OLD SCHOLARS’

MORNING TEA AND SCHOOL TOUR

How fabulous it was to have had an opportunity to welcome some of our old scholars back to the School grounds after the chaos of 2020! Despite the rain on the day, we still managed to host a lovely tour and morning tea for a wonderful group of past Wilderness women. Armed with umbrellas, the tour went ahead! I was privileged to have had the honour of showcasing the incredible new developments that have occurred over recent years. The tour included unveiling the new Learning Commons (completed that year), the Michell Music Centre and the Gymnasium all of which were highlights amongst the group. Many of our old scholars commented on how these new facilities have been perfectly integrated with the original cherished parts of the School. Wilderness, even with its modern developments, continues to respect its rich heritage and idyllic setting.

For an old scholar to come back to a school that has endured such tremendous change over the years and still feel a true connection is exceptional. The group thoroughly enjoyed the experience of witnessing all that is new, while reminiscing over the familiar. I loved being a part of their experience. Wilderness will continue to grow and develop to maintain its status as a world class education provider, whilst remaining ‘Always True’ to the core values of the School, respecting the Misses Brown’s vision and the memory of old scholars who walked the grounds. At the conclusion of the tour, we shared an enjoyable morning tea in the new Chrysalis, the top tier of the new Learning Commons building. Overlooking the cloudy skies of Adelaide on the day, we had a lovely time exchanging stories and memories of times past.

Thank you to all the gorgeous old scholars who came and shared in this lovely morning. It was a pleasure to see so many familiar faces and have an opportunity to become acquainted with those new to me. We are very much looking forward to hosting the annual event again this year.
