Crowle & Ealand Heritage Society are a group of local history enthusiasts who meet on the second thursday of every month for meetings on different aspects of local history. Recent talks have included talks on Temple Bellwood and the history of street names in Crowle. Our next meetings are as follows: Thursday 11 March: On the trail of the Old River Don, by the author of "Thorne Mere and the Old River Don" Martin Taylor. Thursday 8 April: A complete history of the drainage of the Isle of Axholme by Angus Townley. As well as meetings our group also arranges outings during the summer. We already have canal tours and a guided walk around Crowle Moors planned for this year. Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings which are held at St Norbert's Church Hall, Fieldside, Crowle on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Admission is ý1 which includes tea and coffee. For further information please contact either Betsy Lutz on 01724 711556 or Angus Townley on 01724 711191. Our website address is heritagesociety@crowle.org.
