TENDER RELEASED FOR THE WORK TO RENOVATE CLEETHORPES’ PIER GARDENS

The Government-funded Pier Gardens project in Cleethorpes has reached another milestone today, with the release of the tender for the works to the market.

Since the outline designs were approved last year, work has been ongoing in the background to take that design and refine it for release to the market.

The latest designs show an array of different zones in the Gardens – from a small park for the skate community at the northern end, through water and woodland play zones in the middle to a quieter, more serene and contemplative area towards the Armed Forces Remembrance gardens.

Input from local people have helped to shape the designs and some of the features in the gardens – from the inclusion of public art throughout the scheme to practical things like public footwashes and bicycle repair stations!

The local skate community were also involved in developing the skate area alongside international specialists, Betong Park, with all sorts of different elements included in the design.

A tender has been released to the market today looking for construction companies who are interested in the redevelopment of the Gardens.

COMMUNITY TREE PLANTING BEGINS

There are two lots of work – one to do the overall Pier Gardens renovation, including the landscaping and planting, as well as creating the different zones across the site; the second lot is specifically to create the skate area at the northern end of the site. Separate tenders will be released for the play structures and public art at a future stage following the application for necessary planning permissions.

As part of the tender, detailed planting plans have been included for the gardens that bring in planting suitable for marine environments as well as new trees to envelop the site.

Cllr Philip Jackson, leader of the Council, said: “This really feels like it’s moving on apace now. We know that the work is likely to take about a year or so to transform the gardens, so we’re working with events organisers already who use the gardens through the summer – we can’t do this project without disrupting one summer season.

The first trees have gone into the ground as part of a new initiative to support biodiversity and improve the local environment.

South Kesteven District Council has planted four climate resilient lime trees at one if its rewilding sites in Market Deeping.

This follows adoption of SKDC’s new Trees and Woodland Strategy, which encourages planting the right trees in the right place for the right reason.

More are planned for Grantham, Stamford, Bourne and Market Deeping during the next few weeks, thanks to specific funding to cover planting and aftercare.

The planting sites are at Meres Leisure Centre, Grantham; Harrowby Lane, Grantham; Foxglove Road, Stamford; Beaufort Drive, Bourne; Rochester Court, Bourne; Fraser Close, Deeping St James; Burchnall Close, Deeping St James; Tattershall Drive, Market Deeping.

Potential volunteers can register or enquire by emailing climatechange@ southkesteven.gov.uk or calling on 01476 406080.

Species to be planted: Field maple; Silver birch; Hornbeam; Cornelian cherry; Turkish hazel; Hawthorn; Spindle; Sweet gum; Crab apple; Persian ironwood; Cherry plum; Cherry; Willow-leaved pear; Hungarian oak; English oak; Pin oak; Whitebeam; Wild service; Lime; Hybrid (disease resistant) elm; Buckthorn (shrub); Guelder rose (shrub).

“The centre of Cleethorpes will look very different in the next few years, with the projects, funded by Government, being delivered alongside the work being done to restore heritage balconies, key buildings like the Mermaid and the Dolphin and work being done by partners in other areas of the town.

“I can’t wait to see it all start to come together.”

The tender is available on www.contractsfinder. service.gov.uk, and search for “Cleethorpes Pier Gardens”, or YorTender (yortender.eu-supply. com) reference 96246.

CELEBRATING MUM

Mother’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to show appreciation for the women in our lives. Whether it’s your mum, grandmother, or another maternal figure, making them feel special doesn’t have to be complicated. The most meaningful gestures often come from the heart. Here are some thoughtful ways to celebrate this Mother’s Day.

A HEARTFELT START TO THE DAY

Start the morning with a simple yet thoughtful gesture - breakfast in bed. A tray filled with her favourite tea or coffee, fresh fruit, or a stack of warm pancakes with a drizzle of honey will make for a perfect start. Adding a handwritten card or a small bouquet will make it even more meaningful.

Alternatively, if she prefers a more relaxed morning, let her enjoy a lye-in while you take care of things around the house. Sometimes, the best gift is a stress-free day.

THE GIFT OF TIME

For many mums, the best present is quality time with loved ones. Plan a day out based on her interests, perhaps a walk in the local park, or a visit to a garden centre. If she enjoys culture, consider taking her to a museum or an afternoon theatre performance.

For those who prefer a laid-back day, a cosy afternoon at home watching classic films, enjoying homemade cake, and sharing laughter can be just as special.

A SPECIAL MEAL OUT

Dining out is a wonderful way to treat your mum and make her feel extra special. Many restaurants offer special Mother’s Day menus, featuring indulgent afternoon teas, Sunday roasts, or fine dining experiences. Whether it’s a cosy country pub, a stylish bistro, or her favourite local restaurant, booking a table for a delicious meal gives her a chance to sit back, relax, and enjoy being pampered.

To make it even more memorable, consider a restaurant with scenic views, live music, or a menu featuring her favourite cuisine. Be sure to book early, as Mother’s Day is a popular occasion for dining out!

A PERSONAL TOUCH

Gifts with sentimental value can be more meaningful than expensive purchases. A personalised photo album, a framed picture of a cherished memory, or a heartfelt letter expressing your appreciation can be incredibly touching.

If you have young children in the family, get them involved in making handmade cards or crafting keepsakes, these gifts are often the most cherished.

PAMPERING AND RELAXATION

Mums often spend so much time looking after others that they rarely take time for themselves. Treat her to a relaxing spa day or create a calming atmosphere at home. Run a warm bath with scented candles, luxurious bath salts, and soothing music. A pampering gift set with skincare treats, a soft robe, and her favourite chocolates will complete the experience.

If she enjoys being pampered but prefers company, booking a spa treatment for two can be a lovely way to spend time together.

A THOUGHTFUL ENDING

As the day comes to an end, why not surprise her with a little something extra? A handwritten letter, a film night with her favourite movie, or a final toast to celebrate everything she does can be the perfect way to round off the day.

Ultimately, Mother’s Day is all about appreciation. Whether it’s through time spent together, a thoughtful gift, or simply reminding her how loved she is, it’s the sentiment that truly counts.

This Mother’s Day, make sure to celebrate the incredible women who bring love, warmth, and wisdom into our lives.

EASTER UNWRAPPED TRADITIONS, TREATS, AND TALES

Easter, a joyous celebration observed by billions of people around the world, will soon be upon us, steeped in history, tradition, and symbolism. From its ancient origins to modern-day customs, Easter holds a special place in the hearts of many, marking the renewal of life, hope, and faith. Let’s delve into the fascinating history of Easter, explore some cherished traditions, and discover meaningful gift ideas to share with loved ones during this festive season.

The origins of Easter can be traced back to ancient pagan festivals celebrating the arrival of spring and the renewal of life. In many cultures, these celebrations included rituals honoring fertility deities and symbols such as eggs and rabbits, which represented new life and abundance.

With the spread of Christianity, Easter became intertwined with the story of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion, death, and resurrection. According to Christian tradition, Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and rose from the dead three days later, on Easter Sunday, symbolizing victory over sin and death.

Early Christians adopted many of the customs and symbols associated with spring festivals, infusing them with new meaning to reflect the spiritual significance of Easter. Over time, Easter evolved into one of the most important and widely celebrated holidays in the Christian calendar, marked by religious services, feasting, and the exchange of gifts.

EASTER TRADITIONS:

Easter is celebrated in diverse ways around the world, with each culture adding its own unique customs and traditions to the festivities. Some of the most common Easter traditions include:

EASTER EGGS:

The tradition of decorating eggs dates back to ancient times when eggs were seen as symbols of fertility and rebirth. Today, Easter eggs are often dyed or painted in vibrant colors and hidden for children to find during Easter egg hunts. Easter Bunny: The Easter Bunny, a beloved symbol of Easter, is said to deliver eggs and treats to children on Easter Sunday. This tradition originated in Germany and was brought to America by German immigrants in the 18th century. Easter Sunday Services: For Christians, Easter Sunday is a time of

worship and reflection, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Churches around the world hold special services, including sunrise vigils, hymns, and prayers. Easter Feast: Easter is a time for feasting and fellowship, with families and friends coming together to share a festive meal. Traditional Easter foods vary from region to region but often include roast lamb, ham, hot cross buns, and spring vegetables.

GIFTS FOR EASTER:

When it comes to Easter gifts, there are plenty of thoughtful and meaningful options to choose from. Whether you’re looking for something sweet, sentimental, or practical, here are a few gift ideas to inspire you: Easter Baskets: Fill a decorative basket with an assortment of treats, such as chocolates, candies, and cookies, along with small toys, books, or games for children to enjoy. Personalised Gifts: Consider giving personalized gifts, such as engraved jewelry, monogrammed items, or custom-made keepsakes, to add a special touch to your Easter celebrations. Spring Flowers: Brighten someone’s day with a bouquet of fresh spring flowers, such as tulips, daffodils, or lilies, symbolizing the beauty and renewal of the season. DIY Crafts: Get creative and make your own Easter gifts, such as handmade cards, painted eggs, or homemade baked goods, to show your loved ones how much you care. Religious Symbols: For those celebrating the religious significance of Easter, consider giving gifts that reflect their faith, such as a Bible, cross pendant, or religious artwork.

Easter is a time of joy, hope, and renewal, marked by cherished traditions and meaningful rituals. Whether you’re gathering with family and friends, attending religious services, or exchanging gifts, Easter offers an opportunity to celebrate life’s blessings and share love and happiness with those around us.

CARRIE CLAYDON

“Painting is my passion. The mystery and excitement of creating never fails to amaze me. The possibilities are endless.”

Carrie Claydon is an abstract floral artist from California. Her incredible abstract paintings are often described as dreamy and ethereal.

For Carrie, creating a wistful and delicate atmosphere in her work is key. Her foregrounds and backgrounds are designed to negotiate and dance with one another, neither superseding the other and both treated with equal importance.

“Layers are everything. The time, the history, and the stories that come from building layers all make for a more evocative painting.”

“I could paint on one canvas forever, but I force myself to do several at once. Old things fascinate me, the stories they could

tell. I want to capture that essence with my own hands. Painting with abandon is my mission.”

A celebration of the advent of spring, the confidence of femininity, and the fountain of rebirth are all strong influences on Carries work. Claude Monet has always been Carries favourite artist and impressionism her favourite movement. The influence of the style is clear to see and was accentuated once she began to paint with her fingers.

“Using my fingers to paint flowers was a game changer for me, it brought me such joy to dip my hands in colour and literally put myself into the painting. . . it is like dancing the finger marks onto canvas, like a waltz.”

MARKET PLACE, CLEETHORPES

Government funded work is planned to rejuvenate Cleethorpes Market Place in the coming year. Let’s have a look at how it used to be.

North East Lincolnshire Council secured Government money for three key projects in Cleethorpes – things that people wanted to see updated from work done by Hemingway Design in the Cleethorpes Masterplan.

The three projects include building a new, iconic building opposite the pier entrance which will be home to a new food and beverage tenant; renovating the Victorian Pier Gardens along Alexandra Road, to create a multi-use space fit for the future for relaxation, education, entertainment and reflection; and work to Cleethorpes’

historic Market Place, to make it a more welcoming and pedestrian friendly space.

Work on the Market Place project is well underway, with national designers helping the Council. One of the complexities of the Market Place is its layout, an open area with seven roads leading in or out of it. The layout is mainly historical, and relates partly to buildings that used to occupy the same space.

In the early 20th century, these buildings were knocked down to create the space we currently know.

As works continue to plan for the new Market Place, let’s have a look of some of its history.

From illegal markets to a bustling town centre: the history and future of Cleethorpes Market Place

Cleethorpes Market Place is an area of Cleethorpes steeped in history and culture, but how much do you really know?

With its redevelopment just around the corner, let’s take a look back at the origins of the seaside town and the influential

Market Place that drove tourists and traders to the seafront.

Cleethorpes and the surrounding areas were occupied by hunters and gatherers during the prehistoric period, and Beacon Hill was a focus during the Anglo-Saxon period, but other than occasional finds there is little yet to suggest that the Romans lived here.

In medieval times Cleethorpes was split into three hamlets: Itterby, Oole and Thrunscoe, the names derived from a mixture of Old English and Old Scandinavian.

The word ‘Clee’ means clay in Old English and is thought to refer to the boulder clay that is prevalent in the area. Oole, which is now the Market Place, refers to the fact Cleethorpes sits in a dip.

“Hole”, or “Hoole” or “Oole” is first mentioned in the Lindsey Survey of 1565 as a small fishing settlement of 13 families.

Its omission from the earlier Domesday Survey of 1085 could be it either didn’t exist then or it was not significant enough to be taxed, as Domesday was primarily documenting land values so a tax could be levied.

“Hole” is recorded as having held markets in 1322, which the Borough of Grimsby

claimed were illegal. These markets are thought to have been local people selling their wares such as food, possibly fish, crafts and clothing.

But by 1362, John of Gaunt, the son of King Edward III obtained the right to hold a Thursday market in Thrunscoe and a fair for St Michaelmas on 29 September, and so right to hold the market was given, and that right still exists today.

The population continued to grow and in 1802 the first Methodist Chapel in Cleethorpes was built in ‘Chapel Yard’ which is now part of the Market Place.

By 1850, the name of Hole had gone as the area became known more as the collective town name, Cleethorpes. Many of the new buildings being built can still be seen today and the layout of Market Place and the surrounding roads would be familiar to locals and visitors alike today.

Cleethorpes was expanding at pace, at this time, there were three hotels and 106 lodging houses. The town was also seeing a higher number of visitors with some 30,000 visiting per day during the peak times.

In the coming years, the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway company would pump around £100,000 into the town to make it a tourist hotspot, changing the parlous cliffs into graceful promenades, seawalls and boating lakes.

The area was described by one writer as “one of our oldest watering places, and from its situation, the most salubrious on the Lincolnshire Coast”.

In the early 20th century, a number of buildings that used to be in the middle of Market Place were also knocked down to create the space we know now.

By 1930, 600,000 people were visiting every Summer, with the Market Place acting as the hub of the town and a key link from the popular pier and prom, via entertainment venues such as the Empire Theatre to the blossoming B&B trade in the rows of housing behind.

There were a range of butchers, fishmongers, cafes and other businesses selling their wares to tourists who had used the now long-established railway line to come to Cleethorpes.

Along with Sea View Street and St Peter’s Avenue, Market Street, is one of the centres of commercial and social life in the town.

Fast forward to the present day, and Cleethorpes and the wider North East Lincolnshire area, plays host to upwards of 8.5million visitors a year, spending more than £630million in the local economy. A brand new Market Place will help contribute to this in the future.

GUARDIAN ANGEL CARERS COMMUNITY GRANT

Guardian Angel Carers has decided to give away Community Grant – a sum of money that could benefit any local group in Newark that works with vulnerable and/or elderly people.

Guardian Angel Carers opened in July 2023 and has community at its heart and wants to support other organisations in the community.

Andy Smith, Managing Director, said, “As well as providing care & companionship services to people living in their own homes, Guardian Angel Carers brings people together

to inspire hope, wellbeing, happiness & independence

So many neighborhoods thrive because of the amazing volunteers who work tirelessly to run community groups, host events and provide services that benefit others. Much of this work involves supporting older people who, without regular coffee mornings, day-trips or lunch clubs, would be left isolated at home.”

The care provider is making available £250 to a community group/charity or initiative that works with vulnerable and/or older people within the area. The group that can best demonstrate a need for additional support will be allocated the funds. The deadline is March 31st 2025

Guardian Angel Carers Newark offers a realistic alternative to residential care by allowing people to stay in their own homes with care and support. Their work can involve one or more short visits a day in order to help with the everyday tasks of life. However, their service doesn’t stop there because longer duration visits are also available, including overnight help and live-in care.

SPRING INTO ACTION!

As the days grow longer and the first signs of spring brighten our landscapes, March is a pivotal month for gardeners. It’s a time of renewal and preparation, with the promise of vibrant blooms and productive crops ahead. Here’s how to make the most of this exciting month in your garden.

1 THE GROUND AWAKENS

Winter may have left the soil compacted and lacking nutrients, so now is the time to invigorate it. Begin by clearing away any lingering debris and adding a generous layer of organic compost or well-rotted manure to enrich your beds. As the soil warms, this will provide the perfect environment for strong, healthy growth.

2 PLANTING AND SOWING

March is a prime time to sow seeds, both indoors and outdoors. Hardy annuals like calendula, cornflowers, and larkspur can be

sown directly into prepared beds. If you’re eager to start your summer displays, sow half-hardy annuals such as cosmos and zinnias indoors in seed trays. Vegetable growers can also get started. Broad beans, peas, spinach, and early varieties of carrots can be sown directly into the ground. For crops like tomatoes, chillies, and aubergines, start them off indoors or in a heated greenhouse..

3 PRUNING AND TIDYING

March is the month to tackle pruning tasks before the sap starts to rise. Trim back roses, cutting just above outward-facing buds to encourage strong new growth. Late-flowering clematis can also be pruned now, cutting back to about 30cm from the ground. Clear away the remnants of last year’s perennials and ornamental grasses, cutting them down to ground level to make way for new shoots.

4. WILDLIFE-FRIENDLY GARDENING

As the garden awakens, so does the wildlife. Welcome pollinators by planting nectarrich flowers such as hellebores, lungwort,

and early primroses. Provide a source of water for birds and bees, and keep bird feeders topped up as natural food sources remain scarce. If you’ve been considering a wildlife pond, March is an ideal time to start. Even a small pond can attract frogs, newts, and dragonflies, adding vitality and balance to your garden ecosystem.

The gardening year is just beginning, and the work you put in now will reward you with a season of beauty and abundance. So, grab your gloves, roll up your sleeves, and let’s make March a month to remember in the garden.

Garden Design and Construction

REFRESH YOUR HOME AND GARDEN FOR SPRING

As the days grow longer and the first signs of spring emerge, now is the perfect time to refresh your home and garden.

March brings a renewed sense of energy, making it an ideal moment to embrace small changes that will brighten your living space and prepare your outdoor areas for the months ahead. From simple interior updates to essential garden maintenance, here’s how you can make the most of the season.

BRING A TOUCH OF SPRING INDOORS

As nature wakes up outside, your home should reflect that same sense of renewal. Start by decluttering and reorganising, storing away winter blankets and making room for lighter, brighter textiles. Swapping dark, cosy cushions for soft pastels or fresh floral prints can instantly lift your space, bringing in a sense of warmth and vibrancy.

Spring also offers an opportunity to refresh your walls. A quick coat of paint in a light, airy shade can make a room feel instantly larger and brighter. Greens, soft yellows, and muted blues are particularly on-trend this year, mirroring the colours of the season and creating a fresh, welcoming atmosphere.

If a full refresh isn’t on the cards, small decorative touches can still make a big

impact. A new table centrepiece with seasonal flowers, scented candles in fresh linen or citrus fragrances, or even updating artwork with nature-inspired prints can all help breathe new life into your home.

SPRING CLEANING WITH PURPOSE

March is synonymous with spring cleaning, but it doesn’t have to be a daunting task. Take it one step at a time, starting with key areas such as the kitchen and living spaces. Deep cleaning windows, for example, will not only let in more natural light but

will also make your space feel fresher and more open.

It’s also a great time to assess storage solutions, adding woven baskets, open shelving, or stylish storage boxes can help maintain a clutter-free space. Organising cupboards and donating or repurposing items you no longer use will give your home a sense of order.

PREPARE YOUR GARDEN FOR THE WARMER MONTHS

Spring is the season of growth, and after months of colder weather, your garden is ready for some attention. Start by clearing any winter debris by sweeping pathways, trimming back overgrown hedges, and giving garden furniture a good clean.

Now is also a great time to prepare flowerbeds and borders. Turn over the soil, add fresh compost, and begin planting vibrant spring flowers. While daffodils and tulips may already be starting to show from autumn planting, you can still introduce cheerful spring colour with primroses, pansies, and forget-me-nots.

If you’re keen to grow marigolds this year, March is the perfect time to start them indoors. Sow the seeds in trays and place

them in a warm, sunny spot. Once the risk of frost has passed—usually around May, you can transplant them into your garden for a burst of vibrant colour throughout the summer.

For those with smaller outdoor spaces, container gardening is a fantastic way to bring in seasonal colour. Hanging baskets, window boxes, and potted herbs can all brighten up patios, balconies, and doorsteps.

Outdoor Upgrades for a Stylish Garden As temperatures start to rise, your

garden will soon become an extension of your home, so now is the time to ensure it’s looking its best. Giving fences and decking a fresh coat of paint or wood stain can transform the overall feel of your outdoor space, while adding solar lights or lanterns will help create a cosy atmosphere for spring evenings.

If you’re considering a larger project, now is the time to plan. Installing a pergola or garden arch can provide a stylish focal point, while raised beds or new paving can redefine your space and make it more functional for the months ahead.

GET READY FOR ALFRESCO LIVING

With warmer days approaching, it’s never too early to prepare for outdoor dining and relaxation. Check garden furniture for any needed repairs, invest in a new outdoor rug to create a cosy seating area, or add a firepit to extend the use of your garden into cooler spring nights.

For a simple but effective update, switch out old cushions for fresh, weather-resistant fabrics in bright spring shades. A few wellplaced planters with fragrant lavender, rosemary, or vibrant geraniums can also bring a Mediterranean-inspired feel, enhancing your outdoor space with colour and scent.

March is a time of transition, offering the perfect balance between fresh starts and forward planning. By taking the time to refresh both your home and garden now, you’ll be ready to fully embrace the beauty of spring. Whether you’re adding seasonal touches indoors, reviving outdoor spaces, or preparing for alfresco evenings, a little effort now will ensure your home is ready for the months ahead, creating a welcoming and uplifting environment for you to enjoy.

LOCAL CAR RETAILER

DEBUNKS

COMMON MYTHS ABOUT SWITCHING TO AN ELECTRIC CAR

With sustainability and the cost-of-living crisis at the forefront of people’s minds, many drivers are considering making the switch to an electric car to save money on their motoring.

However, as electric vehicles (EVs) continue to gain popularity, recent research by Auto Trader has highlighted that misinformation significantly impacts consumer confidence in EVs, causing many potential buyers to hesitate*. To ease the transition, a car retailer in Lincoln is helping local

drivers separate fact from fiction when it comes to making the switch.

Andy McInnes, Business Manager at Stoneacre Lincoln, on Lincoln Fields, said: “Despite sales rising annually, there continues to be apprehension and misunderstanding

around EVs – with many drivers unsure about costs, charging and maintenance.

“We’ve rounded up some of the most common myths we come across, to help Lincoln drivers feel more informed as they consider switching to electric.”

1. EVS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE TO RUN THAN PETROL-POWERED CARS – WRONG!

“According to Auto Trader’s research, 70% of consumers had heard the claim that EVs were not cheaper to run and admitted this made them less likely to buy an electric car*. While the upfront cost of an EV can be higher than some petrol-powered cars, the reality is that the average EV driver pays around £567 to charge their car annually, based on driving 6,300 miles a year. By contrast, petrol and diesel drivers pay around £1,146 to cover the same mileage –almost double the cost**.

“So, while it may seem like a big initial investment, lower maintenance costs and the savings on fuel make EVs more economical in the long run.”

2. THERE AREN’T ENOUGH CHARGING STATIONS – WRONG!

“A common worry we find Lincoln drivers have is finding themselves low on battery midway through a journey with nowhere to charge. The reality is that most modern EVs offer a range between 200 and 400 miles, and fast-charging networks are expanding rapidly. Most people drive fewer than 40 miles per day, which is well within any EV’s capabilities.

“If you’re out on the road, there are currently more than 73,000 public charging points across the UK***, many of which are at supermarkets, shopping centres, car parks and service stations, making it easier than ever to charge your car while you go about your weekly business.”

3. CHARGING POINTS CAN BE EXPENSIVE – IT

DEPENDS!

“We often hear people say they’re confused about the cost at different charging points. The speed and cost at which your car charges will vary at different locations, depending on the type of chargers they offer.

“Bigger supermarket chains offer fast 7kW or 22kW chargers and are sometimes free to use. Ultra-rapid chargers – commonly found at motorway services – are the fastest method of charging, which is great for long journeys but will cost more.

“To help you find the best places to charge your EV, there are plenty of tools, including the Volvo Cars smartphone app, which can show you the most convenient local charging points for your journey.”

4. CHARGING TAKES TOO LONG – NOT ALWAYS!

“There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to how long your car will take to charge – it depends on battery size, how much electrical current it can handle, the speed of the charge point used, plus other factors such as temperature.

“A 7kW charger has the capacity to fully charge a compatible EV with a 40kW battery in four to six hours, while a 22kW charger will take only one to two hours**. It’s important to remember that no matter the power of the charge point, your car will only draw in as much power as its on-board charger allows, so the charging time may still be longer.

“Typically, a pure electric Volvo car will charge from 10% to 80% in just over half an hour using a rapid charger –the perfect amount of time to do your food shopping, grab a coffee or enjoy a Swedish fika coffee break”

5. PURCHASING AN EV WILL BREAK THE BANK – WRONG!

“Electric cars still feel new and novel to some, so it can be surprising to learn that there are lots of used electric vehicles on the market, which is a great option if you’re keen to make the switch but don’t want to go for a brand-new car.

“Throughout February, Lincoln drivers can take advantage of a £500 finance contribution on Volvo Selekt approved used cars, including all our fully electric, plug-in hybrid and mildhybrid models. Drivers can also save up to £6,000 on selected new electric and hybrid models, including the Volvo EX30, EX40 and EX90.

“To find out more, book a test drive of our Volvo Selekt range and discover more about EVs from our team of experts who can help make the switch to electric an easy one.”
