This winter, South Florida audiences will once again have the chance to experience one of the most stirring and enduring works in musical theatre history. Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed production of Les Misérables, the Boublil and Schönberg’s Tony Award-winning global phenomenon, will return to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts December 16-28. You can rediscover a story that continues to resonate across generations.
Few musicals have captured the human spirit with such sweeping emotion and unwavering clarity. Les Misérables is set against the turbulent landscape of 19th-century France and tells a deeply human story of broken dreams, unrequited love, sacrifice, and redemption. At its core is the belief that even amid injustice and suffering, hope endures. As Mackintosh himself reflects, “No show in the world has ever demonstrated the survival of the human spirit better than Les Miz, and it’s time to let the people sing again.”

Since its premiere, Les Miz has become a cultural touchstone. Over 130 million people have experienced the show in 53 countries, 438 cities, and 22 languages. Les Misérables remains one of the world’s most beloved and influential productions. Its score is filled with such iconic songs such as “I
Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “One Day More,” “Bring Him Home,” and “Do You Hear the People Sing?” that are etched into the collective consciousness of theatergoers around the globe.
This return to Fort Lauderdale features Mackintosh’s celebrated production, first conceived in 2009 for Les Miz’s 25th anniversary. Since then, it has swept across the world with record-breaking success, from North America and Australia to Japan, South Korea, and Europe. As this beloved musical approaches its 40th year in London’s West End, its legacy only grows stronger. The milestone has inspired the first-ever Les Misérables: The Arena Spectacular world tour, as well as new stagings by leading amateur companies across the U.K. This is a testament to how deeply this story continues to inspire performers and audiences alike.

The Fort Lauderdale engagement brings together the renowned creative team that shaped this celebrated production, with direction by James Powell and Laurence Connor and stunning designs inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo himself. From its evocative sets to its soaring orchestrations, every element is crafted to immerse audiences in Hugo’s world. This is a world where love and loss, justice and forgiveness, despair and hope intersect with unforgettable force.
As another generation prepares to experience the barricades rise once more, Les Misérables continues to stand as a timeless testament to resilience. Its themes feel as urgent today as ever, reminding us that the fight for dignity, compassion, and freedom is both historic and eternal. When the final chorus swells and the cast asks, “Will you join in our crusade?,” the answer echoes across decades.

An unforgettable world of wonder, artistry, and imagination is coming to South Florida. Cirque du Soleil is bringing its breathtaking production LUZIA to Gulfstream Park, marking the very first time this extraordinary show will be performed under the iconic Big Top in our area. Audiences will be transported into a vibrant dreamscape inspired by the heart and soul of Mexico February 19 to April 25, 2026. LUZIA is a feast for the senses, a journey through light, rain, culture, and magic.
LUZIA is written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca in association with Brigitte Poupart, and it invites spectators into an imaginary Mexico, a surreal world where tradition meets modernity and where the boundaries of reality swim freely between dreams. Even the show's name reflects its poetic nature. ‘Luz’ meaning light and ‘lluvia’ meaning rain are the two key elements that come to life onstage in ways that will defy your expectations.

production flows seamlessly from a vintage film set to a shimmering ocean, a lively dance hall, and even an arid desert. Each scene unfolds like a living painting, brought to life with Cirque du Soleil’s signature mix of world-class acrobatics, mesmerizing visual effects, and innovative staging.
LUZIA is visually stunning, but it is also groundbreaking. Rain is woven directly into the performance for the first time in a Cirque touring production, transforming the stage into a living, breathing canvas. Aerialists twist through cascading water, artists spin under falling showers, and acrobats glide across wet surfaces with breathtaking precision.

From the moment you step under the famed Cirque du Soleil Big Top, you will enter a place where the ordinary dissolves and a vibrant tapestry of sights and sounds take over. The

Watching the performers interact with the elements adds an entirely new dimension to the experience, elevating the artistry to unparalleled heights. Every moment feels like stepping deeper into a surreal dream, one with color, culture, and pure imagination.

LUZIA also features a lineup of awe-inspiring performances guaranteed to leave audiences speechless. These include:
Cyr Wheel mastery in the rain, a feat never-before attempted in Cirque’s touring history.
Aerialists soaring from trapezes, flying and twirling beneath pouring water.
Hoop diving on massive treadmills, amplifying the speed, energy, and daring leaps.
A mind-bending contortionist twisting into shapes you never thought humanly possible.
A gravity-defying aerial straps specialist performing over a mystical cenote.
A juggler tossing seven pins at lightning speed.
Two world-class football (soccer) freestylers, fusing dance

Since its founding in 1984, Cirque du Soleil has inspired over 378 million people across 86 countries. LUZIA continues that legacy by pushing creative boundaries and crafting experiences that resonate long after the curtain closes. A special Black Friday offer provides you a 20% off all performances and price levels for a limited time available only until December 1 at luzia.cirquedusoleil.com/miami. Whether you’re a Cirque du Soleil devotee or a first-time attendee, LUZIA promises an experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen with an enchanting, transportive journey into a world where rain dances, light sings, and imagination reigns.

Many Americans are fortunate to have dental coverage for their entire working life, through employer-provided benefits. When those benefits end with retirement, paying dental bills out-of-pocket can come as a shock, leading people to put off or even go without care.
Simply put — without dental insurance, there may be an important gap in your healthcare coverage.
When you’re comparing plans ...
Look for coverage that helps pay for major services. Some plans may limit the number of procedures — or pay for preventive care only.
Look for coverage with no deductibles. Some plans may require you to pay hundreds out of pocket before benefits are paid.
Shop for coverage with no annual maximum on cash benefits. Some plans have annual maximums of $1,000.
Medicare doesn’t pay for dental care.1
That’s right. As good as Medicare is, it was never meant to cover everything. That means if you want protection, you need to purchase individual insurance.
Early detection can prevent small problems from becoming expensive ones.
The best way to prevent large dental bills is preventive care. The American Dental Association recommends checkups twice a year.
Previous dental work can wear out.
Even if you’ve had quality dental work in the past, you shouldn’t take your dental health for granted. In fact, your odds of having a dental problem only go up as you age.2
Treatment is expensive — especially the services people over 50 often need.
Consider these national average costs of treatment ... $222 for a checkup ... $190 for a filling ... $1,213 for a crown.3 Unexpected bills like this can be a real burden, especially if you’re on a fixed income.

“I absolutely love my dental insurance. My dental office files the claims, leaving me with very little balance to pay.”
