PUBLISHER’S CORNER HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR As we get ready to celebrate the Holiday Season, Christmas and New Year, some of us will do so with our biological families, while other members of our community will do so with their chosen families and friends. The holidays don’t always arrive wrapped in neat traditions or predictable guest lists. For many LGBTQ people, the season becomes something even more meaningful: a celebration shared with the family we choose. Chosen family is built through care, laughter, late-night conversations, and the quiet understanding that comes from being truly appreciated without judgement. When the year winds down and the lights go up, gathering with friends who know your story can feel like coming home in the most authentic way. Your chosen family may be a mismatched group crowded around a small table, passing dishes that reflect different cultures, identities, and memories. It may be Friendsgiving that stretches into December, or a New Year’s countdown shouted in your favorite gay club. These moments matter because they are intentional. Every invitation is an act of love. Every shared moment is something you build together with your chosen family and friends. There is a special kind of joy in celebrating without having to explain or stress yourself. Names, pronouns, partners, and boundaries are respected without question. You can wear what feels right, love who you love openly, and laugh a little louder knowing you are safe. In these spaces, the holidays become less about obligation and more about connection. As the year comes to an end, being surrounded by chosen family offers a powerful reminder that we survived, we grew, and we did not do it alone. We toast not only to the year ahead, but to the resilience that brings us together. New Year’s resolutions feel wonderful when shared with hopes spoken aloud, dreams encouraged, and futures imagined collectively. Spending the holidays and New Year with your LGBTQ family and friends can be a joyful time that reminds us we belong, we celebrate each other, and we are worthy of love exactly as we are. WINTER PARTY FESTIVAL 2026 TURNS UP THE HEAT IN MIAMI At its heart, Winter Party is about more than music. The Festival is about community. Proceeds from Winter Party benefit the National LGBTQ Task Force and its vital work advancing justice and freedom for LGBTQ+ people through advocacy, organizing, and education. Since 2005, Winter Party and the Task Force Gala have reinvested over $4 million into more than 100 community organizations in South Florida, while also fueling national social justice efforts.

Miami and Miami Beach are about to turn the volume all the way up as the National LGBTQ Task Force’s Winter Party Festival 2026 storms back for its 33rd anniversary February 26 to March 2, 2026. Equal parts dance marathon, cultural celebration, and community love letter, Winter Party isn’t just another festival, it’s our community’s full-on movement blending world-class entertainment with a powerful mission of raising critical funds to support local and national LGBTQ+ communities. Now in its third decade, Winter Party has become a global phenomenon, welcoming more than 10,000 attendees from around the world each year.
