Mazell’s Magic comes to Burwood!

Burwood RSL hosted the annual Easter ‘Made In Italy- The Show’ recently, showcasing the wonderful music and memories of our shared Italian upbringing.

The show is designed to have the audience up and dancing the night away, and dancing is what they did with highly charged contemporary hits over a big rock sound, thinkyour local pub’s cover band and colour it in red white and green!

Sara Ruggeri, Tony Mazell

and Marianna Gallifuoco led the vocals. The girls in particular were dynamite.

A spectacular duo with amazing voices, beautiful costumes and a likability that stretched from Bolzano to Burwood! It is a shame that we don’t see more of these amazing talents. Tony Mazell led the show, supplying the energy and charge needed to cultivate and maintain the party atmosphere throughout.

Mertz Fellowship 2022-2023: annunciati i destinatari inaugurali

L'Ambasciata di Svizzera in Australia è lieta di annunciare i destinatari inaugurali del programma Mertz Fellowship.

were cleverly interspersed with Italian interpretations of Anglo songs such as ‘Sono Bugiarda (based on the Monkees i’m a believer), Ricordati Di Me (John Paul Young ‘Love Is In The Air’) and ‘Primavera’.

The band produce a big party sound with extraordinary funk signatures from guitarist Gino Pengue, Blowback synth from maestro Rada Babic, Blistering Bass from the one and only Tony Marinelli and perhaps the most popular man in the room, drumming wizard and all round nice guy, Paul Belfiore! There were moments where the band gave us little tastes of their considerable abilities.

They even held and dropped beats in a way that would have made the James Brown band stand up and take notice.

A slightly blotchy sound mix and some unevenness among the microphones were small distractions in an otherwise big big night.

If you own a pair or dancing shoes, slip them on, pop a prosecco and get along to see the spectacular Sara, Marianna and Tony, as you can only have true fun if it is ‘Made in Italy’.

A seguito del primo bando condotto tra settembre e novembre 2022, due AUD 10.000 Fellowships saranno assegnate grazie al generoso sostegno finanziario dello Swiss Polar Institutee l'Antarctic Science Foundationche finanzierà congiuntamente un Fellow.

Il programma Mertz Fellowship è progettato per incoraggiare il coinvolgimento attivo dei ricercatori all'inizio della carriera nelle scienze polari e d'alta quota e per promuovere i collegamenti tra gli istituti di istruzione superiore e di ricerca svizzeri e australiani attraverso reti scientifiche e progetti congiunti.

L'Ambasciata di Svizzera in Australia gestisce il programma realizzato in collaborazione con lo Swiss Polar Institute.

Il programma riceve finanziamenti dalla rete Swissnex, parte della Segreteria di Stato per l'educazione, la ricerca e l'innovazione(SERI).

I dettagli per i due Fellow inaugurali sono elencati di seguito:

Melissa Gerwin dell'Università della Tasmania, in Australia, porterà avanti il suo progetto intitolato "Uno strumento globale per valutare la vulnerabilità dell'ecosistema ad alta quota al riscaldamento" presso il WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF a Davos, in Svizzera.

Amy Macfarlane del WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF di Davos, in Svizzera, porterà avanti il suo progetto intitolato "Modellazione del trasferimento radiativo applicata allo scioglimento del ghiaccio marino artico e antartico" con l'Australian Antarctic Program Partnership (AAPP).

Il prossimo invito a presentare candidature si svolgerà tra maggio e luglio 2023. Maggiori dettagli saranno annunciati a breve.
