It gives me enormous pleasure to welcome all our Annual Members today.
Like all good couples, Richard and Judy, William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway and salt and pepper, flat and jumps racing live in harmony in the UK It is delightful that they are amalgamated on this unique day celebrating the eclectic nature of British racing. Today is an exclusive card in the calendar, as the only “mixed” fixture in the year
The Swinton Hurdle, today’s feature contest, is a fascinating affair and the first big race of the 2024/25 jumps season Winners in the past have been varied in their careers. Alumni include Syballin, a future Tingle Creek winner, Dreams End a double winner who had a career at stud and Blue Bajan, a previous City and Suburban Handicap winner, ridden by Graham Lee at Haydock. We all wish Graham well as he continues his recovery from a horrific fall at Newcastle in the autumn.
The chief supporting race in the flat is a thoroughly absorbing Listed contest over 7 furlongs. It is very often used as trial for the John of Gaunt Stakes which is held next month here.
Annual badgeholders have a bona-fide medley of facilities at their disposal today. From viewing boxes high upon in the county stand, to reserved seating and a designated bar, there’s plenty of amenities for you all.
If you turn left out of Haydock Park, follow the A49 for about 90 miles and turn left again, you will get to Ludlow Racecourse. Tomorrow, Haydock Park members areadmittedfree on one ofourcacophony of reciprocal days I hope to see you all there and today and wish you an enjoyable and successful afternoons racing.

2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race.

1. FORM EXPERTVIEWAs part of our joint commitment to each other and the communities in which we operate, all racegoers should be aware of the Code of Conduct and observe the following whilst at our Racecourse.

PLAY SMARTER
ZAIN NIGHTS is a hurdler on the up and a 6lb rise for Cheltenham may not be sufficient to prevent him from completing the hat-trick given he remains unexposed at the trip Harbour Lake meets the selection on 4lb better terms and shouldn’t be far away again, while Lord Snootie is also one to note in what is set to be a fiercely-competitive event.

2023: NO CORRESPONDING RACE LASTYEAR
Probable S.P’s: 3-1 Sunny Street (IRE), 5-1 King’s Fountain (GB), 11-2 Winterfair (IRE), 8-1 Cerulean Bay (IRE), Cheshire Dancer (IRE), 12-1 Johnny Ringo (GB), 18-1 Bravo Zulu (IRE), Sennockian (IRE), 20-1 Silent Move (GB)
SUNNY STREET seemed to shirk the issue when splitting a pair of subsequent winners on his handicap bow at Southwell but he’s clearly well handicapped so is worth another chance back from a break. Cerulean Bay should come on from his decent return at Beverley and is next best ahead of Winterfair

PLAY SMARTER
BALLEE did really well to stick at it for as long as he did having helped contribute to an overly-strong gallop at Aintree a month ago, and at the forecast prices, he looks the way to go Lark In The Mornin will do for many on the back of his ready Boodles win but the juice in his price has gone, while Rare Middleton may well be able to reverse last month’s Cheltenham form with Tintintin.

We have agreed with our vets that the screen should be erected, whenever a horse requires veterinary treatment on the course. This does not reflect the severity of an injury, but does help to provide a calm environment, in which the vet is better able to treat the horse.
Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse.

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Haydock Park Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
