Training and Employment Funds Help Adult Learners Achieve Career Goals

The 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds (TEF) can help you reach your career goals in the healthcare industry with programs designed specifically for adult learners. We’ll assist you every step of the way, from completing high school to receiving occupational certifications and advanced degrees.

• Career and Academic Counseling: Meet with counselors one-on-one or attend counseling workshops to develop your career path and identify ways to accomplish your goals. • Pre-College and Foundational Programs: Earn a high school equivalency diploma through classroom instruction or a self-guided option with assistance from tutors and assessors.

• College Prep/Prep Academy: Receive the academic foundation you need—including reading comprehension, essay writing, math and science—if you’ve been out of school for many years. • Foundational Skills: Get the foundational knowledge necessary to advance in your career, with classes in ESOL, digital literacy and more. • Occupational Certifications: Receive industryrecognized certifications to become a certified nursing assistant, licensed practical nurse, certified medical coder, community health worker, substance abuse counselor, or heating, ventilation and air conditioning specialist.

Many programs include financial support. • College Degree Programs: Get help choosing a college degree for occupations including registered nurse, respiratory therapist, dental hygienist, clinical lab technologist, social worker, nurse practitioner, medical records manager, pharmacist or occupational therapist. • College Prerequisites: Take prerequisite courses through the Health Careers College Core Curriculum (HC4) Program for adult learners with little or no experience in higher education. The HC4 Program works with college partners and enables you to take “core” courses to complete your undergraduate degree in an allied health field. HC4 students typically earn 20 to 36 credits before transitioning to coursework in their chosen majors. • Nursing Degrees: Receive academic advising, case management and other support if you’re enrolled in a nursing degree program, including Registered Nursing,

Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, Bachelor of

Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing (including Nurse Practitioner). Financial assistance is available.

• Financial Support for Degrees and Certifications:

Obtain financial assistance, including stipends for continuing education and occupational certifications, tuition vouchers, and reimbursements for professional development and undergraduate or graduate degrees. • Continuing Education: Attend professional development workshops and receive continuing education units and skills training. • Professional Certification Classes: Take classes to meet requirements for maintaining professional certification status, including through CE Direct, the leading provider of continuing education for healthcare professionals.
