Let's Go to Camp!

Sailing Clinics are offered to graduates of our Quest or Keelboat Basic Sailing Courses. These Clinics are for those who want to be able to utilize additional types of sailboats in our fleet without repeating a full Basic Sailing class, or those wishing to brush up on rigging and derigging these types of boats. Attendees are expected to already have solid sailing skills. While limited sailing instruction is included, these Clinics are focused on teaching you how to safely rig and derig the boat, launching and docking skills, and how to safely recover from a capsize (with the exception of the keelboats).

ZEST & QUEST CLINICS

See detailed descriptions of these boats under the Basic Sailing section.

LASER CLINIC Physicality: Very High

The Laser sailboat, arguably the most popular sailboat, is our most challenging as well as our most exhilarating sailboat. Although it can accommodate 1 adult and 1 child, it is intended to be sailed solo. It is a 13’ fiberglass hull with a large mainsail. It requires substantial movement of the sailor to maintain balance and it will capsize quite easily. Rigging/derigging is also more difficult than other boats in our fleet.

SCHEDULING: LASER, QUEST & ZEST CLINICS

These clinics will be scheduled based on demand: when you register for one of these clinics your name will be added to a waiting list and, when a minimum of three people have registered, we will create a Clinic and contact you. Each Clinic will be 3 hours of instruction on the dock.

CATALINA CLINIC – SAILING

7

Physicality: Moderate

In 2023 we are pleased to introduce a more advanced sailing experience! The Catalina 22 Sport Keelboat is our newest, largest sailboat with several features that set it apart

This clinic is for those who have already been certified on either the Quest or the Holder 20 and wish to enhance their sailing skill and knowledge. Course content will include rigging, de-rigging, an emphasis on safe and proper methods for approaching and leaving the dock, more in-depth coverage of sail trim techniques and use of the roller furling jib for reefing. NOTE: While only one person needs to be certified to rent the Catalina, at least one other person with Quest or Keelboat certification will also be required. We strongly recommend you bring a sailing partner! Class size is limited to 3-5 students; a higher level of on-the-water skill is required to successfully complete this course. No capsize recovery required as this boat is extremely unlikely to capsize.
