FREE TAFE AND JOBTRAINER OPPORTUNITIES ABOUT FREE TAFE The Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative aims to reduce the financial barrier for students wanting to train in courses that lead to priority occupations - those in demand from employers in the Victorian economy. Free TAFE for Priority Courses is a Victorian Government initiative that will pay a student’s tuition fees if eligible*, to study one of the priority courses at TAFE. Students who are eligible for Victorian Government-subsidised training will not pay course tuition fees for a range of: • •
Priority non-apprenticeship courses, state-wide Victorian Government-subsidised apprenticeship pathway courses (sometimes called pre-apprenticeships).
ABOUT JOBTRAINER The Victorian Government has partnered with the Commonwealth Government to jointly invest up to $260 million under the JobTrainer Fund. JobTrainer will provide free or low-fee qualifications for thousands of eligible* people in a wide range of industries identified as having a genuine skills need and employment growth. • •
Free or low-fee courses are available to Victorians who have been most impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. School leavers, job seekers and young Victorians can access free or low-fee (concession) qualifications in key industries and occupations, including Free TAFE courses, even if they hold a higher qualification.
