This Pertemps Network Final is a Grade 3 Handicap Hurdle run over three miles and is restricted to horses that finished in the first six in one of the many Pertemps Qualifiers run throughout the season. For the first time since Buena Vista in 2011, a horse defended the Pertemps Final title and in doing so, Sire Du Berlais became the highest-rated winner of the race in its history. Defying top-weight and a handicap mark of 152, Sire Du Berlais travelled well in his first-time blinkers and moved up to challenge approaching the last under Barry Geraghty. The pair battled on bravely to defeat stablemate The Storyteller by half a length.
