THE TACKLE BOX

This week I have a little special for you who are looking for a quick and easy peek in on some lure ideas for the over-all fishing enthusiast who wants to cover several bases and yet not be wishing for another lure to use in a specific situation. Rapala has a little blurb on their website that is a great insight to what you would need, for certain conditions, however I liked the one for the Alaska trip, simply based on the lure choices they presented. We could use them here on the high lakes just as easily to entice Browns, and other trout species to the bite. Blue Fox Vibrax spinners are a great choice for larger to smaller trout species and the number 3 would be great for smaller lake fishes, but if you are after larger quarry, then you can use up to the number 5 Vibrax spinners which come in a semi-large variety of colors and styles depending on lake and fisherman preferences. Spoons are always a favorite and quite versatile, depending on what you are fishing for, they can be the one go to lure that will cross over to many applications of fishing the easiest. The traditional Thomas Lure is a prime example; however, the Rapala site chose the Blue Fox spinner series for the Alaska Emergency Kit they are promoting. Warts are another great choice if you want a more traditional looking lure to use, and again, size of fish greatly dictates the size and style of the lure. The article is pushing the Storm Wiggle Wart, or the Mag Wart, and either of these are a great choice. I have preferences to the Storm Wart, simply based on shape. I like it better, but there are applications where the Mag Wart would work better, and depth of the fishing water can decide which lure would work better for which one to use. Fishing conditions and locations are so different, and what you catch fish on one day, won’t even cause a strike another day. So having a good variety of fishing lures on hand is always a great way to cover all the bases you can, but if you are limited on space, then you may consider going with a few of the basics, and go back to the traditional lures that are time tested, and fish proven. Rapala has a wonderful line of lures for choices. Finding the one that will be best to you is some of the most fun that you can have as a fisherman wanting to outfit your tackle box. FISH ON!!! Klamath Crisis Center The Klamath Crisis Center has a working outreach for help to domestic and/ or sexual violence victims. We have a thorough network of volunteers for immediate transport to safety from North Klamath County. It is said that the definition of insanity is “Doing the same thing over and over and over and over, BUT expecting different results?” If you want a change, you must first admit the problem and then find out what options you have. It is called informed consent. We encourage you to get information, even if you don’t act on it right now. If you are staying in a violent relationship, aren’t you consenting already? Just want to talk? Need to make a safety plan? Want to know your options? Wish you could build a healthy life for you and your kids? Think your relationship is toxic? Feel fearful and confused by your partner’s behavior? Need information from a confidential source? The North Klamath County Outreach for the Klamath Crisis Center is a no-cost support organization. We are here for you and will help you get safe and stay safe. We are also scheduling community presentations for the www.datesafeproject.org and self-empowerment sessions.
