they are connected, something which very few people in Bulgaria do. In Japan, that type of skilful completion of things has its traditions and it is passed on to the young architects by their more senior colleagues. Georgi started the design stage of that villa in 2002-2003, as his first independent project, later he did a specialization in Japan and I guess that also influenced his solution. The architectural method of Georgi and Vyara brings them close to the one used by many Japanese architects. In addition to conducting serious analysis of the conditions related to the brief: those suggested by the location, the social, economic, functional ones, the peculiar point is that the negative conditions of the project are used as keys for design solutions and are thus turned into positive ones. I will provide a few examples from some other projects of Georgi and Vyara’s where they have used the same method. A building near the seaside, which, however, lacks a panorama, has been designed in such way so that it provides passers-by with a view of the sea. The two architects turned a prosaic recreation facility from socialist times into a

modern hotel. At places, where the new construction technologies have not been well utilized, they use traditional primitive construction methods that are typical of the region, which is the case with the stone masonry villa near the town of Teteven and this new project of the villa in Bistritza. Georgi and Vyara turn the “basket” into a “spaceship”. To my mind, that is Low Tech, High Concept. Yoshi Yamazaki (Tokyo, 1966) architect. Lives in Sofia, Bulgaria, since 2007. In a method created by this research and analysis he has written articles, lectured and presented the creation of architectures. Published in a+u, World Architecture, kenchiku bunka.
