Nous avons à cœur de partager nos valeurs, ainsi que notre langue et notre culture, c’est pourquoi nous vous invitons à rejoindre la belle aventure de l’Alliance Française de Dar Es Salaam.
We are committed to sharing our values, language and culture; this is the reason why we invite you to join the Alliance Française of Dar Es Salaam’s beautiful journey.
Grâce à vous, nos précédents événements ont été de grands succès (Semaine de la Francophonie, Journée internationale du jazz), et, à l’occasion de ce nouveau programme, nous tenons, encore une fois à tout mettre en œuvre pour vous apporter une affiche riche en évènements culturels tout en promouvant la langue Française dans ce fabuleux pays qu’est la Tanzanie. Dans ce livret, nous allons vous amener à découvrir un programme qui vous plongera dans la culture Française par le biais de divers évènements culturels et différentes rencontres qui sauront vous divertir tout en vous enrichissant. Vous pourrez notamment profiter du visionnage de plusieurs films, au sein même de l’Alliance Française de Dar Es Salaam. Les rendez-vous culturels que nous avons organisés en étroite collaboration avec nos partenaires engagés dans la promotion de la langue Française mettront sur le devant de la scène : expositions, concerts et discussions avec des artistes notamment venus de France. Nous vous inviterons également, à l’occasion de la Coupe du Monde de Football 2018, à venir visionner chacun des matchs de l’équipe de France sur grand écran. Une nouvelle fois, le mois de juin accueillera notre traditionnel Barazani, la nuit multiculturelle de l’Alliance Française, où vous pourrez apprécier la musique de plusieurs artistes, venus de divers horizons… Je vous souhaite une nouvelle fois d’apprécier la richesse des découvertes, échanges et apprentissages qui vous seront proposés.

Thanks to all of you, our previous events had been great successes (Francophonie Week, International Jazz Day…), and in this context of a new program, once more, we want to do everything to propose you an agenda full of cultural events while promoting the French language in this fabulous country which is Tanzania. In this booklet, we would like you to discover a program that will make you dive in the French culture through various cultural events and different gatherings that will entertain you in a way that will enrich your knowledge. Among other things, you will be able to watch several movies in the Alliance Française of Dar Es Salaam. The cultural rendezvous that we have organized in close collaboration with our partners engaged in promoting the French language will swing the spotlight back to exhibitions, concerts and discussions with artists, including some from France. We will also invite you, on the occasion of the Football Worldcup 2018, to come watch all of the French team games on big screen. Once more, the month of June will welcome our traditional Barazani, the multicultural night of the Alliance Française, where you will be enjoying the music of several artists who came from various backgrounds.

IBRAHIM FARAJ Ibrahim Faraj, a 28-year-old Palestinian photographer from Gaza, who has become known for his photographs that depicts Hope derived from the occupied, bombarded and besieged Gaza strip. His first encounter with cameras was when he was 8 years old. He was enchanted with this tool that gave him a way of capturing moments and freezing them for eternity. He studied Journalism in Al Aqsa University, to stay in tune with his passion for photography. His first job after graduating coincided with the 2014 Israeli war on Gaza. After the war, Faraj reengaged once again in producing the art that is close to his heart. His aim is to show Palestinian and the world at large the splendour of the sheer beauty, diversity and potential that exists around him in Gaza.

MEET THE ARTISTS la force de la parole (2016) Each year at the University of Saint-Denis is held the contest “Eloquentia”, which aims to elect “the best speaker of the 93”. Students from this university from all backgrounds, decide to participate and prepare themselves. Thanks to professionals (lawyers, slamers, directors ...) who teach them the difficult exercise of public speaking. Over the weeks, they learn the subtle springs of rhetoric, and assert themselves, reveal themselves to others, and especially to themselves. Armed with these weapons, Leila, Elhadj, Eddy and the others, compete and try to win this contest to become “the best speaker of the 93”.

Celebrating European month 2018, the Alliance Française will organize an OPEN DISCUSSION which includes artists from different genres of art such as dance, music, theater and visual art. Artists who have already been invited to showcases in any European country and those with the exposure from these countries will share their experience and knowledge, together with the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities, challenges and setbacks that they had encountered during the entire process. Furthermore, artists who once got invitations from any of the European countries but could not succeed to make it due to various reasons such as VISA, etc… will also be invited to share their experiences… This Open Discussion will involve a panel composed of renowned artists and one moderator.

The Bazaar at Alliance Française de Dar es Salaam! Les Pépites (2016)
Today, they are 25 years old and have finished school or already started working. When they were children, they all had to scavenge for survival in the trash dump of Stung Meanchey Cambodia. That is where a couple of French travellers, Christian and Marie-France, met them for the first time over 20 years ago. Ever since, they have struggled relentlessly to remove the children from such a hell. So far, they have helped around 10,000 children to get an education and build their future.

Milou en Mai (1990) Louis Malle’s Milou en mai is a lush and luxuriant look at everyday life for one family in Southern France in 1968. Milou (Michel Piccoli) is an older man who has lived his whole life with his mother on the family’s estate, enjoying every aspect of rural life and quite content with his own existence. The death of Milou’s mother, the family matriarch, brings the entire clan together for one weekend to settle the estate. The story centers on the reluctance of many of the family members to keep Milou living on the estate, as the family feels it is time to sell and get what money they can.

Isack Abeneko Isack Abeneko is a contemporary live performer, actor, dancer, guitarist and choreographer. His music is derived from various Tanzanian traditional dances, melodies and rhythms, blended with contemporary dance music to illuminate and inspire the next generation. Abeneko delivers social messages, with a patriotism that is not merely flag-waving. “It is my hope to provide a different perspective to the youth who are inspired by western culture and other music styles. They have not grown up to appreciate their own musical heritage and it is disappearing” says Abeneko. His debut album Mama Chambewa was released in 2015. His latest song Salam (2017) has been a huge hit on Tanzanian TV and radio. Abeneko has participated in many music-exchange projects and performed at different festivals including Karibu Music Festival (Bagamoyo), DoaDoa (Uganda), Marahaba Swahili Music Festival, Wikiendi Live Music Concert, The Beat Festival as well as in Denmark, Germany, South Africa, South Korea, USA, Holland, Austria, Poland, Kenya, Malawi and Rwanda.

IFA BAND Jafari Rashid Igomba who is the only blind member of the group was the founding member of the group was born 26 years ago. His love for music pushed to visit rehearsals of a local band (BABA TONI) in his home village “Ligama” and this is where he learned to play acoustic guitar. In the year 2000 BABA TONI band ceased performing and Jafari decided to move to Ifakara district in Morogoro region, where he met with new friends who were also interested in music. This is how IFA Band was born in 2002, and stated performing around the town. IFA is a mobile band, which moves from one place to another entertaining people whenever the agreed amount is paid in a form of fee. Basically it can be described as a street band made up by 6 young boys, and this band is their main source of income. To reach Tanzanian Business capital (Dar es Salaam) the band had to travel for almost a month from one village to another because they could not afford to pay for direct bus fare. In their street performances IFA plays a mix of Copies if demanded by the audience, However the band has composed more than 30 own songs in different styles like Rhumba, traditional, Bongo Flava and “Muziki wa Dansi” rhythms.

How do we become a comic books writer? How is a graphic-type storytelling built? What is a comic reporting? Two comic books authors, Damien Cuvillier and Helene Ferrarini present their relative journey and their common work.
On the occasion of the FIFA World Cup 2018, we will be screening the games on a large screen every time France is playing.
Damien has drawn everything, and since forever. He illustrated tens of comic books, of which the last “Nuit Noire sur Brest” was published by the Futuropolis editors. He has realized numerous illustrations for posters, magazines and exhibitions.

Helene is an independent journalist, who graduated in History. She works for print press and radio, and has come to graphic-type storytelling through reporting.

Together, they sign “Eldorado”, a fictional narrative about to be published by Futuropolis in August 2018. Both present the different stages of a graphic-type narrative, fictional or reporting.
