BET TING WITH THE BOOKMAKERS

DIFFERENT WAYS TO BET - WIN OR EACH-WAY

The two main types of bet are win and each-way. For win bets, your horse needs to win the race outright An each-way bet is effectively two bets – one for your horse to win and one for it to be placed. So a £2 each-way bet will cost £4 A bookmaker taking each-way bets will display the terms on which they accept such bets on their board. In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

• Fewer than 3 runners - Win bets only, no places offered

• 3 or 4 runners – Win bets only Where a bookmaker wishes to depart from this default position they may offer place terms at 1/5 odds a place 1-2.

• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2

• 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3

• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3

• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3-4

• Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4

PLACING YOUR BET

Shop around for the best odds When you have decided where to place your bet, state the number of your horse and the stake, for example “Number 4, £2 win” Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to their clerk and hand them your money. You will then be given an itemised receipt detailing your bet and potential winnings. You should keep this safe until you have heard ‘Weighedin’ announced after the race If your bet is successful, hand your ticket to the bookmaker and they will give you your winnings

HOME FREE: Following its run on 8/4/2024 it was reported that the trainer could not explain the poor run.

Probable S.P’s: 10-3 Take Centre Stage (IRE), 7-2 Five Dollar Fine (IRE), 13-2 Aubis Walk (FR), Home Free (IRE), Chapel Green (IRE), 7-1 Chase A Fortune (GB), 20-1 Backbyjet (IRE)

CHASE A FORTUNE has made a pleasing start to his chasing career and tied up only late after forcing the pace in testing conditions at Carlisle last time, so is fancied to build on that promising effort to notch a second win over fences. Five Dollar Fine is respected after his recent C&D win, whilst the quirky Take Centre Stage is worth treating as if still in form and shouldn’t be ruled out.

Please note the information in this Official Race Card, Weights, Pedigrees, Trainers Names, Descriptions, Performances and Values of races etc., have been added for the convenience of the Public. They are subject to alteration and the management cannot be held responsible for omissions or errors.
