oap, something that is a necessity! It is getting even more attention now since the pandemic started and it is a perfect time to make your own. Did you know that within 45 minutes you can create beautifully scented soaps? The process is easy and you can include the whole family.

The simplest process is to use the Melt and Pour system. Here is what you will need; 1. Soap base which comes in a 2 pound brick. Make sure it is a melt and pour base. 2. Microwave safe bowl. 3. Serrated knife. 4.Soap molds, at least two. 5. Pick out some scents that you like. (make sure they are soap oil scents) 6. Whisk 7. Small spray bottle -for alcohol. 8. Plastic wrap. Many of these items can be found on-line or at your local craft stores.

I use a cutting board to cube about 8 to 10 pieces of soap, then place them in a microwave safe bowl. Next, pull enough plastic wrap to cover the bowl, place it in microwave for 10 second intervals. (until soap is liquefied. You can use a whisk to check it or carefully tilt the bowl to make sure all is melted. Footnote: Fill a small spray bottle with Alcohol and set aside for later.

Once all is melted decide whether you want all your bars to be one scent or two. If you want two, pour half of your soap into another bowl and add about one teaspoon of your scented oil to the bowl. Use the whisk to blend it. If you want a strong scent add a 1/2 teaspoon more to the mixture.

Your scent is in and you are ready to pour the soap into the molds. I fill the molds and leave about an eighth of an inch from the top. It can be filled right to the top, it is all a matter of choice. Next, take your spray bottle and put a small mist of alcohol onto the soap, this will eliminate bubbles. Let the soap set for at least 45 minutes or until completely solid.

Now that your soap has hardened, you can remove it from your molds. I suggest that you flip the mold over and press the form to gradually release the bars. It may take a bit, but it is well worth it, I did not add colors to this batch, however you can find many soap safe colors. As you perfect your soap making, try adding herbs, flowers and more. Finally, check out different tutorials on the Internet for many creative ideas!
