Wilderness Times | Summer 2021
FAREWELL SUE WARK The end of 2020 saw us farewell a long serving and dearly loved member of our Wilderness community, Sue Wark. Sue has been a Year 1 teacher at Wilderness for 14 years. After a teaching career spanning more than 40 years, she has retired. Sue has made so many contributions in so many ways during her time with us. Her classroom teaching is synonymous with a high degree of academic rigour and expectation delivered in a way that is engaging, accessible and such great fun. She touched the lives, improved the learning outcomes and made a difference to so very many girls and their families at Wilderness. She is fondly remembered for the creativity and humour which were injected across her teaching and learning program, with drama often at the centre. Her reputation for designing opportunities for the girls to participate in relevant learning based on real life problems is outstanding. It is this commitment to ensuring both the experience and the outcomes for her girls that sees her retire from teaching at Wilderness as a highly regarded educator, colleague, teacher and friend. Sue will be greatly missed. Our loss, however, is her family’s gain and we wish her joy, relaxation and great adventure as she takes this next step to spend more time with her grandchildren in 2021 and beyond.
