Christmas 2023 At Hildur Yeoman we seek to empower women and we believe everything is possible!

We are very fortunate to be surrounded by extraordinary people that inspire us.

They are musicians, athletes, marketing geniouses, muses, models and artists.

We asked them questions many of us have been dying to know the answers to!

And of course the Christmas Handbook is packed full with amazing holiday looks and gift ideas for everyone.

Occupation: Fashion Designer and Creative Director What are your plans for Christmas? Do you have any favourite Christmas traditions?

I have loads of fun traditions for Christmas. My birthday is in December.

This time it’s a big one so I’m throwing a party. I´m super excited about that.

What’s the song you play to get you into the Christmas spirit?

All I want for Christmas by Mariah Carey.

What is your favourite part of working as a fashion designer and running a store?

Meeting all these inspiring people and helping women find the perfect look for the party season is the absolute favorite part of my job! Seeing a person in the dream fit, feeling amazing.

It´s the best! Christmas time is also a super special time at work. All these holiday shoots, dressing up for work and playing with the girls at the store. Planning work parties, making this magazine. I love it all!

The last few years have been really special at Hildur Yeoman. The brand has grown a lot. You are reaching bigger markets and some amazing and inspiring women such as supermodel and activist Ashley Graham, Amelia DZM, Venus Williams are regularly seen wearing your clothes ? How does it feel?

OMG, it has been a total dream come true and often super surreal. Bear in mind I live and work on a tiny island in the middle of nowhere. So I´m here at home in a blizard and see all these super inspiring women wearing my creations, its a bit mad actually.

BIRNIR Occupation: Soccer player and fashion design student.

Through out your Soccer career you’ve had plenty of amazing moments.

But what has been your favourite memory so far?

This season was special for me cause we won both the league and the cup. I would say winning the league title was my favourite moment, also being voted the best player of the league was very special.

You are studying to be a fashion designer. Have you always been interested in fashion? Where did that interest start?

I would say it started when I was around 15 years old, I don’t really know where it came from but my mom is into fashion and also my grandma is good on the sewing machine.

We love your style, is there any soccer player that you look up to style wise?

Soccer players try very very hard, but there are few guys who I like but most of the time it is very hit or miss. But Bellerin, Kounde and Gnabry are top 3 for me.

Do you have any styling tips for the guys going into the festive season?

Just go in the clothes you want. Sometimes you like the outfit you are wearing at home, but you are afraid to go outside in it. Then you should 100% go for it.

Do you have any rituals that you do before you play a match?

I always eat the same meal at the same time. I dont have some big ritual I do, but I have the same routine for every game.

Do you have anything special to say to 2023 or something that you hope for in 2024?

I hope that I can spend more money on clothes in 2024.

GUÐRÚN EYFJÖRÐ - GDRN Occupation: Musician Your music is a big inspiration to us but what was it that made you want to start making music in the first place?

I have been studying music since I was 5 years old when I started playing the violin, so music has always been a big part of who I am. I was really inspired by all of the great female musician in Iceland and I wanted to try to release my own music and perform, just as they did.

For those who have dreams and ambitions for a career in music, what is your advice to them?

Never give up, but always be receptive to changes.

Throughout your career you have probably met some very inspiring people along the way. Who are the ones that have inspired you the most and why?

There are so many, but I remember very vividly when I wanted to start my own music project and I saw Sigríður Thorlacius perform. She inspired me so much and I thought to myself ,,if she can do it then I think I can too”.

What’s the song you play to get you into the Christmas spirit?

All of Sigurður Guðmundsson’s album ,,Nú stendur mikið til”, I just love every single song on it!

What exciting things are you working on now?

I’m working on a new album that will be released early next year!

DÓRA LILJA Occupation: Model and goldsmith student For those who don’t know you, can you tell them a bit about yourself?

I am a student in goldsmithing. I love fashion and good food.

What are your plans for Christmas?

Do you have any favourite Christmas traditions?

I will stay with my dad’s part of the family in the countryside.

My favourite tradition is eating grafið ærkjöt (cured lamb). It’s a must!

Do you have anything special to say to 2023 or something that you hope for in 2024?

I’m going to say thanks for bringing me some of my favourite people. I’m hoping to continue my studies in Denmark in 2024.

We love your style, who’s your biggest inspiratation style wise?

My two favourite have to be Julia Fox and Bella Hadid.

GUÐRÚN SORTVEIT Occupation: marketing genious We love how you have in recent years been influential for body positivity and how you have been part of the revolution, to make room for women of all sizes. Who are your biggest style inspirations?

My biggest role models when it comes to fashion and positive body image are Matilda Djerf and Ashley Graham. They are definatly both huge role models but in such a different way.

We are feeling festive. What are your plans for Christmas?

Do you have any favourite Christmas traditions?

Christmas time is my favourite season. I’m going to enjoy with my family and eat good food.

What’s your favourite makeup look for the holiday season?

Glowing fresh skin, glitter and a red lip.

Dressing up is so much fun.

Do you go all in when dressing up for New Year’s?

Yes, I feel like you have to go all out when dressing up for new years. You have to say goodbye to the ending year in style. Glitz, glamour and fun!

Do you have any New Years resolutions for the coming year?

It’s kind of always the same. Be the best version of myself and to follow my dreams.

PATRIK Occupation: Musician (Prettyboitjokko) It’s safe to say that you took the music scene in Iceland by storm.

What made you go into music?

I’ve always loved singing and when I was younger I was taking singing lessons. I felt like I owed it to myself to make music. If I wouldn’t do it now I would never do it.

We love your christmas song “Pretty boy um jólin” but do you have any other go to christmas song to get you into the christmas spirit?

Thank you very much. I would say the song “ef ég nenni” by Helgi Björns

We love your style and that you push boundaries, mix and play with traditionally feminine and masculine clothing. Where do you usually seek inspiration from?

I usally seek inspiration evreywhere I can. Anything from celebrities, people on the street or my mom, then I just try to mix that all together.

What exciting things are you working on now?

I’m working on a new album that I will release next year!

RÓSA BÓASDÓTTIR Occupation: Flight attendant, model and a student For those who don’t know you, can you tell them a bit about yourself?

I am a 23 years old adventurous and spontaneous girl, working as a flight attendant. I have a Bachelor degree in psychology and plan on continuing studying more on that topic in the future. My main hobbies are travelling and spending time with my friends and family!

What are your plans for Christmas? Do you have any favourite Christmas traditions?

This year I’m going to spend Christmas in Chicago with one of my best friends. I don’t have big traditions but I have to watch the whole Harry Potter series each year with my family, as well as Love actually, which is my favourite Christmas movie.

Yes, I love dressing up for New Year’s Eve and wearing all the glitter and glamour.

I will leave 2023 full of gratitude and hope. I learned a lot about myself and what I’m capable of.

I will be going into 2024 full of excitement and open minded for new adventures and opportunities that will come my way!

MARÍA HRUND Occupation: Talent agent

For those who don’t know you, can you tell them a bit about yourself?

I am a mom, a daughter, a girlfriend and a dog owner. Three things that are on my mind these days are tennis, teenagers and tarot. But I am also a talent agent for performing artists, mainly actors and standup comedians but also directors, screen writers and photographers. I own and manage the talent agency Móðurskipið (e. The Mothership). I love my job because it encompasses many of the things I most enjoy like communication, culture and creativity.

Do you have any advice for people that would want to work in this field?

Whatever your desired field of work, be true to your inner self, respect others and be persistent.

Who are the ones that have inspired you the most and why?

The people who have most inspired me are those who are, regardless of status or achievements, genuine and honest, towards themselves and others.

We are feeling festive. What are your plans for Christmas? Do you have any favourite Christmas traditions?

As long as christmas dinner includes wild rjúpa (e. ptarmigan) I’m good. Apart from that I just need the companionship of the people I love and candlelights.

Do you go all in when dressing up for New Year’s?

My parents got married more than 60 years ago and every New Year’s my father wears the same tuxedo they got married in. So one of the most festive and fun moments of the year is when we meet on New Year’s eve and he is wearing his tux and I am wearing a dress my mother got back in the 60’s. Add a pinch of golden glitter and some red lipstick and we’re good to go!

VAKA Occupation: Musician Your music is a big inspiration to us but what was it that made you want to start making music in the first place?

It was only in 2020 when I started making music. It was convenient that my friends were working on a song the same day covid shut down our school. We went straight to the studio and we made a horrible song, although we liked it at the time. We kept going for a week and made almost our entire first album that week. I wanted to keep making music because it is fun.

The band, Inspector Spacetime, works great together and it’s a great creative outlet.

Throughout your career you’ve had plenty of amazing moments. But what has been your favourite memory so far?

I couldn’t say what my favourite memory is but everytime we go road tripping across Iceland and get to be a part of music festivals is always a great time. Aldrei fór ég suður is one of my many highlights.

What exciting things are you working on now?

We recently released EXTRAVAGANZA and are now working on releasing some merch very soon! T-shirts and records are on our docket.

What’s the song you play to get you into the Christmas spirit? “Það snjóar” by Sigurður Guðmundsson, “Fyrir jól” by Björgvin Halldórsson and Svala are two different yet very christmassy songs that get me into the Spirit. Although “Sjáumst Aftur” by Páll Óskar is my all time favorite non Christmas Christmas song.

Do you go all in when dressing up for New Year’s I love dressing up for the occasion! black, sparkles, and silver are my three elements that tie my New Year’s look together.

EYDÍS BARKE Occupation: Model Please tell us a bit about yourself, what is your background and how did you get into modeling?

From a young age I have always been interested in all kinds of art, make-up and fashion, and sometimes held fashion shows at home. It has for a long time been at the back of my mind to become a model, since I had gotten offers several of times. Last year I decided to take the opportunity and got my first modeling job for the LHÍ show and shortly after I got contacted

by Ey Agency.

What are your plans for Christmas? Do you have any favourite Christmas traditions?

For the last years I have celebrated christmas at Sauðárkrókur with my dad‘s family. We really don’t have any particular traditions but I like helping my sister’s dad to bake some cookies for the holidays.

What’s the song you play to get you into the Christmas spirit?

Last Christmas by Wham!

We love your style, Where do you usually seek inspiration from?

I get a lot of inspiration for my style from social media. Thrifting is also where I can piece together some fun outfits ideas. I also love to dress colorful and wearing something that stands out. Yeoman is one of the clothing brands that I love since they work alot with colorful and beautiful patterns that matches my style. Then a handbag is always a must with all of my outfits that I pick.

Do you go all in when dressing up for New Year’s?

The New Year’s are hands-down the time I go all out! I love wearing something colorful or shimmery when I’m stepping into the new year.
