Welcome to our first evening race meeting of the year with 7 races this evening.

We would like to thank our sponsors tonight who are Nucleus HR, Racing TV, Signfab, Tony Toach and son and a very happy birthday from us all to Judy Robinson.

Important points to note today are:

Public bars and food stands will close today immediately following the final race and the racecourse will close shortly after

Please take a look at the racecourse map within your racecard to familiarise yourself with our facilities and in particular the location of our first aid unit. We have 3 active first-aiders for your safety.

For our loyal Owners and Trainers we have provided the Paddock Pavilion for your evening meal plus the Club Terrace and the top floor boxes.

Annual badge holders can also use the Paddock Marquee today plus use of the Club Terrace.

Please be aware that we are now cashless on all bar and food outlets accepting only debit or credit cards. Please be assured that turnstiles and betting facilities will continue to accept cash for the time being. For those customers who either forget their cards or do not possess a debit card or credit card, we have special vouchers within the main office where you will be able to exchange your cash for vouchers and should you not spend your vouchers on the day you will be able to exchange them back for cash before you leave (up to 30 minutes after the last race), or use them on a future meeting.

Today these outlets are situated at the Main Office. Please remember to purchase your Ladies Day tickets soon as they are selling fast and once gone it is unlikely that there will be any available to purchase on the day.

HAVE A GREAT EVENING, THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING US AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN FOR THE NEXT MEETING WHICH IS OUR KING POWER FAMILY DAY ON BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY 27TH MAY.

★★★★✩ Good chance of being placed.

9. Jockey Colour

10. Form Guide

11. Star Rating

12. Official BHA Rating

★✩✩✩✩ Can be given little or no chance

Official BHA Ratings

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet

Fair Point can place again, while Saeed bin Suroor has won this twice with newcomers in recent years so Historic City needs keeping an eye on.

DECLARED RUNNERS 10

Temperamental sort. 4/1, creditable fourth of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 18 days ago TFRHHHII BHA59

2023: BIG BEAR HUG 4 9 9 Trevor Whelan 11-4 (Adam West) 5 ran Tongue Strap worn by No 4, 7. Visor, Tongue Strap worn by No 10. Sheepskin Cheek Pieces worn by No 8.

Running for the first time since Gelding No 5.

Stewards Note: ROYAL JET: Following its run on 17/4/2024 it was reported that the horse was slowly away. PENDING APPEAL: Following its run on 20/4/2024 it was reported that the horse ran too freely.

Probable S.P’s: 3-1 Nikovo (GB), 4-1 Law Supreme (FR), 15-2 Khathak (GB), 9-1 Mumayaz (IRE), 10-1 Tobetso (IRE), 12-1 Royal Jet (GB), 14-1 Savanna King (GB), 16-1 War of Words (IRE), 18-1 At Liberty (IRE), 33-1 Pending Appeal (GB)

NIKOVO did well to make it 2 wins from as many starts for his current yard at Chelmsford last week having been forced to make his move widest of all off the home turn and, with the return to turf unlikely to pose a problem, he’s fancied to complete the hat-trick. Fellow last-time-out scorer Law Supreme warrants plenty of respect, with Royal Jet also of some interest up in trip following a promising stable debut.
