The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

Celebrating our diverse differences and providing a culture to ensure everyone is included, is something we are extremely passionate about here at Wodonga TAFE. We are proud to be able to offer our students the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower.

In Australia and New Zealand 1 in 5 people are said to have a disability, 80% of these are hidden. All Wodonga TAFE staff have undergone training to help recognise the Sunflower, gain a deeper understanding of what hidden disabilities are, and learn how to approach and support colleagues and students living with a hidden disability. Some examples of disabilities that may not be immediately obvious include autism, anxiety, chronic pain, dementia, or learning difficulties.

Students studying at Wodonga TAFE may choose to wear the Sunflower in the form of a lanyard or wristband to discretely show teachers and staff they need additional support, help, understanding, or even a little more time. For more information visit www.wodongatafe.edu.au/hdsunflower

Kids on Campus Early Learning Centre

Kids on Campus Early Learning Centre is tucked away in the beautiful natural environment behind Felltimber Creek, midway between Wodonga TAFE’s McKoy Street campus and La Trobe University Wodonga. The Centre offers long day care, kindergarten, and family day care services for all families within our community, and is open from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Kids on Campus Early Learning Centre offers a space where children and their needs are the centre of the universe, where they can express themselves through art, stories, music, dance and performance. Our Centre is a place where children can plant a vegetable garden and play in an environment away from the noise and pollution of traffic, a rare pleasure for childcare centres.

At Kids on Campus we have created a safe and positive environment for children to develop and grow, for them to feel comfortable and most importantly to have fun while learning. We aim to offer a service for children that follows routine, develops meaningful relationships, and offers engaging experiences so they feel completely at ease to spend time in our care. We take the time to get to know and understand a child’s personal needs and individual learning styles, their likes and dislikes, and develop a program that meets those requirements for a happy and nurturing experience.

If you would like to speak to someone about enrolment, or if you have any questions about our service or would like to arrange a tour through our wonderful Centre, contact us on 02 6055 6635 or email

“I chose a career in Early Childhood Education as I was in childcare until grade 6 and had the opportunity to see both positive and negative role models within the industry. I wanted to play a role in improving the childcare industry by becoming a positive role model myself. I love being able to provide the best quality care for children and watching their smiley faces as they are presented with exciting experiences that help their learning.”
