HUNTSVILLE LIONS CONTINUE TO SERVE WITH DECADES OF PARADES
Kim Theodorsen of Variety Sounds and Glen Edwards of KHVL 104.9’s morning show called the play-by-play of the Huntsville Lions Club Lighted Christmas Parade. Although the weather was drizzling and cold, the parade carried on, winding it’s way through Huntsville.
Local attorney and Texas State 278th District Judge Candidate Hal Ridley brought out his classic truck to wave to the kids of Huntsville in the Lions Club Christmas Parade. Ridley’s polished “sleigh” drew lots of attention from parade-goers.
Walker County Precinct 4 Commissioner Challenger Jimmy Henry got the best of announcer Kim Theodorsen when she waved back at the first entry in the parade for Henry, pictured here. Henry’s image in the car window was not the REAL Jimmy Henry, as he was waving from the driver’s seat of a Ford Explorer further back in the parade.
© PHOTOS BY MELANIE THIBODEAUX Walker County Tax Assessor Collector Diana McRae waves at the crowd in the Christmas Parade as her husband, Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae leads off early in the parade, driving her through the streets. After decades of service to the Huntsville Community, former Walker County Judge Frank Robinson turned the reindeer reins over to the Lions Club’s new parade “caboose”, Santa Noah Speer. The traditional parade often sees near 100 entries. The 2013 edition of one of the community’s favorite traditions saw considerably fewer as a result of inclimate weather, which included temps in the thirties and rain. The Huntsville Lions Club will begin working on their Flag sales project the first of January.

I’m Jimmy Henry and I’m running for your Pct 4 Commissioner in the Republican Primary, March 4th. I believe prosperity is something we should all have, but Walker County’s ever increasing taxes hinder that. As a lifelong successful businessman, I understand that it is imperative that Walker County operate within its financial means. I will bring fiscal responsibility, accountability and transparancy to the Pct 4 Commissioner’s post. I look forward to visiting with you in the coming months and hope you’ll join me at one of the gatherings below so that we can visit about the bright future of Walker County!

The Girl Scout troop in New Waverly, Texas, helped organize the annual New Waverly Christmas parade this year. Although the parade entries weren’t many, the residents and children turned out for the seasonal cameraderie and candy. Stephen Cole and his wife Angie were among those that decorated and turned out to wave at the south county crowds. Cole is running for Justice of the Peace, Pct 4.

TOYS FOR TOTS CONTINUES LONG TRADITION IN WALKER COUNTY (HUNTSVILLE, TX) — Toys for Tots coordinator Luvenia Owens (left in pic above) explained to Texas District 8 Congressman Kevin Brady that there were many more contributions to Toys for Tots this year than last, but that the need for the toys had also increased significantly. Brady stopped by to drop off some toys at the collection point, designated as Huntsville’s Senior Village on Essex Drive.
