ANGELS FOR HUMANITY DISTINGUISHED HUMANITARIANS AWARD 2023

Tatiana & Camila Guiribitey Tatiana Guiribitey, widely recognized as “la mami-

lover” on her social media platforms, was born on April 22 in Havana, Cuba. Her journey from Havana to becoming a revered figure in the United States is a testament to her determination and commitment to making a positive impact.

Tatiana’s academic journey led her to Baku, Azerbaijan, where she pursued a degree in Computer Science. With her freshly minted degree in computer engineering, she emigrated to the United States, driven by a deep desire for freedom for herself and her family. She is married to Doctor Pedro Guiribitey, and together, they embarked on a journey to build a meaningful legacy that extended beyond their own lives.

Since 2013, Tatiana and her daughter Camila Guiribitey initiated a remarkable mission to provide school supplies and food to the bateyes and rural areas of the Dominican Republic. This philanthropic endeavor has continued throughout the years, benefiting countless schools and churches in the Dominican Republic.

In 2021, Tatiana’s birthday became a celebration of generosity as she collected over 1,000 toys for children in the Dominican Republic, spreading joy and smiles in the process. In August 2023, her commitment to community welfare led her to donate funds and distribute school supplies across four cities in Miami - Hialeah, Kendal, West Miami, and Doral.

Tatiana also dedicates a significant portion of her time to helping disabled individuals acquire essential resources like wheelchairs and supports organizations such as the Ausome Foundation, focusing on children with autism, and more recently, Angel for humanities. Her unwavering passion for helping others, combined with her deep commitment to the community, has earned her a special place in the hearts of many, making Tatiana Guiribitey a true inspiration and a beacon of hope for those in need.

Camila Guiribitey, a dynamic Cuban American YouTuber

and influencer, commands a devoted audience of 2.2 million on her channel, “El Mundo de Camila.” Through vibrant content, she immerses viewers in her travels and opulent lifestyle, radiating charisma and a zest for life. Formerly a dentist, she seamlessly weaves her Cuban and American roots into her identity, having moved from Havana to Miami as a child. In 2016, she wedded Juan Carlos in the enchanting Altos de Chavon, Dominican Republic.

Beyond her digital fame, Camila’s philanthropic spirit shines through. From 2015-2016, she led dental missions in the Dominican Republic with the Smiles for Life Foundation. In subsequent years, her outreach expanded, delivering toys to children and distributing school supplies in Central Cacata, culminating in over 300 packages in 2023. In 2021, she initiated the impactful Lotus Flower Food Drive to combat hunger in her hometown of Miami.

Transitioning into media, Camila co-created the Aly and Mila Humanitarian Podcast with Aly from 2020 to 2021, shedding light on critical humanitarian issues. From 2022-2023, she collaborated with the American Red Cross, contributing to various relief initiatives. Her involvement with the Vizcaya Garden Conservation and attendance at the Vizcaya Gala in 2022 underscore her commitment to cultural preservation.

Not confined to YouTube, Camila commands an Instagram following of over 800,000. Here, she offers glimpses of her philanthropic journey alongside personal stories, providing a comprehensive view of her life’s chapters. Camila Guiribitey stands as a testament to the potent fusion of influence and a generous heart. Her ongoing efforts promise to illuminate countless faces, painting a brighter future through acts of kindness, one at a time.

Her journey commenced at the University of Nebraska, where she cultivated a profound passion for creativity and aesthetics. Here, she honed her design skills, birthing a visionary eye that would later captivate the world.

Post-graduation, Regina embarked on a career that witnessed her metamorphose spaces into functional marvels of captivating beauty. Her designs seamlessly melded style and utility, reflecting the unique essence of each client. From homes to communal spaces, Regina’s touch bestowed joy, comfort, and inspiration upon countless individuals and communities across the Midwest.

Yet, Regina’s influence transcends the design realm. With an acute understanding of the significance of giving back, she committed her time and resources to various philanthropic endeavors. From Habitat for Humanity in Las Vegas to WIN (Women in Need) in New York, her benevolence knew no bounds. Following her relocation to Florida, Regina embraced Angels for Humanity, an organization she holds dear. Alongside her husband, they fervently strive to provide support and resources to the underprivileged and struggling families, extending a beacon of hope and a helping hand.

Terri Seymour Terri Seymour joined “Extra” in 2004 as a freelance reporter and was then quickly promoted to full-time. position. Terri is a staple in entertainment reporting and continues to cover television, fashion-and-beauty segments, movie premieres, junkets, and on-set visits, and is a regular red-carpet favorite.

Before Terri joined “Extra,” she was a successful model and television personality in the United Kingdom. She grew up in Buckinghamshire, England, where she began modeling at age 12. As a model, Terri traveled to fashion capitals Paris, Milan, and New York. She was featured in countless fashion magazines including Elle, Marie Claire, Vogue (English), and GQ (English). In addition to magazine spreads, Terri was part of one of Benetton’s highly successful and influential advertising campaigns and appeared in numerous runway shows for designers including Vivienne Westwood, Donna Karan, and Armani.

At the beginning of Terri’s television career, she appeared on the UK television series “The Clothes Show.” She also appeared on the English version of “The Wheel of Fortune” for three seasons, then co-hosted ITV 2’s The Xtra Factor. She has appeared on the UK’s “GMTV” and the morning show “Lorraine.” One of her first American television appearances was as an entertainment reporter on FOX 11’s “Good Day L.A.” Terri has appeared in the films “Material Girl” with Hilary Duff, “24 Hour Party People,” “The Leading Man” with Jon Bon Jovi, and HBO’s “In the Beginning.” She served as a judge on “The Tyra Banks Show’s” Male Model Search and has been featured on E! Louis Aguirre Louis Aguirre, a distinguished Emmy-award winning journalist, rejoined the Local 10 family in September 2017, bringing his expertise to South Florida. As a co-anchor for weekday newscasts at 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m., he also leads the 10 p.m. Local 10 newscast on WSFL. Passionate about environmental advocacy, Aguirre assumed the role of WPLG Local 10’s Environmental Advocate on Earth Day 2021. He spearheads the station-wide campaign “Don’t Trash Our Treasure,” focusing on South Florida’s environmental challenges and solutions.

This initiative has earned him four Emmy awards for environmental reporting, among other accolades including an Esserman-Knight Foundation Journalism award.

With a career spanning over three decades, Aguirre began at Telemundo in 1989 as a Spanish-language reporter. He later transitioned to Local 10, where he reported and anchored weekend segments. During this time, he made history by being one of the few American journalists permitted to cover the 30th anniversary of the Cuban missile crisis in Cuba.

Following his stint at Local 10, Aguirre spent 14 years at WSVN in Miami before heading to Los Angeles in 2014 to anchor the nationally syndicated program “The Insider.” His illustrious career also includes roles with “Extra,” “A Current Affair,” and as co-host of “Fox and Friends.”

Beyond journalism, Aguirre has made notable guest appearances in popular shows like “Sex and the City,” “JAG,” “Burn Notice,” “Guiding Light,” and “All My Children.” A native of Miami, he holds degrees from the University of Miami and the Universite de Paris at La Sorbonne. In his leisure time, Aguirre finds solace at the beach, indulging in the beauty of his hometown.

Angels for Humanity unveils ‘Build the Future’, a visionary initiative dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through education. In Haiti, where children constitute over half of the 11 million population, education is often a privilege. The Angels for Humanity Academy, however, offers a beacon of hope, providing more than 400 children with quality education at no cost.

Situated in an underserved rural community, this transformative project encompasses nine classrooms spanning kindergarten through 9th grade, administrative offices, a library, music room, and a state-of-the-art computer lab. Complementing this academic core, the academy will feature a fully equipped cafeteria, guest housing for 25, expansive play areas, and a thriving organic garden.

Beyond academics, the Angels for Humanity Academy sets a new standard for education in rural Haiti. Tuition-free and inclusive goes further by providing daily meals, uniforms, and school supplies. With school bus transportation ensuring accessibility, safety measures in place, and lush landscaping gracing the campus, every child will thrive in a secure, nurturing environment.

Drawing the finest educators with above-average compensation, the academy’s offerings span academics, extracurriculars, and essential services. The campus is strategically divided into academic buildings, residences, a medical and dental clinic, sports facilities, farmland, and energy production areas—ensuring sustainability at its core.

Since its inception in 2006 as “Breakfast with Santa,” Angels for Humanity aims to infuse joy into the lives of underprivileged children during the holiday season. Our mission is to establish enduring memories for these underserved youth, affirming that they are not overlooked, and that compassion is present in the world. Evolving into the “Joy of Giving” program, this initiative now encapsulates all our year-end activities. Across 17 years, we’ve impacted over 50,000 children through festive Christmas parties filled with games, fun, and nourishment, with each child receiving a thoughtfully wrapped toy that volunteers meticulously prepare months in advance. Your support empowers us to persist in creating indelible memories and a sense of care, which often eludes their everyday lives. Your contribution, whether through donations, volunteering, or fundraising, holds the potential to transform the lives of children globally – be the catalyst for the change you wish to witness in the world.

In December of 2022, Angels for Humanity joined forces with the Broward Gold Coast Down’s Syndrome Organization in a heartening collaboration. Together, we orchestrated an event of immense significance, gifting 150 children with beautifully wrapped toys to brighten their Christmas. This enchanting occasion was made possible through the tireless efforts of seven devoted AFH volunteers. Witnessing the sheer delight on these children’s faces was truly a rewarding experience. As we eagerly await the approaching year, we’re excited to create cherished moments once again with these remarkable kids.

HARVEST OF GRATITUDE Enriching 200 Families with a Heartfelt Thanksgiving, Supported by 29 Volunteers

In the spirit of Thanksgiving 2022, a dedicated team of 29 volunteers united in a compassionate effort. Together, they gathered an array of essential food supplies, crafting the perfect ingredients for a bounteous Thanksgiving feast. With the warmth of giving at its core, this collective endeavor resulted in the provision of complete Thanksgiving meals, including whole turkeys and delectable accompaniments. A total of 200 families, hailing from the most deserving corners of our communities, reaped the benefits of this ‘Joy of Giving’ event. This act not only provided sustenance but also granted these families the cherished opportunity to share in the festive season’s joy alongside their loved ones. A heartwarming experience that undoubtedly left everyone involved with a heart full of gratitude.

MEDICAL MISSIONEl Salvador

Healing Hearts, Smiles, and Communities Worldwide 41

Annually, our medical mission trip gathers 30-40 compassionate volunteers to aid underprivileged children’s medical and dental needs. This year, we journeyed to El Salvador, extending care to children at Benjamin Bloom Children’s Hospital.

Our foundation facilitated wound care, medication distribution, and vital emergency and preventive medical and dental services. As a thoughtful gesture, each child received a goodie bag containing clothing and a dental kit. Many of these kids lack basic healthcare access, and for most, our visit marked their first encounter with medical professionals. Our objective is to offer both preventive and urgent care, aiming to relieve the daily pain and suffering they endure.

This crucial work relies on the generosity of individual and corporate donors, enabling us to procure essential supplies for hundreds of children. By joining forces, we can persist in making a difference for impoverished children in Haiti and other corners of the globe.

BACK TO SCHOOL

Every year, our organization rallies support to aid disadvantaged children through backpacks filled with essential school supplies. Our commitment spans beyond material assistance; we’ve contributed funds for schools and provided uniforms over the years. In the last three years, our Back-to-School initiative in Miami has evolved into a Health Fair. This year, we hosted the event at Earlington Heights Elementary, offering an engaging day featuring a petting zoo, creative arts & crafts, haircuts for boys, hair braiding and nail services for girls, alongside vital medical and dental screenings. The occasion will create lasting memories for over 250 children.

Elevating Futures: Nurturing Health & Education Together Anticipating the future, we aim to amplify this program, offering children the tools to excel academically and build a stronger foundation for their journey ahead. CRISIS INTERVENTION Empowering Resilience, One Child at a Time

Life’s unexpected challenges can strike anyone, pushing even the resilient to the brink. When daily existence becomes a relentless struggle, the turmoil of political instability can escalate despair into tragedy. At Angels for Humanity, we’ve crafted a Crisis Intervention Program that stands by children during their most vulnerable times.

This year, we’re proud to launch a nourishing initiative aimed at L’Ecole Damitier Elementary in Ranquite, Haiti. In the wake of ongoing political unrest, the people of Haiti face even graver uncertainties, leaving countless without a glimmer of hope. Distressingly, essentials such as shelter, sustenance, and clean water remain elusive for many Haitian children, contributing to a distressing statistic: more than 20% of children under 5 years old suffer from chronic malnutrition.

For merely $35 per month, you can empower a single child with sustenance and transformative programs that can reshape their life’s trajectory. With your unwavering support, we can extend a lifeline to many families on the brink of life-or-death situations. Empowering Humanity Through Compassionate Intervention In times of crisis, Angels for Humanity steps in to offer vital support. Over the past few years, Haiti has faced a series of challenges that have left many in dire need. In the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Haiti, already struggling, found itself grappling with limited resources to aid its vulnerable population. Responding swiftly, our dedicated volunteers journeyed to Haiti, armed with masks for children and crucial supplies for the country’s sole cancer hospital.

Shortly thereafter, Haiti was struck by a devastating earthquake that wreaked havoc on the town of Jeremie and its surrounding areas. With the generous backing of the Motorola Foundation, AFH mobilized shipments of essential food and provisions to affected families. By collaborating closely with a local church pastor, we ensured that supplies reached the area’s most in need.

In a recent development, a substantial shipment of donated medical resources was dispatched to Haiti, a nation grappling with the challenge of caring for its ill amidst scarce funds and resources. With sustained financial support, we aim to forge partnerships with organizations, enabling us to deliver assistance precisely where it is most urgently required.

The previous year’s Catwalk for Charity event was a resounding success held at the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne, welcoming nearly 500 esteemed guests. Featuring a stunning runway showcase curated by Intermix and Angel Sanchez, and with the gracious presence of special guest Dee Ocleppo, as well as a captivating performance by Julio Iglesias Jr., the champagne brunch proved instrumental in raising nearly $500,000 for the construction of the Angel for Humanity Academy, a school in Haiti. Moreover, the event paid tribute to three exceptional humanitarians, Tatiana Arteaga-Teo, Jean Raymond Alexandre, and Tim Waller, who were honored with the prestigious Change Maker Awards.

At the illustrious Biltmore Hotel, Angels for Humanity hosted the second annual Tea for a Cause fundraiser. A gathering of 250 elegantly attired guests relished a delightful luncheon featuring a selection of exquisite teas and delectable biscuits.

The highlight of the event was the Best Dressed Contest, won by the distinguished Dr. Camila Guiribitey. The proceeds garnered from this occasion played a pivotal role in bolstering our Back-to-School program, which took place at Earlington Heights Elementary School in Miami.
