Visit the Unique City Jacmel
Founded in 1698, the southern port city of Jacmel, about 25 miles southwest of Port au Prince, is a time capsule from the turn of the 20th century, with impressive mansions and urban architecture little altered in the past 100 plus years. Many of these buildings have been turned into galleries and workshops by the city’s large population of artists and craftspeople. The Hotel Florita is also little changed since its construc tion in 1888, yet is the top‑rated hotel in all of Haiti and just a block from the beach.
The city’s annual Carnival in January and February attracts an interna tional crowd, and as one of the safest places in Haiti, Jacmel has been at the forefront of the country’s tourism revival. The legendary Bassin Bleu—blue pools connected by waterfalls—is just about 7 miles outside town and a popular destination for a day trip.
Sans Souci Palace
Located in Milot (near the city of Cap‑Haïtien), Sans Souci was the most elaborate of the many homes and palaces built by Haiti’s first king, Henri Christophe. Seen as a symbol of black power, the opulent palace completed in 1813 was inspired by European designs and played host to elaborate balls attended by foreign dignitaries. However, it was also the place where King Henri I killed himself after suffering a stroke in 1820, and where his son and heir was murdered during a coup that same year. The palace was heavi ly damaged in an earthquake in 1842, but the ruins hint at the past glory of a palace favorably compared to Versailles in its heyday.
Historic Citadelle Laferrière
Haiti’s rich history includes the most successful slave revolt in the New World, which led directly to the establishment of the independent nation of Haiti in 1804. Jean-Jacques Dessalines, the leader of the revolt, was named emperor of the new nation and ordered the construction of a vast fort atop the Pic Laferrière, near the town of Milot in northern Haiti. The sturdy construction survives largely intact and, along with the nearby Sans Souci Palace, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can tour the defensive works and see hundreds of cannons and cannonballs, still seemingly ready for action against an attempt by the French to retake the island. Tours can be arranged out of Milot or with a local guide.
National Museum of Haiti
In Port au Prince, visit the National Museum of Haiti which educates the public on the country from the times of indigenous peoples up until the 1940s. Also of interest is the Musée du Panthéon National Haitien—a tribute to Haiti’s national heroes—and the National Muse‑ um of Art, featuring pre Columbian art from around Haiti.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Angels for Humanity’s highly anticipated 7th Edition of Catwalk for Charity, where, as our motto proudly states, “fashion meets philanthropy.” Our organization’s main goal is to contribute to the betterment of the lives of our fellow human beings. In fact, philanthropy derives from the Greek word “philanthropos,” which means “useful to humanity or loving mankind”. The simplicity of this definition allows for a multitude of ways we can show our fellow human beings that we love them. Thus, Love is at the cornerstone of our philanthropy, as well as all the work we do.
At Angels for Humanity, we thrive to improve the lives of underprivileged children locally, in Haiti, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic, through education, health, personal development and guidance initiatives. Who are Angels? Angels are spiritual beings acting as messengers of God. Angels are conventionally represented in human form with wings, which will be prominently displayed during this event. In practical terms, an angel is a person who regularly expresses love and compassion. In that way, we can all be angels, especially for those most in need.
At Angels for Humanity, we adore the children we serve, and we know that only by offering them more opportunities can we guarantee them a better future. Your presence and contributions represent the wind underneath our wings. Because of your attendance, your participation, your contributions, and your unwavering support, we continue to fly high and thrive, despite current difficulties and challenging times in our world.
For the past fifteen years, Angels for Humanity (AFH) has established itself as a well‑respected philanthropic entity and 501c3 charitable organization. We have seen many changed lives, keeping us acutely aware of how impactful our involvement has been to the wellbeing of children. There are times when our organization offers the only hope left for some children who are living in a state of despair and desperation. All this work would not have been impossible without our dedicated lead‑ ership, members, and volunteers who work tirelessly and relentlessly. On behalf of AFH and its supporters and sponsors I want to personally thank all the honorees for their outstanding contribution to our organization. They represent a sample of many more well deserving exemplary members we have yet to honor.
We also offer a special thank you to our sponsors and supporters, without whose generosity, we would not have been able to execute so many ambitious and inspiring missions.
To support the goal of AFH’s effort to build a new elementary school in Haiti, we will be holding today our annual Fash ion Show dubbed “Catwalk for Charity.” We recognize it is not merely a sophisticated social event or a nice party. It is an event carefully put together with love for a noble humanitarian cause. Our goal is to raise $150,000.00, which will provide AFH the necessary funding to start phase one construction of a school in a rural community in Haiti. 100% of the proceeds will be used for the school’s construction. I am humbled to have been recently (July 2020) voted president of this prestigious organization, which adds an eclectic view and multicultural flavor to Florida children philanthropy, one that the entire phil‑ anthropic community should be proud of. Please feel free to visit AFH’s website at www.angelsforhumanity.org for more info.
Enjoy the event and have a good time.
Hope to see all of you for our eighth edition of Catwalk for Charity.

Nadine Pierre
It was during our Medical Mission trip to the Dominican Re‑ public this year that we had the pleasure of meeting Nadine Pierre. She, along with 600 other children, received free med ical screenings, dental cleanings, preventative, and emergency dental care. During her visit to our make shift clinic that was set up in the cafeteria of the school, she came in complaining of stomach pains. We noticed her eyes and hands were yellow and learned from her aunt that she suffered from yellow fever. She also hadn’t eaten in over 24 hours. When we questioned the aunt about it, she said she had several children and not enough food to feed them all.
We gave the aunt money to take the girl to the medical doctor and to buy food for the home. We also requested that she buy her a pair of new shoes because we noticed she was wearing a pair of flip flops that were folded together with a safety pin.
These children we helped live in an area of the Dominican Repub‑ lic called the Batey where a lot of Haitian immigrants that work in the sugar cane fields were placed. The families primarily live in shacks make of metal sheeting and dirt floors. Nadine lives in a one room house in these deplorable conditions with five other family members.
When we stopped by her home to visit her, she came out running and immediately hugged our founder, Judith Joseph. She shared with her that she had not stopped smiling because she felt so pret‑ ty after having her teeth cleaned the day before and she was so excited to have her very own toothbrush and toothpaste that we gave her.
Although Angels for Humanity was there to do a medical mission trip, we never imagined the impact we had on these children’s lives. Children are heavily influenced by what they see in their commu nity. Our mere presence served as role models for them where for the first time they found hope and could see a brighter future for themselves. Thanks to the many individuals and corporate dona‑ tions we received throughout the year, we were able to create real impact in the lives of these neglected children. With your help we can continue our mission many years into the future.
Special thanks to Victoria Duke Beauty Academy for supporting Angels for Humanity for many years and providing the hair and makeup for the models at the 2021 Catwalk for Charity event.

ANGELS FOR HUMANITY HERO AWARD 2021
Patrick Joseph
Patrick Joseph the man, the husband, the father, and the Humanitarian- You are beyond deserving of this award, you helped me carry this charity for 15 years and counting because you always want to please and support everything I do and never say no – You’re my HERO
I could say thank you a million times over and it still would not be enough to show you how appreciative I am of you. No letter could encompass the love I have for you, and no words could describe the way I feel when I’m with you. Words in this magazine are simply just words, but my hope is that these words give you some idea as to the hold you have on mine and your children’s heart.
First off, thank you for simplicity. My mind is constantly cluttered, and my thoughts move like the speed of light. I talk fast, I think fast, and sometimes I move through life a little too fast. You help me slow down. With you, all the stress and all the migraines are transparent. I am numb to them now. Speaking of migraines, thank you for your care. Thanks for always asking me if I need anything when I’m not feel ing well, and thanks for helping me through the worst of the worst. Whenever I’m feeling down, you make it your mission to cheer me up, and yes, you usually succeed. I think everyone should have someone like that in their life because your sup‑ port is simply a light in the darkness of my universe.
Thank you for all the laughs. You are truly the funniest per‑ son I know. Never once have I faked a laugh in front of you because your humor is more than just one thing; sometimes it’s awkward, sometimes your jokes are just plain awful, but they are always genuine and always laughable. I have this the ory; you always say you love when I laugh, and when I smile, so I think you use your humor as a tool... but hey, I’m not complaining.
I’m looking forward to our future together. Considering my mind moves so fast, I imagine it would be difficult to keep up with me sometimes. Let’s just say hypothetical situations
are more apparent in my life than they should be, but when I talk about the future, you do not shut me down or seem displeased with it. Instead, you go along with it. I cannot wait for my future because I know it will have you in it.
And lastly, thank you for being you. Because of you, I have learned to see the good in people, and more importantly, to see the best within myself. I used the word ‘genuine’ to de‑ scribe your humor, however I can also use it to describe you. I have never met anyone as kind, sociable, and honest as you. With you, happiness is simple, and it doesn’t seem so difficult to achieve. I love who you are, and I know I am so lucky to have you in my life. So, thank you... for everything.
I love you in a place where there’s no space or time. My love is everlasting, ever growing, and ever present. My love for you knows no bounds. I was drawn to you and your soul since I was a teenager in a way I can’t explain. It was like I just knew, here he is. This is it. He is it. You’ll never know how much you mean to me. I can only tell you that my soul will love you forever.
Your loving wife, Judith
Nardos Imam
GUEST FASHION DESIGNER
“When I sleep, I’m dreaming of dresses,” reveals Nar dos Imam, whose passion for design began early, when she was a young girl growing up in Eritrea. Her moth‑ er was a talented seamstress, who loved making color‑ ful dresses for her children that would often turn heads in the neighborhood. As a child, Nardos was struck by her mother’s love of clothes and would spend hours sit‑ ting next to her sewing machine, fascinated by patterns and stitching, and playing with fabrics and scissors.
But Nardos wasn’t fully exposed to fashion until she went off to college in the United States. At first, she thought she would study nursing and never imag‑ ined she could have a career designing clothes. Even‑ tually, her love for fashion prevailed and she end‑ ed up switching paths. Nardos went on to study costume design at El Centro College in Dallas, Tex‑ as, where she became enamored with her classes on theatrical costume design and the history of fashion.
After graduation, she started working at the luxe fabric store, Richard Brooks. Later, she became the in‑house designer at Stanley Korshak, where she built a loyal fol‑ lowing of clients, who kept returning for her impecca‑ ble fit, eye for color, and unique architectural designs.
In 2009, Nardos took the plunge and finally launched her own fashion line, Nardos Design, which specializ es in custom couture. Since then, Nardos Design has expanded into evening wear, custom couture bridal, and a ready‑to‑wear line, which is available in her salon in Dallas, Texas with growing availability in cities across the United States. Today, women from all over the world come to Nardos’ atelier for her special couture experi‑
ence. “My favorite part is when I put them in their first fit,” she says. “I love to see the reaction in their faces when they finally see their dream dress coming to life.”
Nardos credits God and the beauty in each of her clients as her sources of inspiration. She loves dressing all wom‑ en from mothers and brides to debutants and every oc casion in between. She dreams of one day mentoring young girls in Eritrea on all things fashion. Decades lat er, her mother is now the one who spends hours sitting in Nardos’ atelier.

Trang Phung
GUEST FASHION DESIGNER
Trang Phung was born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam during the height of the Vietnam War. After the fall of Saigon, South Vietnam was under major economic and political distress. In desperation, Trang’s mother raised enough money to arrange for one person to escape on a small fishing boat, and Trang was chosen with the mission to rescue the family to the Free World. At age seventeen, she was alone on her journey as a part of the “Boat People Exodus”. After spending a year in a refugee camp, she was immigrated to the United States and eventually migrated her family to reunite with her, after many years of hard work.
Despite many life challenges, Trang always managed to succeed in her endeavors. In 2010, amidst the global economic crisis, Trang fearlessly made a transition from her position as Regional Vice President of Nationwide, a Fortune 500 Com‑ pany, to pursue her desires ‑ founding Trang Phung (aka Sen Couture), an American‑made clothing line.
that were quickly well received by trendsetters all over the world. They were often seen on high profile celebrities and the press.
Giving back to the community is important to Trang. She has consistently supported many local charities, es‑ pecially the cause that is dedicated to providing medical care to poor children around the world.
As Trang’s experiences and entrepreneurial ambitions con‑ tinue, she hopes to advance her company and her philan‑ thropic efforts into the future.

Judith Joseph
ANGELS FOR HUMANITY FOUNDER & COO
It is known that Angels for Humanity is for me a “Labor of Love”. Because the children of Haiti are so dear to my heart, I continue to make endless sacrifices in order to make a difference in their lives. I sincerely believe that education is the only solution to eradicate ex‑ treme poverty and many can play a role. One does not need to deplete their finances to help and make an impact. The important thing is to remain focused and take action regardless of challenges. If we think about it, every edu‑ cated person is not necessarily rich, but almost every educated person has a job and therefore a way out of poverty. So education is a fun damental solution to poverty. The problems we now face, violent conflicts, destruction of nature, poverty, hunger and so on, are hu‑ man‑created problems which can be resolved through human effort, understanding and the development of a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood. We need to cultivate a universal responsibility for one another and the planet we share. “Witnessing the lack of education in remote parts of Haiti can make you feel sad and powerless, until you realize how little it would take to change these children’s lives fundamentally in sustainable ways.”
Why is Education So Important? Education is a basic human right and a significant factor in the development of children, communities, and countries. Opening classroom doors to all children, especially girls, will help break the intergenerational chains of poverty be‑ cause education is intrinsically linked to all development goals such as supporting gender empowerment, improving child health and maternal health, reducing hunger, fighting the spread of diseases, spurring economic growth, and building peace.
On this International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, let us recognize that extreme pov erty and uneducated children anywhere are threats to human security everywhere. Let us recall that poverty and lack of education are human rights denials. For the first time in his‑ tory, in this age of unprecedented wealth and technical progress, we have the power to se‑ curity everywhere. Let us recall that poverty and lack of education are human rights deni‑ als. For the first time in history, in this age of unprecedented wealth and technical progress, we have the power to save humanity from this shameful scourge.
Let us summon the will to do it.

Catwalk for Charity 2019 was held at the Marriot Marquis Miami with featured designers PINKO and Gustavo Cadille. An eclectic group of guests enjoyed the champagne brunch and music by J Perry. Our special guest was Yves Danie, a courageous young girl battling leukemia who flew in from Haiti and one of the many children we support. This successful event made it possible for children in our community and at Joe DiMaggio’s hospital to have a joyous holiday season by receiving wrapped toys during the holidays. Additional funds were also allocated to support the only cancer hospital in Haiti.

AUGUST 21, 2021 ANGELS FOR HUMANITY DAY
MEDICAL MISSION
Angels for Humanity has done three medical mission trips to Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Our first trip was a free eyeglasses program in 2017. By re storing sight, we were able to transform lives for some 500 underprivileged children in Haiti. Our first dental mission was led by our Chairman and CFO, Dr. Julio Hernandez. By providing emergency and preventative dental care to chil‑ dren ages 4‑14, we were able to improve the quality of lives of those suffering from dental disease. Over 400 under‑served and vulnerable children benefited from this mission.
Despite COVID restrictions around the world, we were able to complete another successful medical mission trip in 2021 in the Dominican Republic. We served children in the Batey which is home to children of mostly Haitian migrant workers working in the sugarcane fields. These children live far below the poverty level in shacks made of aluminum siding and wood. This was our largest mission ever, where 600 children received both medical and dental screenings and preventative and emergency dental care. 32 medical and non‑medical volunteers joined our mission to provide healthcare and support to these children who are largely neglected by their society. Our presence alone pro‑ vided hope that they too can one day aspire to be doctors and nurses and come full circle to help others in need.

CRISIS INTERVENTION
Angels for Humanity has been able to step in during times of crisis to provide essential supplies to those in need.
In 2o16, AFH supplied food, clothing and toys to 4ooo children on the border of Haiti and the Do minican Republic. Most recently, during the pan demic, when supplies were limited, we managed to secure reusable masks to distribute to thousands of children in Haiti. We also donated much need ed PPE to the only children’s cancer hospital in Haiti, Hospital Nos Petit Freres Et Soeurs.
After Hurricane Dorian that displaced so many Haitians from their homes, a group of members flew to the Bahamas where many families were relocated in tent cities to distribute gifts to the children before the holidays. Working with a local church we were able to send supplies to help those in need.
The most recent disaster to strike Haiti was the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the SW region of the country in August 2021. Many lives were lost, and homes destroyed close to the epicenter of the quake. In re‑ sponse to this devastation, AFH partnered with the Association for Haitian Physi‑ cians (AMHE) and presented them with a 10K check, which was matched by our president, Dr. Angelo Gousse, who also serves as president of the AMHE. These funds will be used to create a wound care and rehabilitation center at the General Hospital in Jeremie. In addition, AFH is partnering with the Global Empower‑ ment Mission, led by this year’s honoree, Michael Capponi, to ship humanitarian aid in the aftermath of the quake.
Our partnership will also help in rebuilding a school in the town of Jeremie where over 20 schools were de‑ stroyed keeping children from receiving a much‑needed education.
A special thank you to goes to our Distinguished Hu‑ manitarian Award winner, Garcelle Beauvais, for using her platform to bring attention to her home country of Haiti and partnering with Angels for Humanity to help those less fortunate. She recently shared her sentiments on The View, and with People magazine saying, “There are ways to help, and, when it comes to those less for‑ tunate, it’s always the right time. That’s compassion. That’s humanity.”

THE JOY OF GIVING
Breakfast with Santa
was founded in 2007 by a group of professionals from diverse backgrounds who shared the same passion-serving children and enhancing their lives. The organization has grown to reflect the cultural diversity that is often associated with South Florida. Volunteers share a collective objective to share the value of education and the joyful spirit of Christmas with underprivileged children from Miami’s “Little Haiti” district, and the surrounding areas to those in Haiti.
Each year, “Breakfast with Santa” hosts thousands of children ranging from five through twelve years old with a Christmas celebration in Haiti at Saint Louis de Gonzagues Campus in Haiti. It’s the Joy of Giving!

Part of the funds raised from Catwalk for Charity every year go to buy thousands of toys that are distributed over the holiday season. For a few months, volunteers get together in Miami after work and on the weekends to wrap each of these toys before they get shipped to Haiti or distributed here locally.

Since 2o14 we have worked with the Haitian Foundation Anticancer Infantile (FHACI), to help children at , the only cancer hospital in Haiti. The hospital has hundreds of children waiting for help each year, but only 17 beds available for treatment. Parents earning less than $4.oo a day cannot afford treatment for their kids, leaving the hospital to cover 1oo% of the expenses; the current budget for the oncology unit is over $7oo,ooo per year.
NosHospital Petit Freres Et Soeurs
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is lending its support by covering 2o% of the cost, as well as FHACI, donating 5%. Nonetheless, with 75% of the budget left unaccounted for, the hospital struggles to provide life-saving treatments to other children in need. Through our foundation, we hope to raise enough funds to ease the hospital’s burden.

HospitalGeneralHaiti
Angels for Humanity supports two hospitals in Haiti both financially and with gifts-in-kind. Whenever in Haiti, volunteers visit the sick children in the hospital to deliver toys to them during the holiday season.

In 2o19, AFH went to Joe DiMaggio Hospital in Hollywood, FL with Santa Claus and Mrs. Santa to deliver toys to children during the holidays. There is no greater joy than the joy of giving and to see the smiles on these children’s faces.

In 2019, with political strife affecting Haiti, Angels for Humanity decided to offer their annual Breakfast with Santa event to the children in our community. Over 3oo kids from Little Haiti, Overtown, and the surrounding communities enjoyed face painting, games, and a Sunday brunch.

FUTURE PROJECTS
SCHOOL PROJECT
In Haiti, education is a privilege, not a right.
Education is considered one of the best ways for Haitians to escape poverty, but unfortunately, it is beyond the reach of most. Literacy rates in Haiti remain around 50%, which is significantly lower than the 90% literacy rate for Latin American and Caribbean countries (Library of Congress, 2006). The 2010 and 2021 earthquakes devastated a large percentage of the small number of primary and secondary schools in Haiti. A lack of resources and poor infrastruc ture have placed Haiti in a critical situation, and there is a desperate need for school facilities and education. An‑ gels for Humanity intends to build a school, the Angels for Humanity Academy, in the rural community of Thoma‑ zeau. The children in this community live in extreme pov‑ erty and are in dire need of a school.
One of the major obstacles to children attending school in Haiti, particularly in the rural areas, is the lack of physical access to school facilities. We know of some children who walk for hours one way to get to school each morning after performing their domestic chores at home. This long fa tiguing walk, oftentimes before dawn, drains the students’ ability to stay focused and alert while at school. Transpor‑ tation will therefore be provided as part of this project.
Haiti is home to 11 million people, with children making up 54% of the population. Sadly, 64.3% of boys and 57.3% of girls are unable to read or write. Our organization be‑ lieves that quality education is the fundamental right of every child, and we are committed to changing these dis‑ heartening numbers. Indeed, Haiti can feel like a place of overwhelming need.
Angels for Humanity secured a 3.5‑acre parcel in the im‑ poverished rural community of Thomazeau, 4 miles north‑ east of Port au Prince, Haiti. The project will consist of 6 classrooms for kindergarten/elementary classes, as well as administrative offices, a library, and computer lab. There will also be a cafeteria with a full kitchen, auditorium, composting latrines, housing for 25 guests, play and sports areas, and an organic garden. The academy will be designed to serve as a model for other educational facilities in rural Haiti. Students will learn many skills and values: Spiritual and Moral Growth; Civic Responsibility and Empower‑ ment; Environmental Stewardship; Artistic Creativity and Individual Expression; Fluency in Haitian Creole, French, and English; and Technological fluency especially with computers. The school will be tuition free, and Angels for Humanity will provide the children with 2 meals a day, uniforms, and backpacks with supplies each school year.
With your support, we can make this dream a reality to fulfill our mission and our vision to inspire, empower, and support impoverished children in Haiti and around the world by providing them access to quality education and healthcare; and, that every child is given the tools and op portunity to thrive and become productive members of their communities.
Juan Pablo Collections, Singer/Songwriter turned Feather Designer is grazing the world with his feather creations. Think of the whimsical world of wonderland or adventure, where garments are adorned by beads, crystals, silks and the most vivid colors of feathers that could even impress mother-nature her self. With a solid dedication to beautify a womans body, Juan Pablo’s designs have adorned celebrity galas, A-listers on the red carpet, royal ceremonies,Miss Pageants and International catwalks. After a wave of exposure from the biggest carnivals in the Caribbean and numerous international publications including celebrity endorsements, the Miami designers’ store, Boa Novelty Feather in Wynwood will serve as a homebase atelier for the national wholesale operation as well as showroom. Juan Pablo notes that Wynwood, Miami is the perfect location for the Art of Feather.
