he first time I became familiar with the British Virgin Islands, residents and visitors would tell me that the 60-plus islands were the end of the line. They were described to me as the end of the supply line and where (mostly) Brits fled to, to get to the end of the fading empire, away from prying eyes and living free in one of the most scenic destinations in the world. In those years, many years ago, one could run into fascinating characters over rum drinks and there was an atmosphere reflecting the whole end-of-the-line destinations, the way Key West residents felt about our own southernmost point. My, how things have changed. In our monumentally smaller world, there are a lot more places in which to lose oneself. The BVI aren't as maverick or as off the grid as they were 30 years ago. Anegada is flat and surrounded by coral reefs. That means sport diving and fishing, with some memorable underwater scenery and wrecks for the Scuba or skin diver. On the unfortunately named Virgin Gorda, enjoy a quintessential Caribbean vacation, stroll or swim at the unspoiled beaches at Savannah Bay, Pond Bay, Devil's Bay, Mahoe Bay or Spring Bay. Here you will find vestiges of the islands' colonial history, particularly at the Spanish ruins at Little Fort National Park and the Cornish Copper Mines. In the BVI, we are talking more casual, Caribbean attractions than many destinations in the region. Instead of walled resorts and stratified compounds, they have open doors, welcoming locals and natural splendor. Your best meal might come on one of the smaller islands cooking up local fish caught in the past few hours, grilled simply and served with humble regional ingredients like breadfruit and local greens. The BVI beg for exploration for tailoring to specific tastes, and to the curious. Oh, there are tremendous resorts on the islands, from Bitter End Yacht Club to fascinating private Guana Island to Mango Bay Resort. And there are quaint and sometimes elegant accommodations like Anegada Reef Hotel to Emerald Crest Villa, and many others. But since a visit to BVI is really about the luxurious out-of-doors, does it really matter? Figure your budget accordingly and do some browsing. You won't spend much time indoors. After all, isn't serenity what one looks for at the edge of civilized society? Even if maybe, that edge has extended just a little bit farther as the world has grown smaller.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD nce upon a time… a brash 29-yearold writer-director showed up at the Cannes Film Festival with a movie he called Reservoir Dogs. It was a unique and bloody twist on a 'post crime caper film' that blasted its way onto the screen, became the must-see movie of the year, and propelled Quentin Tarantino into the unique category of 'mega-celebrity director.' What followed over the years was a string of really great films in his distinct style; Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill V1 & V2, Death Proof, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, and The Hateful Eight. In Once Upon a Time, the now 59-yearold filmmaker brings us his most personal film to date, a love letter to the Hollywood he cherishes, but was not old enough to ever experience. It's fun to watch Tarantino build his private vision of Hollywood in 1969 complete with all the images, clothing, billboards, and dialogue he's gleaned from all the films he loves from that period of time. While the story leisurely and beautifully moves along at its own pace, what becomes fascinating is how he unfolds the tale of his two main characters, fading golden boys who are confronting their own irrelevance. It makes one wonder if Tarantino himself isn't also facing that same identity crisis. Rick's diminishing celebrity is forcing him to contemplate the unimaginable act of going to Rome to star in Westerns, while Cliff, who hides a violent streak under the bright Hawaiian shirts he wears, is trying to just hang on. They are surrounded by a host of successful Hollywood celebrities, from Steve McQueen to Roman Polanski, who just moved in next door with his new bride Sharron Tate (Margot Robbie), that makes their positions in the industry all the more depressing. This is an odyssey into the film industry that features a large and talented ensemble cast who fill out multiple storylines that pay tribute to the final moments of what Tarantino sees as Hollywood's golden age The pairing of DiCaprio and Pitt is a dream acting team that only Tarantino could have pulled off this well. He relishes in both the acting moments of the film and the realistic moments, giving equal weight to each actor, and maturely examines the bond the two friends have created. The film itself is spectacularly ambitious, touchingly nostalgic, engrossing, and hits you with a batch of surprises. It's definitely a Tarantino film, and a good one. My take… at almost 3 hours long, watching Once Upon a Time in Hollywood seems like watching a short film. It will suck you in and leave you wanting more.

This year's ceremony is going to be a battle of the pop princesses with both Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift snatching 10 nominations each. Who will take home the most Moon Persons is yet to be seen, but here are my top picks.

Lizzo It may seem like Lizzo just came out of nowhere and went straight to the front of the class, but she's been schooling her fans since she was 14 years old. In an industry that puts so much pressure on image and tries to hide flaws with photoshop and camera tricks, Lizzo celebrates her curves and literally puts it all out there. Her confidence is only overshadowed by her talent, with a stream of hits and sold-out shows over the past year.

Bad Bunny (featuring Drake): "Mia" Watching this video reminded me of growing up in Miami, and showing up at the impromptu house party that someone hosted while their parents were away. Of course, Drake never showed up to any of them, but of all the nominees, this one captures what everyday Latin life is really about, minus all the half-naked women.

These guys took the essence of "Show Me Love" and "Finally" and weaved it into a track that's as fresh as it is nostalgic. Throw in Lipa's sultry vocals weaving a hypnotic melody and you've got yourself a dance anthem that no one can resist.
