COMMENTS FROM THE CLUB This weekend we host our Women’s WPL and CWCL games. We welcome Coastal Spirit and Selwyn United to Kendall Park. Our CCL and Reserves are away at Parklands Reserve playing Parkland FC. The Reserves kick off first at 12.30pm, followed by our CCL First Team. Good luck tomorrow lads! Our junior In-house have a weekend off from football and will start back up on the following weekend. Our Mainland teams will be playing at kendall Park and all of Christchurch tomorrow and we wish them all the very best in their games. This weekend is the weekend we usually host our annual Alan Fraser Memorial Girls tournament at Kendall park. However due to Covid 19 unfortunately we decided to cancel the tournament. We have been fortunate to have the opportunity to have a full season of football, with Mainland games playing through for most teams this weekend. We have also been given the opportunity to host the 12th grade and 14th grade Girls Canterbury United Dragons and Pride End of Season Tournament in October and look forward to having the regional teams be involved in this. Instead of our AFM tournament this weekend and with the announcement of the FIFA Women’s World Cup being hosted by New Zealand and Australia in 2023 we decided it would be a fantastic weekend to celebrate female football. We have our Women’s WPL running a skill session for 4-10 year old girls, and have most of our girls teams at home. Our U17’s Girls who are heading to Auckland in October for the postponed U17 National Youth Tournament are running the BBQ and fundraising for their trip. We hope to see you down at Kendall supporting our teams this Saturday. Thank you, Amy Pawson General Manager

WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE Waimak United VS Coastal Spirit 12.30PM Kick off Kendall Park Turf Coaches Comments Welcome to the game here at the Kendal Park. In this round of the women’s premier competition the girls take on Coastal Spirit as we progress into the start of round two. The team would like to extend a warm welcome to the Coastal team players, management and supporters. Over the years we have had some good battles with this team and have at times shown that we can compete and today will be no different. The girls have been working hard at training and have been very consistent on match days to date with the only loss of the season so far to Coastal Spirit. Going into the bye round the players put in an excellent performance against Cashmere Technical coming away with a point in a 2-2 draw but the players felt that they should have come away with all 3 points. In the CWCL competition we are also showing great form and as we move into the game against Selwyn we will be looking to continue this form. The WPL team would like to wish the CCL management and players all the best for this weekend’s game as well as all other teams playing in the Waimak United colors this weekend. The players and the team would like to thank the club for its continuing support. Lastly and more importantly we would like to thank all our loyal supporters and hope that you all enjoy the game today.

WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB MEN’S CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE Waimak United VS Parklands FC 2.45PM Kick off Parklands Reserve Coaches Comments This weekend we face a tough fixture away at Parklands on the back of another win having beaten Universities 5-1 at home. This is my first season involved with CCL football so I am learning about each club as we go but the lads have made it clear that this fixture is always a battle and so we certainly won’t be taking anything for granted despite our recent run of good form. The players have a clear focus that they have to be at their best this weekend if they want to get another 3 points. Ollie and I have taken time this week to reflect on when we first took over at the start of the year and the type of team we were hoping to build. We’re both very pleased with the squad, the character and abilities we have in the team but in recent weeks the most pleasing thing is to see the team unity and togetherness. There’s a good feeling within the camp but our biggest challenge now to the players is to ensure they don’t get complacent, if anything we want them to work even harder and show us they can dominate this league. Currently there’s only 3 points between ourselves and 1st place despite losing our first 3 games, which shows how tight this league is, however it could also be an opportunity for one team to step up beyond the pack and lead the way, to do that it would take a high level of consistency in terms of performances and results. Can we be that team this year? I can’t say for certain, but what I can guarantee is this group of players and all the coaching staff will be giving everything we have to try to become that team and make the club proud. Good luck to all Waimak teams this weekend, Up The Mak! Adam Keizer
