FEBRUARY 4 - 10: FEEDING TUBE AWARENESS WEEK Feeding Tube Awareness Week (FTAW) aims to raise awareness about tube feeding and unite the community. The aim is to increase awareness and understanding by raising some of the challenges faced and highlighting the dayto-day impact of tube feeding on individuals, carers and families.

FEBRUARY 4: WORLD CANCER DAY World Cancer Day is about raising awareness, improving education and catalysing personal, collective and government action, we are all working together to reimagine a world where millions of preventable cancer deaths are saved and access to life-saving cancer treatment and care is equitable for all - no matter who you are or where you live.

FEBRUARY 18: INTERNATIONAL ASPERGER’S DAY February the 18th is International Asperger’s Day and time to promote and celebrate neurodiversity.

Reminder - Shift Notes

Shift notes are essential for many reasons and must include, as a minimum:•

Times participants slept and woke up.

•

What they ate - if they refused to eat what was offered.

•

What hygiene tasks were completed?

•

What activities were offered, if they engaged and for how long, or if they refused?

•

If they accessed the community - where did they go, and how long were they there?

•

Any behaviours of concern?

•

If they attended any appointments - where, what time, with whom, was any follow-up required?

•

If they had family contact - where, what time, with whom and any concerns raised from the contact Note: Any use of Restrictive Practices – make sure you also include them in an incident report and let your supervisor know what has happened
