SOUTH CHARLESTON LITTLE LEAGUE – REDS | #23 | FIRST BASE
From South Charleston, West Virginia, Wyatt Osborne is powering up at the plate and locking things down at first base for the South Charleston Little League Reds. Wearing #23, Wyatt brings both strength and heart to every game—making big plays and even bigger memories.
Wyatt started playing baseball back in kindergarten, and it didn’t take long for the sport to steal his heart. Now it’s his favorite sport, and he's proving why with highlights like hitting home runs and racking up outs at first base—a season to remember for this young star.
A dedicated fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Wyatt is all about teamwork, hustle, and having fun. He says the best part of being on a team is “meeting new friends, getting better together, and cheering on your teammates!” That positive attitude and love for the game make him a favorite on and off the field.
Off the diamond, Wyatt enjoys a variety of fun hobbies like playing Xbox, VR, Fortnite, Minecraft, shooting Nerf guns, and playing basketball. Whether he’s in the game or in the backyard, Wyatt is always on the move and loving every minute.
When asked about his biggest role model, Wyatt doesn’t hesitate: his big sister, Amelia. “She is awesome and cheers me up when I’m sad. She never gives up on me. She is so brave,” he says—a touching tribute to a sibling who means the world to him.
With a big bat, a big heart, and even bigger goals, Wyatt Osborne is a name to watch as he continues to grow in the game he loves.

SOUTH CHARLESTON LITTLE LEAGUE – PEACHES | #00 | PITCHER & FIRST BASE #00
Meet Layla Bailey, a powerhouse on the field and a rising star in South Charleston Little League. Playing for the Peaches and wearing the bold #00, Layla brings intensity, skill, and confidence to both the pitcher’s mound and first base—and she’s turning heads with every game.
Layla has been playing softball for four years, inspired by watching her brother play baseball. Once she picked up a glove, she discovered something special: not only was she good at it—it was fun. That passion has fueled her dedication and helped her hit a huge milestone this season—smashing 7 home runs!

Her favorite team is Texas A&M, and she looks up to legendary softball star Jennie Finch, a true role model for aspiring pitchers. Off the field, Layla loves tumbling and drawing, activities that show her creativity and energy in every aspect of life.
For Layla, the best part of being on a team is simple but powerful: “Making friends.” That team bond and shared excitement are what make every practice and game even more meaningful.
Layla’s biggest role model is her stepdad, Terrence, who not only supports her but also “gives great advice and gives me what I want,” she says with a smile. His encouragement and belief in her drive her to keep pushing forward.
With a strong arm, a powerful swing, and a love for the game that keeps growing, Layla Bailey is making a name for herself —one pitch, one play, and one home run at a time. Her family says it best:
“Layla Jean, your dedication is outta this world—keep striving for greatness!”

How does this benefit the league/kids? Youth Nation is designed to uplift, highlight, and celebrate the young athletes while bringing the league closer together!
Why are there businesses advertising? By partnering with local businesses for advertisements in its publication, events, and giveaways, Youth Nation provides vital financial support to youth sport leagues, enabling them to thrive and offer quality programming. This collaboration not only injects much-needed funds into the leagues but also fosters community engagement and accessibility by ensuring that both the league and parents can benefit from its contributions free of charge.
How much does Youth Nation cost? This monthly platform is FREE to all participating families each year. Grandparents, aunts & uncles, other friends, and family do have the option to sign up to receive a copy in the mail for a small monthly fee.
What happens if I submit photos and they are not included? Of course we try our best to feature as many athletes as possible, but if you do notice it, please do not be upset. Simply send us a message and we will make sure it is in a following issue!
Can I recommend a local business who would want to support this platform? Absolutely, send us a quick note or pass along our contact information to them.
Does the league, board members, or coaches make the decision on photos used or advertisers promoted? No. Youth Nation is a seperate entity that compliments and supports the league. We follow little league international guidelines and take suggestions from the league.

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak."
– Isaiah 40:29 (NIV)
In the world of youth sports, every player knows what it feels like to be tired—physically, mentally, and even emotionally. Whether it's a long practice under the summer sun, a tough game that doesn’t go your way, or the pressure to keep improving, exhaustion is part of the journey. But Isaiah 40:29 offers encouragement that hits home for any athlete chasing their goals: God gives strength to the weary.
This verse isn't just about spiritual strength. It's a reminder that God cares about every part of your life—including what happens on the field, court, or track. When you're giving your all and feel like you have nothing left, God doesn't walk away. He steps in.
For young athletes, this means two powerful truths:
1.It's okay to be tired. Even the best athletes run out of steam. Feeling worn out doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means you’re human. Isaiah 40:29 tells us that God sees our limits and wants to lift us up, not tear us down.
1.Strength doesn’t just come from muscles. The kind of strength Isaiah is talking about comes from within. It's the courage to keep going, the focus to stay sharp, and the heart to support your teammates. When you lean on God, you tap into a strength that doesn’t fade with fatigue or fear.
So next time you're on the field and feel like quitting, remember Isaiah 40:29. Say a prayer, take a breath, and trust that God is fueling you for more than just winning—He’s shaping your spirit. And in His eyes, playing with faith, perseverance, and heart is the greatest victory of all.

From South Charleston, West Virginia, Markus Johnson brings heart, hustle, and humor to the field as a key player for the South Charleston Black Eagles. Wearing #4 and patrolling center field, Markus is always ready to make the next big play—and have fun doing it.
Now in his second year playing baseball, Markus was drawn to the sport by his love for being part of a team. He’s grown a lot this season, and one of his proudest moments was hitting the ball even harder than before, proving just how far his confidence and skills have come.
A loyal fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Markus may not have a favorite player yet—but he’s quickly becoming one to watch himself. Off the field, Markus enjoys playing Minecraft and making people laugh, a reminder that he brings just as much personality as he does talent.
For Markus, the best part of baseball is simple: “Making new friends.” That team spirit and love for connection are what keep him coming back to the game with a smile on his face.
When it comes to role models, Markus doesn’t hesitate—his mommy is his superhero. “She’s a superhero,” he says proudly, showing just how much her love and support mean to him.
With growing skills, a great attitude, and a heart full of determination, Markus Johnson is proving that with a little fun and a lot of heart, anything is possible on and off the diamond.
