea” and is reflective of its purpose: in a supportive climate like a family, to develop an understanding and appreciation of the culture and values of Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling through education, recreation and competition. Anyone is welcome, regardless of age, gender or paddling experience. The program offers various options by which newcomers may become involved in this engaging activity. The spirit of Aloha prevails.
