The Membership Drive of 2015 is clicking on all cylinders as 45 new and/or transferring members have been accepted into the Club since March 1st and it’s only April 20th today! Of those 45 members, 29 are Regulars, 7 are Specials, 3 are Non-Resident G. & T. and 6 are Social Members. Our Membership Drive runs through the end of June at which time the $2,000 initiation fee for Regular Membership will revert back to its previous level of $5,000. So keep up the great job of spreading the word of the Club’s Membership Drive and make sure your friends, relatives and business associates apply for membership before the first of July or they will miss this great incentive for joining early! Golf season kicks off in full force here at the Club beginning on Tuesday, May 5th when “Tuesday Night Couples’ Golf” begins and runs every Tuesday through the end of August. The competition this season will change every Tuesday with prizes awarded nightly plus prizes for the top teams with the highest point totals through all seventeen weeks of play. Weather permitting, Chef Mike fires up the outdoor barbecue and offers a full buffet each Tuesday night on the patio while also offering the full dinner menu. We always take reservations on the patio, so make your reservations early as our beautiful spring and summer weather entices nearly all the Tuesday Night golfers to dine on the patio! Then this year the old Friday Night Couples’ four-person team playing a Scramble format…2 couples per team…has been moved to Thursday Nights. So begin asking another couple to pair up with as the Thursday Night Couples’ Golf begins Thursday, May 7th and also runs through the end of August. If you haven’t yet participated, don’t feel intimidates…it’s all about fun and laughs and then enjoying dinner and libations on the patio after play! Besides being fun, playing in these couple events is a great way to meet and play with other members of the Club that you might not have had a chance to meet just yet! For all the “men” of the Club…remember that Mother’s Day is quickly approaching and Chef Mike is already anticipating 500+ for his “Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch Buffet” on Sunday, May 10th. Once again the Club will be taking 150 reservations per hour beginning at 10:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. We all know “mom” doesn’t want to cook on the one day of the year that we all honor “mom”, so bring her out to the Club for the “Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch Buffet”! The serving of brunch and dinner on Sundays begins on Sunday, May 24th and runs through Sunday, September 27th as the warming weather undoubtedly encourages members to enjoy dinner “on the patio” after enjoying a round of golf or a swim in the pool on Sundays. Hope to see everyone out enjoying and supporting their club on Sundays beginning Sunday, May 24th. May also brings the opening of the swimming pool as it officially opens on Saturday, May rd 23 for the 3 day Memorial Day weekend. The pool is then open weekends until Friday, June 12th when it opens daily through September 7th. The pool hours are 12:00 noon till 6:30 p.m. weekdays and 10:30 a.m. till 8:30 p.m. on the weekends after June 12th. All members must register at the pool daily and sign-in their guests…$5.00 per day for a relative-guest and $10.00 per day for non-relative guests. Cash is not accepted…all guest fees must be charged to the member’s account. Jeffrey C. Thomas, General Manager

We are excited to start our seventh year here at the Country Club. The weather has been great and tennis may be able to start a little sooner this year. I have had several inquiries about lessons and men’s night starting before summer and we will accommodate anyone who would like to play or take a lesson. We will see if the weather holds. Please call or email Ann about times. We welcome Wa-Hi tennis to the courts. If you would like to play and they are practicing, please feel free to let Coach Peck (girls coach) or Coach Eggers (boys coach) know you would like to play. Members always have preference. If it is a school match, then courts will be available after the match completes. The dates for the school matches will be posted on the pro shop door. Wa-Hi thanks the Country Club for this privilege. We are gearing up for a busy summer with several new activities in the works. We have been discussing with the pros in the Tri-Cities about having a social with players from there, both men and women. We will keep you posted. Also, we are starting a pre-tournament group that will participate in several Pacific Northwest USTA events. Times and costs for lessons are on the following page. IMPORTANT Changes in Tee Times this Spring The Golf Committee and Board have agreed to alter Saturday tee times for a trial period of April through May. The tee times on Saturdays will run from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm off the number one tee only with “Men's Day” from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Members may play before and after “Men's Day” but keep in mind, if you are a slower player, please avoid the early morning times as it will slow down the golf course for the entire day. The tee will be monitored and those members who do not complete nine holes in under 2 hours will be asked to speed up or find a time more suitable to their play. This is a trial period for the months of April and May and will be re-evaluated in June. If you need help on making a tee time or finding a tee time best for you, please call the golf shop as we’ll be happy to help you. Parents with small children or young juniors or beginning golfers don't forget about Sunday afternoon tee times from 2:00-5:00 pm to play. This time is blocked off just for your use.

Bocce Ball and Bean-Bag Toss “Bocce Ball” and “Bean-Bag-Toss”… anyone interested?! It would be great to start a Couples’ League of both Bocce Ball and Bean-Bag-Toss! These games can easily be played on the Blue Tee on #10, making it very convenient to enjoy an hors d’oeuvre and a glass of wine! And if these catch on, multiple sets can be ordered and played by members on an evening basis. Another great area for playing these games would be around the “chipping green” by the pool. Maybe we can warp this into a season ending “tournament”... just think…the “Bocce Ball” and “Bean-Bag-Toss” Champions of the Year are ???!!!

Fr ! "#$ G%l' C (r)$ Spring is finally here and the maintenance staff is busy preparing the course for the upcoming golf season! With great weather, the mowers are out daily trying to manage this initial flush of growth. Greens, tees, and approaches were all aerated last month and have recovered very well. We were unable to use hollow core tines due to cool, wet weather and instead used solid tines that are less disruptive and allowed for speedy recovery. We will continue to verticut and lightly topdress greens throughout the year to improve playability and smoothness. Last year we used a 7 foot asphalt roller on our fairways with tremendous results and once again will be rolling these areas which results in smooth fairways and also levels out imperfections and tracks that have been left over the years. Once all fairways are rolled, we will verticut and sweep all fairways of debris. Verticutting fairways will take us approximately a week to finish, but will greatly improve the health and playability of the turf. Bunker rake placement always seems to come up every couple years, and last year we chose to leave rakes out of bunkers. After doing this for a year, it became apparent it greatly increased the maintenance time due to operators having to dismount mowers more than once a hole to move and replace rakes. I have also had comments of “difficulty finding the rake” and many times the rakes were left in bad places. So, we are once again changing placement of rakes to inside bunkers, off the edge parallel with play. Thank you! You may have noticed the new ball pickers that are next to the practice greens. We have in the past used pickers with skateboard wheels attached that roll over the green. We have had problems with these “pickers” being stolen so have replaced them with wire cages that work very well. Please continue to use these after you have completed your practice chipping and putting! The Green Committee has recommended the removal of the black locust on the left side of #15 fairway approximately 75 yards from the green. There is an oak both north and south of this existing tree. For reference, the small oak south of the locust was planted the same time as the oak on the right side of the fairway by the bunker. If you have any comments about this, please communicate them with the Green Committee Members or Board of Directors. With golf in full swing, please remember to repair all ball marks, replace divots and use the sand and seed containers whenever possible. Avoid driving carts near tees and greens and scatter as much as possible. Enjoy the season and I will see you on the course! Jeff Blanc, CGCS P.S. Clubhouse Parking Lot will have the lines painted Monday, May 18th.

FBoC M D =(! The new minimum cycles will end on the day of the month the “main’ member was born… example: Jim Abajian was born on the 11th day of his birthday month so his and Rhonda’s minimum cycle will run from the 12th of every month through the 11th of the following month. It’s very simple, just remember to have spent your minimum of $45 no later than the day of the month of your birthday! Those who have birthdays later than the end of the month, will fall on the last day of the month. So if you were born on the 31st and there are only 30 days in the current month, your cycle would end on the 30th.
